I have a 2005 Honda CRF250X that is great, but I really miss the torque of my old CRF 230f. The suspension, brakes and seating position of the 250X is sooo much better than the 230 but I have a hard time controlling the revs in really tight stuff. My old 230 would never stall and if I got into a bad situation I could just motor on through it. I've added a 14oz flywheel and a 13t front sprocket to the X, which helped but it's no tractor like the 230. My question is, has anyone ever swapped a 230 engine into a 250X chassis? I would think the lighter and bulletproof engine of the 230 matched with the aluminum frame, better suspension and brakes of the 250X would make an unstopable woods bike? I would give up a lot of horsepower, but with probably 20 less pounds from losing the radiators and cooling system and the same amount of torque as the 250X I think it would be a great bike. 6 speed transmission, no more difficult valve adjustments..... am I missing something here? Thanks! And post pics if you've done this!
