  1. hey My name is connor and i have a 1985 honda xr 600r with duel carbs. when i received it it had great compression and no spark. i put a ricky stator in it and spark is great. i went to start it up after i cleaned the carbs thoroughly, but i am afraid to split them apart. it started up and was riding great, but also shooting fuel out of the air box, the next day she just cut off while riding and wouldnt start back up, i took of the carbs and on the low end carb the jet was unscrewed. i screwed it back in and but the carbs back on, and the bike was hard to start but wont idle nor rev up it just bogs then dies, please help!!!!!!

Hey everyone just got a quick question about my bike since I couldn’t find anything on the next, Ive recently brought my first 2stroke it is a 2007 yz250 2stroke and It’s been oil fouling plugs like crazy at least every second ride, I’ve checked the top end and that seems fine so I’ve decided to set the air screw back to default since the previous owners must of messaged with it. does anyone happen to know the factory setting for the air screw on my bike, because I don’t feel like blowing it up anytime soon😂 thanks

HI GOT A 2007 CRF250X STARTS WELL HOT OR COLD CHOKE WORKS AS IT SHOULD RESPONSIVE TO THROTTLE BUT WONT SHUT DOWN TO TICK OVER RUNS ON A FEW SECONDS THEN WHEN IT DOES SETTLE IT REVS UP ON ITS OWN SLIGHTLY THEN SETTLES BACK TO TICK OVER THEN REPEATS ,GOT AIR SCREW OUT 2 TURNS ,ADJUSTED AIR SCREW BUT IT DOES NOT SOLVE THIS PROBLEM,ANY POINTERS WOULD BE APPRECIATED THANKS K
  4. I bought a lean running '03 CRF230F. The previous owner had swapped in a high compression piston, removed the baffle, but did not adjust the carburetor or jetting (to my knowledge). The bike would regularly backfire on deceleration. Anyways, I did the fuel screw procedure and I have adjusted the fuel screw to 2 3/4 turns out because that is where it idles the best and the bike now only backfires when shifting into 2nd occasionally. However, acceleration in high gears feels a bit delayed and boggy. Too rich? Too lean? Should I bring my fuel screw in to 2 1/2 turns instead (bike seemed to idle just as good at this adjustment, with a little bit more popping while riding). My spark plug looks good to me, but I'm open to different opinions. Bottom line: Slight popping when shifting from first to 2nd, high gear acceleration feels delayed but I can't tell if it's a lack of fuel (lean) or a bit too much (rich). What's the next step? Thanks!
  5. My 2001 cr250r won’t idle more than 6-7 seconds after it is warmed up. I tried messing with the air screw and idle screw and I could not get it to idle. The bike is also running rich since I fouled 3 plugs within a short amount of time and they were black in color. I looked at the pilot and main jet and both were the stock size. Getting the airscrew in the correct place may stop it from fouling. My question is would dropping the main jet a size help in idling? Thanks for the help
  6. Picked up a 2003 KLX400R a few months ago and since then I've been having some issue with my idle. At first, the idle seemed way too high so I turned it down and the bike would barely stay running, so I turned it up again. After doing that, the bike would hang revs and would take a few seconds to return to idle. I took the carb apart, and replaced the vacuum plate seal (since this has the FCR39 and heard that the seal could be warped due to carb cleaner). After doing that I was still having the same issue: the bike would still die on idle, regardless of how high or low the idle is set. Here is my question: what should I do to fix it? Is it possible that the idle air screw is set incorrectly? I set it to the 2.5 turns out that I've been seeing online, but that seems like it's either way too much or way too little air. The bike has the stock exhaust, and the 3x3 mod has NOT been done to it.
  7. Hey guys! I recently cleaned and rejetted my carb. I live at about 8k feet. Here are my specs; 2009 kx250f Main: 160 Pilot: 42 Needle: Stock (I think it is set to the 4th clip) Now, upon putting it back together I started her up with the choke on and had no issue. I turned off the choke and it abruptly died on me. After a few adjustments I figured it was a dirty pilot jet. I took it out and sure enough it looked gunked up inside. I cleaned it but I had a brand new 42 and decided to use that and save the old one as an extra. After I got it put back together I was able to get it to idle without the choke on but I had to loosen my air/fuel screw quite a lot. Its at about 3.5 turns out. Still in the learning stages on all this so I am not too sure what I should do. I am guessing that a different sized pilot would do the trick but I am not sure if I should go up or down in size. I was thinking about putting a 45 in it. Most of the forum posts I have read everyone is running a 42 or 45 with best success. What do you think?
  8. Hey guys, I recently bought a 2001 DRZ400s with 5000 miles and I'm having some trouble jetting it properly even after buying and installing the JD jet kit. Important bits: The bike has a stock exhaust and I did the 3x3 airbox mod. Previously it had the 22.5 pilot, 162 main, and the fuel screw had been adjusted (brass removed but stock screw). With this setup it was a quick little bike, but it popped A LOT on deceleration and it missed a little on idle. Now I've installed the JD kit with 22.5 pilot, 150 main, extended screw at 2.5 turns out, and blue needle at 3rd position. Currently with this setup it feels noticeably slower but it seems to run better, if that makes sense at all. It idles well so I assume the pilot and fuel screw are adjusted properly and it doesn't pop at all now on decel, but it feels really down on power especially in the top end. When I go WOT and then back off a little it seems to accelerate a little more which leads me to believe the main jet is too SMALL, but I'm already at a 150 with stock exhaust...that said, it had a 162 and seemed more powerful. Huh. My next step is to pull the spark plug and see what it tells me, but I'm hoping someone has some input for me. Am I the only one the JD kit hasn't worked out for? Thanks, J
