Its a good bike with tons of power. My only complaint is the weight, this thing is a tank!

Great power band easy to cruise yet has the power when you need it, the only thing that I really dislike is the placement of the choke knob VERY hard to get to and this thing is very hard to start cold.

This bike is a rocket ship! The only issue I've had was that it came from the factory so corked up. Also, the cost of maintenance and upgrades are a tad on the pricey side but that's all four strokes now days. After setting it up to your liking, I can't imagine you not riding this machine with smile on your face.

    2014 Baja 1000 Rumors

I know its early, but any rumors yet? How bout this one: Rumor #1 - Heard there is way too much damage down South now to consider a point to point race as planned this year. Hope all down there are ok...
  10. I have a 94 dr350 and have kind of converted it into a dirt bike I am currently running 14:48 sprocket ratio but find Im always in 6th at 7,000 rpm on the open trails I am thinking of going 15 on the front and keeping the 48 on the back. Is this a good idea to get a better top speed?? Past experiences would be great as I have no clue! Cheers Braaap

The bike does double duty as a dirt bike and street legal supermoto. On the road the suspension is a little soft and on the dirt it doesn't react very well to fast bumps. I think I may be asking too much to get it to work for both applications. Otherwise the bike is great for what is is made to do.

    Winter KLX450R rebuild

My KLX450 needed some help. It's a 2008 that I bought as a leftover in 2010, and have since put on about 1800 miles, almost all offroad. When I bought it, I put a Baja Designs dual-sport kit on it and got it plated, that's why some of the miles involved roads. I had shimmed the intake valves 3 times, and they had bottomed out yet again. It was time for new valves, and while it was apart I planned on replacing the piston and rings too. Another thing I wanted to address was the frame and engine cases. Somewhere along the way, I ran through some acid mud that stained the crap out of the aluminum. Most things I tried to clean it just made it look worse. So here's the bike before I started. Overall it's cleaner than some, but it's looking like a dirt bike that's been ridden. Since I wanted to both rebuild the top-end and get it looking new again, a total tear-down was in order. Every part was bagged and tagged as I took it off, along with labeling every connection on the wiring harness. I also made a list of all the replacement parts needed. For example, new swingarm bearings, races, seals, and bolt... I pulled the cylinder head and cylinder off of the engine while it was still in the frame. The piston looked good and the cylinder still looked like new. I'm still replacing the piston though. After taking the valves out of the head, it was obvious that the titanium intake valves were toast. The plan is to have the head rebuilt with Kibblewhite stainless valves and heavy duty springs.

Awesome bike :)I have owned a XR200, RM125, TE410 and this and I have to admit i was unsure about this when buying it but i have had no regrets. Has power from top to bottom and is really predictable.

I have a motard converted KLX450R. Fitted with a full FMF pipe. Bike goes extremely well and I can not fault it. The torque of the bike is incredible in any gear and from low down revs to high. I would recommend this bike to anyone.

Only issue, lose crap side stand... and a slight bit of noise from chain slap sometimes... but overall amazing bike to ride.

    Kick ass
  23. Hi Everyone, Firstly, good morning. Let me introduce myself: I'm French and I live there. I think there is the better forum for technical issue in the world and would like to find a solution. Here is my problem: I have a '2009 KLXR, and the surface of the cylinder head which support camshaft (on the right side of the engine) where there is not bearing, is destroyed. Due to that there is a clearance between camshaft and head. I change two times cylinder head and still same issue! I'm disappointed! Does someone has the same problem? In your opinion it's due to what? And how to fix it? HELP! Apologise for my english!) If it is not clear i can join a pic. Thank you!

Great machine for Northern CA trails. Everything you need on an off road bike minus all the weight.
