I own two 1993 KDX 200's, this one is my main ride. For woods riding, this bike is tough to beat. The water cooled, power valved two-stroke has usable bottom end torque and surprisingly strong on the pipe power. It's light, suspension is excellent. I like the inverted forks found only on the '93-'94 models. I ride primarily Akeley, MN single track and gravel pits. Kenda Southwick II (soft terrian) tires, Pro Circuit pipe, FMF silencer, Boyesen reeds.

I think the KDX200 is one of the best woods machines ever created.

  8. Hey guys, ill start with im sorry for probably re-asking this questions but i couldnt find a thread. Im looking into getting a new bike. Moving up from a CRF230 and am looking at a few different 2T's. The kdx200 and yz125. The KDX is fine as is but ive heard both sides on the YZ that for trails you want an older (00-06) but have also heard newer. Jusst would like clarification and also what is so special about the 06YZ?? Just wondering. Thanks guys, lets get some replies coming in.

  17. 05 rmz450 and 05kx250f We filled up at Flyn Js this morning in Barstow,Ca with 91 octane and met up with friends for a day of riding. 1st the 250 skidded the rear wheel after about 10min of riding and wont run and then my 450 locked up its rear wheel almost sending me over the bars but mine happened on the 2nd ride but on the same tank of fuel. The 450 has no compression at all, I can push the kick starter by hand easily and the 250 seems to have some compression but just got home and havent taken anything apart. I rebuilt the 450 2 or 3 years ago and ride desert about 6-8 times a season. The 250 I bought used so dont know too much about its history. Can bad fuel have done this or is it just a coincidence that they both just let loose? No one else got gas from the same station.
  18. So I am moving up from a ttr 125 and i was initially thinking yz125, kdx 200, exc 200, but then when i was looking at craigslist i found a 2000 exc 250 that was just serviced by one of the best shops in my area and it looks cleaner than new. So my question is should i take the 250 or wait for one of the bikes that i mentioned above? Thanks (Oh and it is a green sticker so thats another huge plus) I am 6'2, 140 and have ridden the ttr for about a year, but also payed a little on my dads 450 and rode a yamaha blaster for 4 years
  19. Hey guys finally got the 1986 kdx200 for $300. Ya shes beein sitting since 2004, but i cleaned up the plug, threw some 20:1 in the cylinder to lube it all up, and she went first kick. My first question is what to use to clean the gastank inside. Its definately beyond a soap and water job haha. Second, the exoansion chamber is an fmf gold series, but kind of rusted, thoughts on paint vs sanding and polishing? And also i dod a kick test when checking for spark with the plug out but it still sparked when i was holding down the killswitch. Is this normal on kicking it? *most important*--- the clutch doesnt really work at all but the bottom end oil has been drained when it was stored. If i put some 10w30 and let it sit do you think the plates will free up or they have to be replcaed? And last, anyone know how to quickly fix a slipping kickstart it only catches when i kick slowly. Thanks so muchhh! Ill post pics of my progress as i go! I got all the parts theyre just in a box.

    2006 KDX200

Hey guys. I have a bone stock KDX 200 and it runs great. Always has. But I'd like to start modifying it. I already purchased Boyesen 607 power reeds after doing extensive research, next will be an FMF gnarly rev with a turbine 2 silencer. After that I was looking to getting into RB mods or FRP mods. But my only question is. Which should I chose? I know FRP has thousands of hours of tested proof. But people swear by the RB. Will they mix? Because from what I have found the RB carb is the way to go and the FRP head and jug are better than RB. Please help! If you have experience with either or both of these companies that would help A LOT! Thanks guys!
