I’m building a street tracker from a seond frame I had of a ‘75 XL350, making huge progress but I’m having real trouble finding a motor for the bike. I would like to keep it semi original as far as mechanics but I can’t find a complete XL350 motor anywhere. So my question is, are there any other motors of the same size or a little greater that would fit the frame nicely without modification? Ideally using the same mounting points. I have another XL350 that’s running but I would only pull this motor as a last resort. Any help is appreciated guys! Thanks

Hello, new poster with a new build and looking for insight. I've been working on this 74 Honda 350XL for a while and was hoping for some help as far as a potential fork swap or disc conversion. I want to end up with a nice scrambler build that will be a 50% street 50% dirt capable bike. Bike History: Picked it up for $500 about 8 months ago, went through the engine replaced gaskets and cases, added a mikuni 36, new header from xlint performance, open air intake, antigravity battery, new seat, bars, grips, light, signals. Eventually want to have a nice rebuild to rear frame. It came with the rear shocks on it and they feel good but not against changing them out. Won't let me upload a picture but I will try to figure that out. Thanks for any help available as far a s a fork swap or disc brake option. Also open to other good ideas. BabyKing

so i have had this 74 honda xl350 for about 5 years turning it into a cafe racer. Everytime i get to do the electrical it puts a halt in my plans. I want to convert it to 12v but I was wondering if anyone has converted it to a newer style stator? Any positive input would be greatly appreciated and helpful. Im kinda new to building bikes but not new to turning wrenches. Thanks in advance.

Alright so my plan is to add a 2.15 x 18 (stock rear) wheel to the front of my bike. Original tire is 4.00 x 18. My simple question is can I fit 4.10 x 18’s on both the front and rear of this bike. I love this look and I can’t find any answers that are straight forward thus far. If this (4.10 x 18 tire) setup won’t work for the front, what would be the largest tire I could mount to this wheel that would match the rear the closest without mill work done to the forks. Thanks in advance guys!

Hi all, I recently picked up a 1978 Honda XL350 for $800. It wasn't running when I got it, but I recently rebuilt a CL350 so I figured this wouldn't be an issue. I've rejetted the carb, and am now fine tuning the valve timing, ignition and cam chain adjustment. I used this video as a guide: How to set a Motorcycle Points Ignition, Statically However, when I connect a test light (positive to the wire coming from the points, negative to ground) it doesn't light up at any point in the crank rotation. I know the spark plug still sparks when I kick it over so I'm a bit perplexed. Could this be part of the reason I can't get this thing started? Any advice is appreciated.

I’m looking to drop in a motor for the ol 75 XL350 custom job I have going but before I do I was hoping to find out if there’s a specific motor that will fit nicely in the frame with no modification. I’m looking for greater than or equal to the 350cc displacement. It could be a newer year as long as it fits the ‘75 frame. CB360?? I’d like to keep it to a Honda motor if at all possible. Having real trouble finding another 75 XL350 motor anywhere. eBay, vintage bike pages, even Facebook marketplace! No luck so far in the last 45+ days. Any advice is helpful!
