Poor rear suspension, but very dependable. Always runs, sips gas, easy to handle on most road and no roads.

It's a very good, bang around town dual sport and fun to take on camping trips. Kick start is a little old school and as of May 2014 it has an electrical gremlin that refuses to show itself so the XT is currently not running. :-(

upgraded suspension, currently hanging some new stilts up front, the motor is mostly stock outside of some serious porting intake and exhaust, considering swapping to fuel injection, I'll go over the mountain if the thing 'll keep runnin'.!!

The 1996 Yamaha XT 350 was a great bike but wasn't very dirt oriented with its small front forks and fading swing arm. It had a good bit of power with a very easily maintained motor. Also had one of the easiest kick starts known to man. I could do it with my and, and not just figuratively, I actually did it, multiple times!

Awesome bike. Bulletproof and perfect for my riding style (slow, boring, or over my head). It never quits and seems to relish in being abused. Low end is amazing and gets me out of trouble my skill can't otherwise accomplish.
