  1. Just picked up a used 2005 DRZ400sm last week. Previous owner said it was a big bore. Anybody know what make it is? Also, the bike has a full FMF exhaust that backfires a lot when rolling off, just wondering if there is an easy way to tell if the carb was re-jetted before I buy a jet kit.
  2. I installed a Cylinder Works 434cc kit a while back that came with all necessary gaskets. I'm now having some head work done and need to replace gaskets. Is the big bore head gasket different from the stock head gasket? What ways can you measure them to know?
  3. Hello all, just wanted to give a good unbiased review of the BBR 120 kit for the Honda XR100 in case anybody would like one in the future. I have been fixing and flipping XR100s for about 2 years now as a side gig. Last year I bought one and got it running, however as the buyer was on his way to my place it started pouring oil and white smoke out the pipe. Compression test revealed 30lbs of compression so it was time for a rebuild. I'm a cheap guy, especially when I'm out to make a dollar, however I'm not about putting band aids on stuff and fooling people into buying junk. So I decided to begrudgingly bite the bullet and pay the 230 bucks for the BBR 120 kit with the cam (I know the cam may or may not be a joke but it was cheaper than buying new OEM valve train parts). Quality of everything in the kit was very satisfactory. All components came with a coat of clean oil on them which I liked. Finished buttoning it up and it started on the second kick. I'm a believer in run it like you stole it during engine break ins and boy did that thing run great. Didn't skip a beat and went from a slug to pulling the front end in 1st 2nd and 3rd if you leaned back. Today I picked up the recommended 110 main jet and threw it in without any other adjustments to the carb. That thing now runs like a rocket for what it is and the 110 main jet really lit it up and seems to be perfect in the stock carb. Needless to say, I am NOT selling this bike anymore lol. Great product so far time will tell though. Even if you're a cheap guy like me it's well worth the money IMO. Hope this may have helped somebody out for reference.

  6. I found a complete BW80 roller for 150 bucks. I've always been interested in these fat tire bikes, so I began thinking of a way to fit a built 212 Predator engine in it. After a couple days I began the project. I will be posting images as the project progresses. Feel free to throw some ideas my way, or ask questions. Here we go! So I began with drilling out the tabs behind the original shock mount just to give the shock a little more stiffness. I weight 170, and by doing this it kept me from bottoming out. I do plan on figuring out what size rear shock I can buy that will lift the bike a little more, you'll see why soon enough.
  7. Hello TT new here but I’ve been referring to these helpful forums for some time. Recently bought a 17 yz450 leftover nearing the end of last year. This is my first 450 and well first actual big boy bike other then a 125 ttr I had. I went with 450 due to my weight (6’2 270-285 depending on how much beer I’ve drank) and tho it was a very steep learning curve, the bike is an absolute tank and a blast to ride. I ride mainly in the woods and single track. The bike is naturally stiff but I do squat it. never bouncing off the tire, but I’m looking for suggestions on sag and fork rebound. Should I just click it as stiff as she can go? Also open for any good springs or parts recommendations and overall riding tips for a new big guy. Thanks a bunch and glad to be here ??
  8. What an awsome kit ! so I got caught up in looking at dyno charts and reading pretty much every thread on this kit before committing to it. They dyno guy kinda harped on it. Definately doesnt go with my experience with the kit. Ive always loved the versatility and fun factor a yz250 2 stroke has (track/woods/ whatever) and wanted more power- plain and simple- I own an Af500, a '15 yz450f and have had bikes for 20 years- I ride track intermediate and woods as fast as some of the better guys- a 450 in the woods was a tank- went right back to the yz after less than a season. overall the stock yz is pretty fast but compaired to my other bikes it feels like a 125- What the esr kit does is keeps the personality ( s9 porting) of the stock yz but adds gobs of smoooooth controlable torque- so nice in the woods- What do I mean by that? Im talking about the "you just entered a whoops section and the front is kinda dropping low and you need INSTANT controllable power to lift it a little without loosing control -power- That is what the esr kit does really well- let alone you can run a gear high and torque around rarely having to clutch it. Really really good woods bike and so much flickier than a 450 or an af500- On a track the 325 pulls probably 25-30% better than a stock motor- less downshifting, good last minute power and again sooooo light- also you dont need to rev the motor as much so the suspension is not bound up- just fast and floaty light- again- soooo fun - And as far as compairing it to a ktm300- Ive ridden 3 of them(some moded-some stock) honestly that motor is just too smooth and kinda boring- I always feel like Im on the verge of bogging out on them- Weird because I know they are fast and guys love em- but too pricy for me and I think they make most of their power because they have very tight tolerances which probably wear pretty quick- I feel like my huge piston will probably wear more slowly and continue to make good power So I looked at the dyno charts etc. and in looking at them they kinda predicted what the bike would be like but in reality it is significantly better than the stock motor- I will never run a stocker again- I know you can mod stockers with pipes, porting, etc. but you generally need to use race gas which I wanted to avoid and im sure the same benefits you get from it would apply to an esr if you wanted to go down that path. I just wanted a faster, durable ride that did fine with pump gas and that's what I got. The whole steel liner argument seems kinda silly to me as for the 10 years Ive owned yz250's I generally would not get a huge benefit redoing the 3rd or 4th top end without replating the cylinder any way. Guys on the forum show some nice looking pistons with 80 hours on them and claim the motor is running very well. jetting took a little time and my results are as follows for sea level to 3500 feet main:165 pilot:42 needle; n3cj top clip position air screw ;3/4 out sea level- 1.5 out 2500 feet fmf fatty with turbine 2 spark arrestor I also put the little spacer in the exhaust described by others runs very well and never fouls- crispy motor overall super happy I committed to the kit and eddie is a great guy to deal with- Why did I write this review- cause I want eddie to sell a ton of kits and keep it around forever-
  9.
