  2. I would like to get a work stand for my bike. In the day we all used milk crates. Anyhow... I'm talking about one of those four legged things. Idea being ability to get both wheels off the ground for maintence work. Problem I'm seeing though is it appears they are made for race bikes with much higher clearance. Our bikes are only 12" or so to bottom of frame rails and most the stands appear to be 17" or so high. I think that would be way to high. Does anybody have a work stand recomendation? Do you use one? How about the lifting models?
  3. How do you lift the Pig onto the work stand? Thinking of investing in a $100 motorcycle lift Harbor Freight. I'm not strong like Scott Summers.
  4. The purpose of this thread is to give a place for CRF250L enthusiasts to hang out and get help when in the shop. It's for when the bike is under the knife... 😏 You're stuck with a quick question, have a good tip to share and more... 👍 If you want to ask something quick or simple, take a break for a cold one or a smoke, this is the place hang out at or post in. Are you beat and need a break? Stuck and need a quick answer or info? Just want to hang out in the shop? Well you're here.. Come on in, pull up a milk crate and grab a cold one outta the old sticker fridge to pass the time. Post up your questions and respond to others when possible. Have group discussion about what works and what doesn't or whatever. Add links to other threads if you know they have the answer.... We are all in this together, so let's keep this in mind please... 🙂 . This is a family friendly PG-13 site and thread so please try to keep this in mind.... It's kinda meant to be like "The Recovery Room" without the mental patients posts going off on twisted tangents.... There's even coffee....

  6. Here is the one that I designed and built. I really like it and it works well. I subsitued the flat strap for a 12" channel so that the bike would be very stable on the lift. Click on each thumbnail below and print, so you can take the schematics to your garage or where ever you build your stuff.
  7. I am looking at getting a maintenence stand for my SM. I am used to having sport bikes so I have only ever owned pit bull stands. Well I don't have those any more and I am not to knowledgeable on MX stands. I basically need it to take of the wheels, steer stem lube, oil changes etc. Also the bigger factor is cost. I've got to clear it through the boss! I have a local cycle gear, harbor freight as well as several stealerships. Anyone got any suggestions or input? Was looking at these- http://www.cyclegear.com/TRACKSIDE-Steel-MX-Box-Stand Or http://www.cyclegear.com/TRACKSIDE-MX-Lift-Stand Or https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005IDBXJQ/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_ODeQub0MG8JDA
  8. Hi again everyone. I bought a motocross stand thinking I could put my XR 400 on it to change the wheels and for general maintenance. My problem is that the bike is lower than the lowest point of the stand and trying to pull the bike up onto it is proving a challenge. Does anyone else use a stand like this and have a way around my issue? Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question, This is my first motocross stand and enduro bike so have only ever used paddock stands before. Cheers
