  1. I got a question. I own a 2016 KX 85. It ran AMAZING after it first bought it used and was in beautiful condition and I picked it up for only 2500. I was riding when all of a sudden it started bogging down right before the power band.i don’t think it’s jetting because the bogging just turned on like a switch and it was running perfect before it. The bike was like that for a month. Apparently the previous owner never oiled the filter so it was dry as a rock and was falling apart and got sucked into to the intake so I’m guessing my power valve is gummed up or stuck close or open. I was riding one day with the bog issue and about 35 minutes of riding I shut it off to take a break. Came back 20 minutes later and it would not start.I changed the spark plug, cleaned out the carb,checked the reeds,and tried hill starting it but nothing. When ever I try to hill start it I can hear it trying to crank and It starts for like half a second but then dies.I don’t remember if I left the fuel petcock on but what I’m guessing is that I flooded the engine and tried starting which messed up my electronics.The reason why I think I flooded the Engine is because when I took off the reeds the intake manifold and reed were soaked in gas.I heard that starting the engine while flooded can mess with a woodruff key or your CDI or something. There is spark coming from the plug though.And yes I mix the gas with oil at 32:1 cause I’m in the pipe all the time.This is my first time owning a 2 stroke.Any answers or tips.

  4. I recently had the gearbox on my kx100 fail on me, and need to replace the gears. I was looking on eBay and found the parts from a 2009 kx100, mine is a 2004. Will the 2009 parts fit my bike or did they make changes on the gearbox from 2004 to 2009.
  5. I'm a relatively new member to the forum but not necessarily a noob to 2 strokes. I have had numerous bikes and quads but found a couple problems when I purchased a 1994 kx80 big wheel (t4) off a friend that had given up on trying to get the carb tuned correctly after rebuilding the top end. It was running super rich from the pilot circuit all the way through the main. After a massive amount of forum and owners manual reading I found out that someone had swapped in both pilot and main jets that were 4-5 sizes bigger than stock. The air screw was turned all the way in because they had lost the spring and screwing it all way in was the only way it would stay where you set it. So I ordered factory size jets and installed them and borrowed an air screw spring from a different carb. This cleared up 90% of the problem. The only issue after that was a bog from idle if you hammered the throttle. The bike ran great once you rolled past the bog. I know the pe28 on these bikes is a little big for low end acceleration and if you stay on the pipe that issue doesn't matter but my son and I do not use the bikes for mx. We only trail ride so keeping the bike at full throttle all the time wasn't really an option. A little research (a lot actually lol) later I dropped the pilot 1 size and lowered the needle 2 slots(it was set as rich as possible) and she runs like a brand new bike! For reference purposes, I am at 1200ft elevation and it is humid and 90 degrees where I live in Kentucky. I made this post to share my experience so it may help others and to thank all of the wise and noble thumpers that take the time to share their knowledge so that our community can thrive!
