  1. Hello everybody, I've got some issues with my WR 450 F, it's the '12 version with fuel injection. I noticed the speedo wasn't working, its reads 0 when riding. checked the speedo cable, looked fine. A mechanic friend checked it and said the cable is working. I checked all the connections, opened up all the sockets and even mesured resistance of the cables that go from the speedo cable too the dash. Nothing seems abnormal. Still reads 0 &%$#@!ing annoying. Anybody got some tips? thanks!
  2. I went for a short ride two weeks ago and as I was coming down a rocky hill into a flat area my bike died and I haven’t been able to get it started back up yet. This is the new to me bike, the previous owner told me it had around 20 hours on it and from what I can tell it is been very well taken care of. When it broke down it acted like it was starving for gas and when I got back to the house the fuel pump was making a strange noise. I pulled the pump and noticed the filter was black so I decided to order a new pump and filter. I suspected that this bike has been sitting for some time with gas in the tank so after cleaning the tank I put the new pump and filter back in and I’m still not getting it to fire up. I have the competition ECU in it with the Exhaust tip removed. Even after I put the ECU in it it was still hard to start and I need to pull the cold start button whether it was hot or cold. I’m riding at 6000 to 8000 feet elevation. I’m going to list some of the things I’ve done so far maybe somebody can give me some other recommendations. 1. New fuel pump & filter - It appears to be working fine, when I turn on the ignition it comes on for two or three seconds and pressures system up and then turns off. 2. Injector - I pulled it, back flushed it with Solvent(it was clean), tested it with 12 V battery and it is opening and closing. I put a meter on it and it is show 13.2 ohms, Factory specs show it should be 12 ohms, Not sure if this is this issue? I suspect it’s either a bad injector or something is wrong with the injector circuit? 3. New spark plug - Nothing was wrong with the old one but I figured put a fresh one in it. I tested the plug for spark with the ignition on and everything checks out fine. 4. Battery cables and connections and fuses - I’ve checked them around the battery and clean them up if they looked suspect. 5. Battery - appears to be working fine and operating correctly, I have it on a trickle charger right now to keep it up. Periodically through the process when I’m trying to fire up the bike after doing something new I would pull the spark plug and see if there’s any fuel on it and it appears to be dry as a bone that’s why I’m suspecting the injector or injector circuit? I thought about the Lean angle switch maybe being the issue but wouldn’t that kill the spark plug? As I’ve said before I’m getting plenty of spark. I’m not sure what direction to go from here, your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Anyone here have any experience with replacing their OEM shock bladder valve (needle type) with an aftermarket or OEM Cap from another year / model with the schrader valve type? Every time I service my shock, I say I'm going to do it do it (usually after it's done, and then I forget about it until the next time I do it). Looking to replace my 2012 WR cap, and I noticed it is a little close to the exhaust, so wondering if anyone had issues. The cap is 52mm, and the Factory Connection cap (BCK52BRN-01) replaces the cap on several models. Some of the models look like they came with the valve type cap. Anyone want to share their thoughts on experiences with replacing with other model OEM (and where to find it), or with the Race Tech or Factory Connection?
  4. Hi all, Does anyone have any experience with installing stainless steel brake lines for the 2016+ WR450F / 2015+ WR250F? I know that the stainless lines for the rear are identical from the YZ450F, but I can't seem to find any stainless lines for the front brake; I'd assume on the WR the front brake lines are a little bit longer so as to clear the display and headlight. Can anyone help me confirm this? Do these brake lines really change the feel of the brakes? Coming from the orange kool aid crew, one of the things I've really missed from those days are the super grabby brakes. I know I'm not going to be able to completely replicate the feel, but anything would be better than the way the brakes feel now.
  5. Hey guys, hoping someone out there is able to help me. I have a 2005 wr450f that I am overhauling/motarding. I'm planning on running a full D/C circuit and will be fully re-wiring the bike and loom myself. I purchased a Baja Designs Regulator/Rectifier and have completed their stator mod successfully. My only question is there is a wire that runs straight off the white stator wire that goes directly into the CDI unit as a red/white wire after the plug. What does this do? Does it need to stay as A/C? Will joining the 2 stator circuits with the Baja Designs upgrade mean there is too much A/C current running into the CDI if I leave it before the regulator/rectifier? Will add the wiring diagram with the wire highlighted later tonight when I get home. Thanks in advance, Dave
  6. Anyone know where I can buy the new 21 WR450F still in the crate? It can be out of state (NC), and I don't mind driving a certain distance or even having it shipped. Apart from trying to save the setup fee, I just don't trust the local dealers and I would just rather finish setup myself. I know this topic has been discussed thoroughly and normally wouldn't be possible but due to covid I figure it should be easier. I know it can be done because a friend just got a honda still in the crate, and I would use them but the only problem is that dealer isn't a yamaha dealer. *Also not trying to get into a discussion on why I should or should not get one in the crate*
