  1. Hey guys guess I wasn’t paying attention when I took throttle off but what exactly is this collar for ? Thank you
  2. I am new to dirt biking. Got my 125X in June 2020. So far everything has been good, lots of learning. But chain maintenance takes a while and therefore is not "family friendly" if you know what I mean. Lots of wet and sandy riding down here in Houston aka armpit of america aka the swamp. What I am wondering is if it would make sense to just remove my chain after a muddy ride (clip style is fast) and dump it in a bucket of something with a screen at the bottom to let the dirt settle. Then when I am ready for the next ride take it out and throw it back on the bike and secure with a new $3 clip. Does this make sense? Anybody have recommendation for the type of chain and liquid that I would use for this method?
  3. Hey all, So I am going to be doing my first ever piston change on my 2020 YZ125X in the near future. I have read the manual and watched enough videos to have a good idea on what the heck I am to do, but I still have questions. How finicky do I have to get when it comes to "squish clearance?" and other possibly important specs. I will obviously be torquing down all bolts to their specs as well. I will be putting in the spare gaskets/piston that the bike came with when I bought it new from the dealership. I will be using the same cylinder head (I do want to get an Apex billet one in the future, but maybe on the next piston) From what I understand I will need a torque wrench extension for the top end bolt that is in the power valve opening? Other than that, is it as easy as videos make it appear? Any insight/tips are appreciated, as I said this is my first ever piston change and I would prefer not to f*** it up.
  4. Guys who are running the 125x. What kind of mileage are you seeing out of a Stock tank? I know there are a lot of factors to that question - just looking for average /around. Would a B racer be able to do a 2 hour hare scramble on a stock tank without refueling? I know the yz125 maybe gets 35-45miles On a tank in the woods - I’m wondering if the x is a little better. Thanks !
  5. This is my first ever new bike, picked it up this morning. On the way: FMF Turbinecore 2.1 Acerbis Offroad Skid plate Polisport Swingarm Guards UNI Air Filter Some numbers
  6. For those of you with a YZ125X; if you are looking to modify the governor so the power valves open earlier try the governor spring from the YZ125. It opens the power valves about 1000 rpm earlier. It feels like a smoother transition getting on the pipe. My bike felt like it struggled to get on the pipe sometimes, this mod makes getting on the pipe easier while making the transition less aggressive (smoother). For the $4 it costs and your labor, it a very cost effective upgrade. Installation is similar to the power valve mod on the YZ250x except you replace the spring in lieu of eliminating a washer.
  7. i took off the clutch cover on my 2021 yz125x and there was no gasket, is there supposed to be one or is it sealed by something else?
  8. Hi all. First post here. I have a 2020 yz125x and I put a Lectron H-series carb on it. I set the 5-1 metering rod to its stock length of 2.003inch. When I do a second gear pull the bike stutters and bogs bad. If I turn the choke on the bike pulls strong. To me that means the carb is set to lean. I have turned the metering rod 2 1/2 turns richer to fix the bog. But the bike seams to rich now and spooge is all over the place. I am running yamalube 2R at 32:1. With the stock carb the bog isn’t there and there is Less spooge but I ride from 500-8000 feet and jetting is becoming a pain. Does any one here have experience with with a Lectron on a 125x that can help me out. Thanks.
  9. Hi All, Went to adjust my chain last night and for some reason my axle blocks were different sizes. Sprocket side has 9 notches and the brake side has 11. I bought this bike brand new so I'm unsure if it should be this way or not. Nobody has touched it besides myself. Any insight? I was still able to get the wheel straight measuring with calipers but am confused to why they wouldnt be the same.
  10. Hey Doc, are you aware of changing close ratio gears on an 05Yz125 to be a wide ratio? I looked at the 125x at the 2020 bike had same gears as my 05Yz125. Is there a wider ratio setup out there? I’m riding woods GNCC style. I run a 12/50. Looking to go 12/49. Thoughts.....
  11. I was riding today and I started to hear the bike bog, tried to rev it to keep it alive but just died. I figured I had fouled a plug so I replaced it. The bike did the same thing so I checked if I had gas and the tank was empty. Did I hurt anything on my bike? Should I be worried?
  12. Installed the EE guards and the shrouds poke out due to the clearance. This kinda bugs me so has anyone trimmed the webbing to clear the guards? Does it make the shrouds too weak by trimming them?
  13. So I sold my 2018 KTM300XCW because I realized I’m no Graham Jarvis, it was had to admit but I finally came to terms with it. So I bought the little Zinger to help get me back into the swing of things. First real mod will be springs, they are too stiff for my old carcass and weight. Next might be the tires. The pic is before my first ride!
  14. 13/50 stock. For single track/woods/enduro with little elevation. Am I going to notice going to a 51? Location here in Chesapeake, VA, East Coast.
  15. Well I'm new to this whole forum thing I usually just look at them. So I have a 2001 yz125 that I grew up on. After I got older I moved on to newer bikes and I race harescrambles now. I never got rid of the yz and I would like to bring the ol' girl back to a new glory and update it to be a woods racer. I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any interchangeable parts with the new yz125x? I would like the new wheels as my old silver ones are beat up.
  16. How many HP has the YZ125X? I saw the YZ 125 motocross has around 35 HP but not sure about the X
  17. Just put my top end back together (athena 144), it runs really strong, but there looks to be some “sweating” around the base gasket. I used the paper “green” gasket, which is the thickest of the three in the Athena top end kit, that is what was on the bike when I got it. I noticed this a bit before as well. Cylinder is torqued to spec as in the yamaha manual, cases and cylinder surfaces are flat.. Is this typical, or should I copper-coat the base gasket?
  18. Hello everyone. Thought I would begin following this forum as this is my first Yamaha. I'm 52 and sold my CRF 450, and wanted something light and fun to rip in the desert while my wife is tearing it up on her Honda sport quad. I have wanted a YZ125 since I was a kid and another 2 stroke since my first dirt bike back in the day. I'll be following for tips and maintenance suggestions.
  19. I need to check my spark plug but for some reason the boot wont come off, I've tried to squeeze it and it still wont budge?
  20. Well I love the little zinger! But I have run into a little problem and that is the foot controls. It’s like I’m fat footing the shifter and rear brake, rear brake unintentionally engage and shifter is missing shifts. To me it seams like the reach from the pegs are shorter than my kTM 300 XCW. Does anyone know if this is true? Any recommendations as to setting their positions?
  21. after a little crash on my bike the other day, the clutch lever became extrmely loose and now has no tension, when i pull in the clutch the cable only pulls a small amount and the clutch just stays in the same spot due to lack of tension, the video below shows the problem and im just wondering if anyone cant tell me if im missing something like it fell of in the crash or if the cable is shot? thanks
  22. I just bought a YZ125X and I love it. The power band is perfect for me. I was wondering if anybody knows how much horsepower and torque it produces. Has anybody seen a dyno run?
  23. As the trusty yz125 has been around for years now, what everyone’s thoughts on the best front pipe out there for grunt and overall more power ? Yz125x so it’s already really good but would like to try another front pipe rather than the stocker....
  24. Running a Lectron now, should I switch to a smart carb? Please advise, especially the ones who have ran both and/or tested one or the other.
