  1. Hi, i bought an old kdx 250 but cant determine the year. Ive called my local kawasaki deal and tried vin decoders online. Un able to 100% determine year. Vin is JKADXMB11BB500499
  2. Are there any go-to parts places for these old kdx's? Or anybody that you guys recommend I send my cylinder too? I traded my old kz550 for this kdx last week and the only reason I agreed to the trade was because the kdx supposedly had a brand new crank and top end with low hours on it. It ran good enough to make the trade and had great compression, just needed some carb tuning, it had a good knock to it but everywhere I researched said that its normal and it's only the kipps valves. As soon as I got the carb lined out, the con rod bearing went out, taking my piston and cylinder with it.. idk why it failed, con rod says "royal" on it but other than that, idk what brand any of the parts used are. Havent dug too deep yet. Just want to get it running as cheap as I can since I traded off a dang nice bike for this thing and now I'm kicking myself for doing so.. I have to many project bikes and I really didnt think I was getting another one.
  3. I recently got two KDX 200’s off an old guy on Craigslist. I traded my XR80 for them. I had no idea what the bikes looked like. When I got the bikes both had motors one bike was seized and it probably sat out in the rain because I had to wrestle the piston out of the cylinder. Water had sat inside where the crank was and froze the rod and stuff solid. The guy said the other bikes top end was fine and if needed a transmission so I planed to make one good bike out of the two. I took out the motor on the bike with the blow up tranny and took off the cylinder the bore looks good etc I took off the four bolts holding the cylinder off the block And tried to remove it whatever’s i do i cannot get the cylinder off any ideas on what I should do to remove the cylinder? Ill upload pictures in a hour or so.
  4. How would a Kdx 220 compare to a Kx250 with a fly wheel weight. Right now I don't really like the kx. How much better will it be with a flywheel weight. Will it be similar to the Kdx. Would it be good for tight technical trails with the weight
  5. I recently got a 1991 (I think) kdx250 engine from my buddy for $150, in almost running condition, as well as rads, exhaust, and muffler. He said the engine had been sitting in a bucket of water for 5 years and he rebuilt it and said it may need to rings but it ran. (Seems good compression wise, and it bogs when kicking it when throttle fine). However, he said it kept blowing ignition coils for some weird reason so he just got rid of it and converted the bike to electric. I ended up finding a complete 1991 kdx250 for $300 that had a seized engine. So I swapped over the engines, put it new oil, new coolant. But now I have no spark. The frame’s wiring had been butchered. A yellow cable from the engine was never connected, two front wires at the front were torn off, and two at the rear were unconnected plus a brake light switch wire. Any idea why I’m getting no spark? After checking I do have some spare parts, I have like 4 spare ignition coils, not sure if any work, and some other part that was on the air box (small with a red and black/white wires). The one on the bike says 2.8 and the spare I have is 5.4 not sure if this is voltage or anything. I have already tried swapping the plugs, what next?
