Great bike, odd valve train. I am a die-hard Yamaha guy and I only got this thing to sell later but this thing is an animal and I don't think I'll be getting rid of it anytime soon. I got it with super advanced timing and super lean. But after a JD jet kit, white bros exhaust, and re-timed it really opened up. Everyone should ride one at least once!!! -

PRODUCT DETAILS The White Brothers E-Series muffler is unfortunately no longer available after Vance & Hines bought out White Bros, Its a shame because these mufflers were really good for just about any bike due to the fact you could add or remove discs to tune the back pressure / sound exactly how you want They can still be found as new old stock & in good second hand condition for some models from time to time on ebay- 16 reviews

I thought I would add my 93 XR250R to the garage (again) to document what I have done to it, It looked like something you would find at a wrecking / salvage yard when I got it, It was missing the carby, Front caliper, Headlight, Front guard, Side covers & other odds & ends but I could see that it was actually still in very good condition & it just needed the missing parts replaced & a good tidy up, Luckily the motor is good & runs sweet after fitting an XR250L pumper carby which is now jetted to XR250R specs I am collecting the necessary parts to rebuild the top end soon At this stage n XR's Only seat cover & graphics would make it look a bit better Dunlop D605 fitted on the rear XR's Only stainless exhaust Header pipe Custom fitted White Brothers E-Series muffler (If anyone happens to have the discs or a complete maybe damaged E-Series muffler with the discs & Elliptical end cap setup (which would also be a great donor for what I need) laying round please let me know) New RHK fatbar mounts & Tag 1-1/8" fatbars fitted, Makes the ergo's much better for me, A bit taller & looks sweet too New white 15.9L / 4.2 Gal Clarke tank New 42 tooth Renthal sprocket fitted, + I have a spare 44 teeth Renthal sprocket also Just fitted, Baja Designs headlight, Moose skid plate & some XR's Only (Custom/were to suit XR600 oversize IMS) tank decals / Graphics Very close to an engine rebuild now, I have a new 77mm JE piston kit, Cometic gaskets, Brand new in the packet OEM XR250R camshaft, Brand new Honda rocker cover + lotsa other goodies to sort out the rebuild, Looking for a good used 88-95 XR250R cylinder head, Anyone have one laying round? Just fitted some CRF450R forks & a 2010 CRF450R front wheel using a set of Emig Racing billet triple clamps Time to move on & sell this sweet old 93 XR250, Anyone interested send me a PM! SOLD!!! Went to the new owner after he handed me $2750AU, A bargain really He is very happy with it especially being a very different looking & unique XR250, Sad to see it go but I am very happy with my near new 09 CRF450X which takes my riding level way beyond, The CRF450X is a whole lot more of a bike, Anyone looking to do a bit more than just ride trails should definitely step up to a 450X!- 4 comments

With the White Brothers E-Series mufflers no longer being made & unable to find a secondhand one to fit an XR250 I had no choice but to modify one to fit, After looking at the mounting brackets I new the TRX400 muffler could be made to fit This is basically the same although mine must be a later revision as it has 4 bolts on the end rather than 6 rivets so it can be re-packed easily First step was to drill out all the rivets at the front & disassemble it then trim the front section of the muffler off to clear the frame, 2-1/4" was cut off the front section, 2" would be enough (The shorter the muffler the noisier it will be) After cutting the body of the muffler, Drilling 6 new holes (which need to be precisely in the correct spot to line up with the inlet piece) it was ready to repack, I bought some 2" stainless baffle tubing & removed the 1-3/4" baffle tubing that was inside the muffler, Got some muffler packing/matting type stuff & some stainless scourers from the local supermarket Cut the baffle tubing to the correct length, Slid the necessary amount of stainless scourers over the baffle tubing then a layer of the muffler packing sheet wrapped around that & it made a pretty snug fit when it was slid back into the muffler body I have found the stainless scourers work quite well at soaking up the sound rather than the matting wrapped around the baffle tube which does not allow the exhaust noise to be soaked up in the muffler body I bolted the front section back on rather than using rivets so it can be disassembled again easily if needed My newly fitted XR's Only stainless header ends in 1-3/4" so I bought a 1-3/4" stainless mandrel 180/U-bend to make the intermediate pipe between the header & muffler, Some tricky cutting & working out is needed to make it all line up neatly & once it is TIG welded it will look rather nice, I hope to have the intermediate pipe welded up in the next few days if I get a chance to get my bike to the exhaust shop where I used to work or an engineer shop down the road, Both can do excellent TIG welding just need to see which one of them will be able to do it first? The White Bros muffler should work well with the new header pipe, I did not get a chance to ride it with the new header pipe so with the new header & muffler it should be nice
