just did a OEM top end on it at the beginning of the season and it runs great.I plan on having it ported by Eric Gorr for more Low to Mid-Range in February 2014
  3. Hey guys, looking for some advice on on getting my tc250 going. Any input is appreciated as I’m beginning to run out of ideas. long story but I want to give as much detail as possible. 2014 tc 250 3rd owner was told bike had around 10-20 hrs. All original plastic and tires. Cases barely has any rubbing. I put another 60 hrs on the bike all woods riding and started encountering fouled spark plugs. Adjusted the needle position to lean it out and that solved my issues last summer. Bike sat over winter and was only started once a month but would start normal. I added an fmf shorty slip on and the bike continuted to run well if not better than stock. Then I added a steahly flywheel weight. Rode the bike about 2 hrs then could not get bike to start back up. Tried to bump start bike a few times with no luck. After kicking a few more times I got the bike to start but it was bogged and unresponsive when turning the throttle. Played with air mix and idle screws but had no luck so I shut off the bike for the day and couldn’t start it again. I have fresh gas and 60:1 ratio motorex. I checked the flywheel weight and it looks good and in position with no rubbing on the cover. I removed the stock washer as instructions stated and torqued to spec. It appears the flywheel is still passing the sensor at top dead center also. I thought I had carb issues again so I bought a jd jet kit and carb rebuild. Replaced jets float needle and gaskets. set air fuel mix to 1-1/4 turn out as jd instructed. Bike still doesn’t start. I keep trying to kick and adjust air mix for a few hours on every setting but no luck. Also checked the reeds and they looked ok too. I noticed my map selector switch wire ripped and became disconnected. From my research online the bike should still run but be in map 2. By looking at the map switch and wiring I would agree that’s how it appears. To work but correct me if I’m wrong on this. Kill switch looks to be operating normal. Air filter has 2-4 hrs on it. I checked spark plug and it’s making spark. Compression at 150psi. I took the header pipe off to look at the side of the piston. Some light scoring but overall looks ok still. Top of piston looks very black with a lot of carbon buildup. Can carbon buildup affect starting? Any input is appreciated and I’ll update as I try other ideas. thank you!! -LL

It seems to have very good power and really easy to use power band with the modifications that we have. It definately needed more braking power which we addressed by installing an oversize front disc. Now we're working on getting the suspension dialed in for my son and after that it'll be pretty much "perfect" MX veapon :). Very light and nimble.

I got this bike for super cheap. I have quite a bit of money into it now. Hot rods bottom end, jetted carb, boyeson rad valve, all new bearings and seals in whole bike, wiseco clutch with dirt digger plates, hydraulic clutch I pieced together(so much cheaper), pro circuit platinum 3 full exhaust, race tech gold valves with stiffer springs, geared 13-48. Still running an oem piston but on next rebuild that will change. Happened on an oem for super cheap so I stuck with that. I love this bike. Im going to try and keep it forever. Lol.

Best bike I've ever ridden hands down!!! Nothing bad to say other than it needs a tank and a skid plate to complete it as an "off road" bike but that's about it!

I use this bike for woods riding. This is the first bike I ever bought, and I was told it was used as a spare bike that didn't get ridden very much. I think he wasn't being truthful lol it rode great at first, brought a buddy that has ridden most of his life to check it out and it was in really great shape for the year. Spring of 2016 I put 30+ hours on it and did a lot of upgrades in between. I learned a lot about jetting, and worked really hard getting it all dialed in for peak performance. Ended up tearing the top end apart because I heard some noise that made me concerned. Found crank bearings were worn, con rod bearing had really bad side to side play, piston didn't look too bad but still wanted to replace, luckily cylinder was in good shape. I did a complete top and bottom rebuild with OEM parts. Kinda expensive but $800-$900 later-a lot of time, patience, and cleaning-and I have basically a new engine and all the tools to rebuild one again. Rebuilt carb, repacked silencer, new chain and sprockets, all at the same time. Around 12 hours since rebuild and it's running very strong, great power, and so much fun to ride. Still have a little carb work to do, need to go up a size or two on the pilot jet. Overall though the bike is a blast, people told me it was too much to start with but honestly I think it was perfect to start with, I'm certainly not a greatly skilled rider but it taught me a lot, and it made me progress a lot and quickly.

Increased flywheel mass/inertia provides smoother power Reduces the tendancy of the bike to stall at low RPMs Inertia increase allows for better traction on loose slippery terrain
  9. Hey I am new to two strokes. I got a 2005 Suzuki Rm250 and love it, but it stalls easy at low speed or when I sit with the clutch in. I want to get a fly wheel weight to stop the stalling, but i do not want to take away the 2 stroke "hit" from it. What ounce weight should I use? I mostly ride trails with very little motocross.

this barn bike was used for 25 years and rebuilt just before i bought it, it suffered from the float letting in to much fuel because the needle was digging a dent into it,

Wish I bought a 250F years ago! Love this thing! I'm not a MX racer but a like light bikes for trail riding and the 250F works perfectly. The 250FX is probably where it's at, as this bike's gearing isn't quite wide enough for the fast/open stuff. Riding on some of the 2 track and roads near Moab UT I found myself pinned in 5th a lot. The suspension is great stock, the fork is a little on the stiff side for my liking but I'm swapping to lighter springs and will opt for a revalvle if it's still too harsh but for a MX bike it works really well as is on the trails.

Just rebuilt the YZ250 top end and suspension. Only has 1.1 hours on it after breaking in the new piston and rings. Runs great and I'm really looking forward to riding it this season.
