  1. http://bmmspark.com/ This is a great place to ride I went a month ago and have been every weekend since they have a ton of trails of all difficulties well marked I hardly see any other groups of riders when I am on the trails once I am out on the trails it is like it is my own personal trail system they have a nice parking area that you can camp at if you want they have a food wagon, restrooms and showers as well as a small selection of gear and parts that are surprisingly well priced they are friendly and as helpful as can be it is one of those places where you feel like one of the gang from the moment your there in case you can not tell I am hook on the place it does not hurt that it is only 15 miles from my house to. you can find me there most every weekend PM me we can hit a few trails.
  2. Well, with less than a month until I'm going away for college, I want to get as much riding in as I can. That being said, I am kinda new to the area and I don't have a single friend that rides. If anyone wants to meet up and go riding, definitely let me know. I've been to brushy mountain once and loved it there and I'd like to get up to elkhorn lake and down to uwharrie sometime. During the week would be the best time for me, and I have access to quite a bit of land in stokes county but the trails need some work before they will be rideable. Anyways, I'd just like to meet some people to go and ride some trails with.
  3. Well, we could use ya’lls opinions and advice! My wife and I want to move to the southeast for a few years to be closer to her father in Orlando. Flying distance is fine, as long as it’s closer than ~2 hrs or so by air plane. The big question is where we should move. Our biggest priority is actually the mountain bike riding, but the dirt biking (trails and motocross tracks) is the second priority, and one that we do take very seriously. Asheville, NC, is very high on the list due to the great MTB riding, but it looks like all moto options will be at least an hour drive from town. Is there anywhere else, maybe eastern Tennessee or northern Georgia, that might have comparable MTB riding, as well as better/closer moto options? Or are there more moto options near Asheville that don’t pop up with a google search? Thanks for any all advice and opinions!
  4. Hello, All, Just joined the forum after reading for some time. Appreciate the good information here. I'll be escaping New England's late winter to spend the month of April in the Pinehurst, NC area. Been reading here and elsewhere about the riding available in the general vicinity, including some of the pluses and minuses: Closest are Badin Lake and Uwharrie. These seem to be the same place, but can't quite tell; people seem to speak of them differently sometimes. Next closest is Outback, but I don't see much talk about this from the 2-wheeled crowd. Brown and Brushy seem to be the places that people gravitate to -- about 3 hours to the west of where I'll be. But here is the catch: I am brand new to trail riding! Been riding motorcycles for 20+ years, street riding, then to road racing and track days (raced for quite a while -- in fact at the end of this trip I'll be on track at VIR on the race bike), with a smattering of flat-track type training as well (so appreciate some of the ways that that dirt riding, neutral spine/push the bike down, is different than road course), but I am pure novice off-road and will be treating myself as such. The question: do you think I would be able to find a day or two of riding appropriate for me to start my dirt/trail career (like, start on the bunny slope and progress only when I'm ready) or should I leave the new dirt bike at home in New England? Thanks, Dustin
  5. Hey Guys, Looking for people in the Charlotte area, "newer" rider but would love to meet up and find more people to ride with. Brad
  6. Anybody riding the Fayetteville area? Just got a Wr250x and looking for some people to hit some trails with.
  7. I have always understood that if you go to title a bike in NC with a MSO that doesnt have "off-road use only" you should be good to go. This gave me a pretty good feeling on buying a new KTM and getting it plated, even if I had to go through the hassle of bringing it up to street legal. However I called and spoke to a KTM dealer today and he told me that the new 2017 bikes are coded so that that none of the off road models are in the database to register, meaning it would be impossible in NC to do. Is this the case? Or is this merely the dealer not knowing what they are talking about.
  8. Brown Mt. N.C. Trail System has been closed do to fires on the mountain, any one have any additional info on reopening?
  9. It "should" be in its clear case along with a 4G card in it. I have red lettering on it showing battery polarity installation as well other writing that denotes which batteries work for which card (2G or 4G). I recall it being on my helmet as we were at the high spot on trail 2 near the rocks where you can climb out onto, etc. I rode that section, made it to a 2 way trail shortly thereafter, and came down the main trail to the parking lot...and No Go Pro... If anyone sees it, please let me know. I am at cuerx@hotmail.com or 704-622-3892 anytime Thx. Patrick
  10. Trying to decide early on where I will ride this weekend. I am Brown Mountained out.... Not that I dont like riding there, but last three day rides I have done have been there. I really would like to go to Brushy Mtn. Then there is also this Harescramble race on Sunday, Little Brown Jug.... But not sure if I want to spend 100$ to run a race or not ( 50$ for the race, and ??? for the transponder rental, and another 40$ or so for gas and food ) Anyway, anyone else want to throw out some ideas on riding this weekend? Who all wants to ride and where?

  14. Allright guys. Both my bikes were stolen from my garage this past Friday night. They were LOCKED and CHAINED. I'm not going through through the brain damage of posting pics on here, the craigslist ad I posted is linked below. Please keep an eye and an ear out. The 450 had Titanium/Carbon Fiber Yosh RS4 exhaust and a hinson clutch cover. It should stand out a little. The 250 is bone stock with G-force suspension stickers on the forks. They also stole a set of my dirty TLD gear SE Gear, 28 waist, jersey med, Blue/Red. Keep an eye out as you cruise craigslist, your local riding spots and wherever else. Scumbags cut a hole in the back wall of my garage with a saw-zaw, climbed in, cut the locks off the bikes and rolled them right out the front door. http://raleigh.craigslist.org/mcy/2812178956.html

  18. Brushy will be open this weekend, most all the snow is gone. The single track trails are in good shape. The temperatures will not be quite as warm as last weekend but the 40's are still great. So if your wives and girlfriends will let you, come on out and Ride the Mountain.

  23. Well Gents... 2 crazy sonofaguns rode the mountain and made it to the top yesterday (Monday). We were the only dirt bikes at the top. Conditions varied from sheet ice to half melting snow with fair traction. Of note: I love my D803 trials tire...but not in the snow. I was wishing for a new S12 or other really good mud tire...Tractionator maybe? Anyway...18+ miles of riding the mountain. Enjoy! Darren Lingafeldt, my neighbor and NCHSA 2010 Vet C 35+ Champion! Yeah...it was cold. Tape over the helmet vents...an absolute must-do. I made sure to document the markers...getting to the top was challenging in places...especially the hill climb to get to the Trail 8 marker. We met a group of 4WD quads on top...those guys thought we were nuts. Fortunately, we did not attempt Trails 9 or 10...we'd be there until the thaw! I parked at the bottom of the access road leading up to the parking lot. It was very icy and my 2WD Ram was not up to the challenge. However...that didn't stop one goofball from trying to drive his 2WD dually pulling a 2,500 trailer up to the parking lot. As expected...he got stuck big time and blocked the entire road. There were several 4WD trucks in the parking lot who were trapped. In fact...because we were on bikes, we were able to drive around him in the ditch and then pull our bikes out. Not even the quads could get by...only the lone dirt bikers with huge brass clankers!🤣😛 I'm not sure if, or how, they would be able to pull him out of the way...it was not pretty. Anyhoo...it was fun...cold...but fun. Friday is expected to be 55 degrees at Brown. I'm thinking about heading back up there on Friday...anyone interested?😛 Cheers fellers! -Jay
