  1. Hey guys, I've had my 2019 RM-Z250 for about 6 weeks now and really like it! Did a little review write up in that section. Power is Awesome! Plenty of low end to pull me out of the corners with a strong mid-range and I'm pretty happy with the way it revs out....!! Not quite enough power (anywhere) to keep pace with the 450s which is most of my competition in the vet classes.... Hence, The Build!! Got 2 TX Winter series races (with my Sweet electrical tape #7, til MXGurl makes up some trick graphics) in to break things in and get a feel for the bike and where I need to go with our mods! I'm at 175 to 180 lbs in my street clothes. Vet A rider. Pretty fast (got a moto podium at LL17 on my '03 YZ125; 2 moto podiums at LL18 on my '17 250SX 50+) Started racing in '75 and have been testing bikes since '84. JM Racing did some suspension valving and re-springing to make it race worthy for my weight and nailed it!! Suspension is working awesome, a little fine tuning and it'll be Perfect! Bike was pretty stiff from the factory!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Forks: We went from the stock .51 to .46. Tried .48s but the front end wouldn't settle in the corners for me, .46s hold it up and allow the bike stay in the corner. Shock: We went form the stock 5.3 to a 4.7. Everything heavier wouldn't allow for the enough Free Sag..... I'm at 104mm Race sag and 37mm Free sag right now. Bike has a nice balance now and JM lightened up the valving on the front quite a bit and a little on the rear. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Magazines were right about the stiffness, but missed the mark on the rest of the bike! Handles great and the power is super usable! I've always thought that the goal was to get around the track as fast as possible for several laps...??? The Suzuki does that Great!!
  2. Hey guys I recently bought a new to me 2006 rmz250 that's needing rebuilt. I'm ending up having to put a head on it with all new valve train stuff also. I'm just having a hard time deciding whether I should go with titanium or stainless steel valves possibly even a mix of the two like on the Hondas. I was just hoping to hear from anybody to see there experience on this matter.
  3. I recently purchased a secondhand RMZ 250 2004 and it has had trouble kick starting ever since I got it. I drained gas, I cleaned the carb, The oil is fine, I changed the air filter and i changed the spark plug and it is still super hard to get started. Has anyone had the same problem and can give me some advice?
  4. I just put a rekluse in and changed the engine oil and rode it around last night. I get up this morning too it off with gas and it won’t start! It ran perfect last night, and now all of a sudden it won’t start. I can tell it’s trying to because when I hold the kill switch it just dies instantly but without it it bumps a little like it wants to start. Could someone please help me out.
  5. I’m in a pickle between these two bikes, they have them priced for the same, and they are both fuel injected. The rmz is spotless and kept in this girls house. The ktm is also very clean but not as much as the Suzuki. The rmz has an fed exhaust on it. I don’t know which bike I should get, they both have rekluse clutches, and I Do trail riding, ramping, and road riding so I like to be able to go fast. Which one should I get? Pictures are below.
  6. Hello, I have an 06 RMZ450. Great bike with tons of extras. I'm new to 4 strokes and having fun so far. Here are a few questions: My 06 has a backfire on decel issue. It backfires only once after the bike is reved on deceleration. Visible flame out the silencer. Is a backfire the same and a decel pop? I'm thinking I need to replace the springs that hold the manifold pipe tight up against the cylinder. My theory is a good Rev is pushing the manifold pipe away from the cylinder just enough that when I let off the throttle (decel) it allows excess air in due to weak springs and so it backfires. The manifold pipe just pulls out away from the cylinder easily. Or because maybe I am missing a seal between the manifold and the cylinder? Or because I should have a seal between the manifold and silencer tube? Another idea is I have a small crack in my silencer tube all the way back at a bend bear the cannister. The bike has Pro Circuit exhaust (not sure what style but has spark arrestor) and Boysen Quick shot. I have adjusted the air and fuel screws to the point where the bike is snappy on throttle, no hanging idle or bog. It has a new CR8E plug and I'm running non ethanol 92 with some octane booster.
  7. I have a fuel injected rmz250 that sputters at very low rpms, it cuts on and off a little but mid and high rpms it runs like a beast. I have a tuner, so do I need to lean out or richen the low end?
  8. Need help! I recently bought a 2004 RMZ 250 that wasn’t running, for cheap. (Bad year for these bikes, I know). I put on a new head with kibblewhite valves and new piston rings. After I got everything together it fired within 5 kicks. It had a high idle and I went to adjust it, I turned it down a little and then the bike died. The bike ran for a total of 10 seconds and then wouldn’t crank after it died. So I took the spark plug out and put it in the coil to test for spark and nothing. After I let it sit for an hour or two it’ll fire right up but then dies soon after. I have replaced the spark plug, the ignition coil with a new OEM one and the CDI box with a new OEM one. After replacing all of that I can start the bike fine cold and idle perfect and I can ride it for about 5 minutes but then it’ll die when I’m coasting, it then loses spark again. Sometimes I can tap the new CDI box and the spark will come back. Now I don’t know if the new one is bad too but I’ve checked all the grounds and connectors on the wire harness and they are clean and connected good. I did disconnect the kill switch and it’s still doing the same thing. One thing I have not checked or replaced is the stator. Any help would be appreciated! Sorry if this isn’t in the right forum area.

  10. I have a 2010 rmz250 EFI and I noticed a little smoke coming out of a hole in my header pipe, I will fix the header pipe soon, but I took the gas tank off and took the ignition coil out and there is oil on it and on the plug. Is there a bad seal, or something else?
  11. I was tightening my valve cover bolts on my 2010 rmz250 and I overtightened one because it was getting tight then just got loose. I took it out and I obviously tore up the thread on the inside because it came out with the bolt. what is the best way to fix this?
  12. Hello everyone, So I ride trails on a terrain with no hills or anything like that in my area everything is straight just a lot of forests so Im wondering should I get YZ 125 or a RMZ 250 I need something that wont blow up because im 16 and dont have a lot of money something reliable but fun
  13. My 2010 rmz250 will sputter like it wants to start, but it won’t. I cleaned the spark plug and there was spark, and I put new gas in it. Air filter is clean also. Do I just need to buy a new plug? Someone please help, it ran fine the night before and now all of a sudden it won’t start.
  14. Hi guys just wondering if anyone could tell me if piston rings from a 2012 rmz 450 will fit into a 2005 rmz 450 not the piston only the rings cheers
