  1. Just purchased a neglected TTR250, rebuilt the carb and she fired up right away. After about 30 secs the header pipe glowed super bright orange (see picture). Is that normal? The engine also seemed unusually hot. What would cause this after just 30sec running? Did I forget to reinstall something? Maybe the intake boot? Or maybe just normal for a TTR250 pipes to glow like that?

I bought the bike from a guy who never rode because the seat height was too high for him. It was mint and only 3 years old at the time for only 3000$. It was a great learner bike for me and now I keep it for my friends to use who don't have bikes. It is a very low maintenance bike so it serves it purpose well. Id also like to add that it has surprisingly good power for an air cooled bike. (will add pics soon)
  11. I bought a 1999 TTR250 and the rotors are a mess, any one knows if another Yamaha rotors fits on this bike? because the OEM rotors are too expensive or if anyone knows about a page where i can buy this things at a right price? Thanks

Great so far. Bought Dec. 3, 2015. I've been on three rides with it here in the deserts outside of Vegas. I'm new to this stuff so still learning what's good. Changed the oil, it runs great and I'm having fun

Great bike! I'm in the process of converting it to Super Moto. Just a shame that the previous owner didn't maintain it too well :-( A bit different to the Triumph Tiger Cub that was my first bike back in 1967!

This has been a great bike to learn on. It's relatively light and though its power is limited it is smooth and predictable. Watch the oil level carefully and stick to the 600 mile oil change intervals and it will be reliable for a long time.

Recently purchased to make a budget single track toy. Carb being sorted out as a result of po neglect. Initial impression is quite positive. Still some mods / maintenance prior to first outing. Look forward to the development almost as much as the opportunity to explore the trails in North GA and surrounding areas.

  23. Hey guys. Im fairly new to the dirt bike game and I am having trouble figuring out what bike would fit me best. I have been on a four stroke Yamaha 125 for a year now and am looking to upgrade. Heres the deal, I don't have the cash to get a new bike so I've been looking for used ones. Im 5' 8'' and 175lbs. I have found a nice yz 250 that is in my price range on craigslist but im not sure if I can handle a two stroke. I have also heard that 2 stroke bikes are prone to blowing up. I want something that will be quality that I wont have to dump money into. I am strictly riding trails but no motocross races. If I am not racing it will it have problems? Do I go for this two stroke or do I wait to find a four stroke 250. Also what is the difference between a 125cc yz and a 250cc yz. They seem the same in speed. Would a 125 yz make a suitable bike? Any advice would be very appreciated. Thank you.
  24. Hi I bent my bars and was wondering if there were any good after market ones rather than just getting new stock ones. I'm having trouble finding a list of bars that will fit it. Everything is stock on the bike so they have to fit the same clamps. If you could get a link to a site that sells bars that will fit or know some good bars that would be great. I'm about 5'10 but like a bit wider bars and i mostly ride technical rocky and hilly stuff. I just dont want to buy bars that wont fit.
