    Great "growth bike" so far for teen rider on SoAp trails.
  2. Hi there, this is my first bike and I'm having a blast learning about it. Took a spill this weekend and one of the wires going into the clutch housing was severed. Not sure what it does or what I need to order to replace it. I'm able to get the bike started with the electric starter (as long as I'm in neutral) and it seems to run fine, so I'm not sure what the impact is yet. Any ideas? I'm a DIY-er with my Wrangler - this is a new world though, so if I need to take it to the shop, I will. Just curious if its something I can easily fix. Thanks in advance!

  5. So I replaced the stock steel 7/8th handlebars with Renthal fatbar Ricky Carmichael bend which appear to be same dimensions. In retrospect I wish I'd gone with the Ricky Carmichael high bend which is 19 mm higher. I was just a bit worried about cable length, but I think the RC high bend would have worked fine now. I used Tusk oversized handlebar clamps to mount the fat bars. The Tusk clamps are just about perfect except the bolts are about 1/4 inch longer than stock. They just barely cleared the frame at full lock so I cut them down to stock length. The Tusk clamps are about 5 mm higher than stock. Also installed Acerbis rally profile handguards. These are the version without an aluminum backbone. They fit okay but do limit lever angle adjustment. In particular the clutch cable rides right on top of the inside handguard mount. On the front brake side, I had dremel the shield to create clearance for the banjo bolt. Finally, I cut off the strap on the number plate because it didn't work well with the bar pad on the fat bars. After a 20 mile trail ride, including a lot of whooped out sections, I don't think you need the strap to keep the brake line from getting behind the number plate.
  6. The bikes YZ250FX, KLX230R, CRF125F Big Wheel. My friend is coming to visit in a few weeks and I want to buy a bike so we can ride together. He is a bit of a noob that can operate a clutch not that well. He has ridden a dirt bike 3 times in his life and is 5'8" and 150 pounds. They are all fuel injected which I like. If I did buy the yz250fx I would definitely ride it commonly when he is not there the others not quite so much. I think the 250 might be little too much and the 125 not quite enough power so I am leaning towards the 230.

Hey guys, My brothers klx230r keeps popping the 15a ignition fuse (the single fuse to the right of the starter relay labelled "15a fl") when trying to start the bike sometimes. not always but most of the time it will pop the second you press the start button and it kills all power. I've unplugged and blown out every single plug and cleaned contacts that look dirty as well as both earths to the engine and frame. I've tried unplugging the start button and bridging the plug to see if its a broken wire or crappy button with no luck, still pops the fuse most times. the loom all looks pretty good and cant see any obvious wear. The bike starts no worries if I bridge the 2 heavy wires on the starter relay so I can only assume its to do with the low power side of the starting system. If anyone has had a similar issue or has access to a wiring diagram Id be forever grateful for the help! If its not damaged wires maybe the relay could be the culprit? any help would be much apricated guys! I would have gone through over 50 fuses by now. Cheers!
