What kind of tire do you guys suggest for muddy slippery conditions based on your experience. When the track was dry i tried the mx53 and it was great but as soon as it rain and the track became muddy and slippery then the mx53 wasnt getting the job done. Through my research i came towards the conclusion of getting either mx12 or irc m5b but im open to any other suggestions. Also if you guys could please provide reference for front and back combo that would be great. Image of Track condition is attached below thanks.

I have a 09 yz250f with a 269 big bore anf loads of other goodies. It has blown compression into tye colling system for awhile so i decided to take the head off and take a look. This is where i think i messed up. I could tell there was a depsression from previous head gasket so i figured it just needed a quick surface. I got sand paper and a chunk of granite and got to resurfacing. I was sanding for probly an hour if not longer and there is still a divot. I havnt got to any valve or anything yet but at this point im wondering if ive gone too far. Does anyone know of any markings that may tell me my limit. Im thinkin i may just double or triple up my base gasket but not sure. Ang opinions? Any help is appreciated, thanks

Just curious on this as both bikes seem to have great qualities, but everyone raves about the Honda ergonomics (rider triangle: bar - seat - peg ratios) - is it possible to get similar ergos out of the new YZ250F / YZ250FX series? Never rode a Honda 250f before, and the Yamaha seems fine to me at 5'9", but I guess I just want to know if I'm missing something! I know Keefer has mentioned Raptor pegs for the YZ before, but just wanted to see if anyone on here has had any experience with this before dropping money on Ti pegs. Anyone switched from YZ to CRF due to ergos? All thoughts are welcome. Thanks!

Just getting started on a full rebuild on my 2005 yz250f, and I’ve been looking at different kits. So far I’ve narrowed it down to either a Wiseco or Vertex kit. The thing is, I’ve read some pretty bad stuff about the Wiseco cranks, but all those post are a few years old. My question is whether or not they’ve improved on their quality or if I should go with a Vertex kit. If there’s any other good ones let me know too Thanks ?

Howdy partners, I just got a 2004 yz250f with the stock keihin fcr. While doing a rebuild on the carb I found a decent size crack in the mid body. Any suggestions on where to go from here? Links to an quality fitting carb that won’t break the bank? Thanks in advance!

Hi, so I have a 2014 YZ250F that I just got and it does 100 or more kicks to start cold, but when it’s even a little warm it starts first kick every time . I always kick it from TDC with the fuel enrichment pulled out. The spark plug has been changed and so has the air filter. The oil was also changed. I have also checked the valves and they are perfectly in speck. Any ideas what could be my problem?

Hello! I'm new in the forum and I need some tips for setting my bike! I'm 27 years old and my weight is 132.2 lb. I bought a 22 yz250f in october and I changed bike's springs front with 4.4 and rear 5.1 (standard is 4.6 and 5.6) like race tech calculator said. I set the sag to 105 mm. Fork oil height are 330 cc and clickers in my forks are comp-8 reb-14 shock low comp-10 hi com -1.5 turns reb-14. I rode the bike Sunday, the bike handles good but in braking bumps it's harsh and don't turn and in g outs even the shock is harsh and has poor traction! What can I do to improve the bike? I tought that I can lower the fork oil height for allow the fork move more in the stroke and absorb the braking bumps and for the shock I'm pretty sure that is for the hi comp too low and so it's working in the hard part of the stroke... I hope you can give me some advise! Sorry for my bad english but it isn't my native language.

I recently bought an 04 YZ250f for 1800$ that needed some TLC. It was the cheapest I could find and I just wanted a bike for riding trails every so often. Before I could even enjoy it I had issues with the carburetor and had to rebuild it. After digging into it I realized it needs quite a bit of work and $. My question is, should I sell it to buy a newer model bike or keep adding onto this one? I know it’s an old bike but I didn’t expect the parts to be as expensive as they are. It rides great now but the front fork seals are leaking, all the hardware is rusted, needs new rear shock, new tires, most likely rebuild top end, and the radiator has a small leak. I was wanting a 125 but I got this 250f for such a good deal and I fell in love with it. I just don’t know if it’s worth dumping time an money in it if the newer models are a lot more dependable.

Ok so my brother got this bike a few days ago from a buddy not to many hours he wrecked it the first 30 mins (nothing was broken on the bike and it started up and ran fine) so I ride it today with a buddy and we cruised around for about 2 hours we switched bikes on the way home and stopped to talk to each other and when he went to go fire the bike back up it kicked one fired up I thought it sounded weird then died or something and when he went to kick it again it was locked up I've pulled the valve cover and the clutch case cover and nothing it hung up on anything so I'm just confused Also there it no metal in the oil or oil filter I'm just so confused

If it’s Salvageable/reusable, what would the best way be to go about fixing it? None of the gouges affected the valve seat, it was caused failed valve seals I BELIEVE. I have a new top end, full gasket kit already ordered.

Hey all- Using the search, I didnt have any luck finding anything about replacing my OE water pump with a Boyesen Super-Cooler Do I need to remove the side cover to do it (shaft/bearings/etc), or can I just replace the impeller... Off Season is coming and if I need to replace all of the other pieces, then I'll do it during the down time The service manual does not address the replacement of the impeller alone thanks, everyone for your time RIDE HARD!

Hey y'all, got a 2016 yz250f it was running fine yesterday I just pulled it out of the garage started up in 3 kicks cold with choke, I let it idle for a little bit gave it a little rev and it died, currently running map 5 and tried starting again and just wouldn't wanna budge, pretty frustrated with it as of right now, buddy of mine tried to start it but ended up giving it a bunch of throttle Smh, tried to get it to start today, it almost started but then instantly died, kinda stumped any help would be appreciated I'm pretty new to the fuel injected 250 world, been riding the bike for a couple months and would change oil every 5 hours, 56 hours on the motor in total. *Edit* the bike also does have a yoshimura rs4 exhaust and the old owner told me it was tuned for it

Doing a rebuild on a 2007 YZ250F. What brands of parts are good? What do I stay away from? Looking to get a complete kit and add in anything else I need. But don’t want to buy a shit brand and have to do it again in 6-12 months time. Seen wrench rabbit, hot rods and wiseco on searches so far that get stocked in stores here in aus.

So, bought a stripped down bike (07 YZ250F) and the carby was already apart. (They lost interest apparently) can anyone tell me the part that is circled and what it’s for as it looks blocked off intentionally to me. it does not have a thread and pushes in and out. The parts breakdown I can find online don’t have this section apart so I’m thinking it’s been disassembled a bit too far? i bought a rebuild kit online for the specific bike I have and this part isn’t contained in the kit.

I have just realized I don't acualy have a spark arrestor and I don't want to start a forest fire. I have a stock 2016 yz250f and I don't want to spend a lot of money. I can't seem to find a spark arrestor that will fit for under like $75. Any recommendations or specific spark arrestors that would fit? Thanks!

Hello, my 2014 Yz250f has a slight problem to it,This problem came out of the blue. every time I ride and I give it like almost half throttle, it will bog and start to sputter, but when I give it full throttle. It runs good like nothing is wrong. I did mostly everything you can do on it, new fuel pump, injectors oil ani freeze, Timing set and it still has this problem. Can someone give me some ideas?
