  1. I got a question. I own a 2016 KX 85. It ran amazing after it first bought it used. I was riding one day with a bogging issue and about 35 minutes of riding I shut it off to take a break. Came back 20 minutes later and it would not start.I changed the spark plug, cleaned out the carb, checked the reeds, and tried hill starting it but nothing .When ever I try to hill start it I can hear it trying to crank and It starts for like half a second but then dies. There is spark coming from the plug though.I took the cylinder off and the piston and cylinder are &%$#@!ed.The piston rings were stuck in the grooves and I had to use pliers and a screwdriver to get it out. There was a ton of blow-by and the cylinder was scored.I bought a new piston already but how can I fix my cylinder.Im thinking of getting it repaired and replayed by either millennium,PowerSeal USA, or usnicom. This is my first time owning a 2 stroke.Any answers or tips.
  2. I have a chinese 125cc apollo 007, I have thoroughly inspected the carb; its clean with no clogs/gunk; It has spark and the spark plug is new, it has clean gas. I can kick it for 10 minutes and all that happens is the base of the exhaust pipe gets warm. The only thing that is wrong with it is there is a chip on the flywheel magnet, and it ran just fine like that for a few days. Another bike i have ran fine with the same flywheel i put on the apollo, they are identical. any ideas/advice would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Said I recently brought a Suzuki RM 125 2000 this Autum for £1,150.00, about 1400 USD. I haven't rode for a few years so didn't want to spend too much on a bike again if I didn't get back into it. I've been out on the bike a few times and considering the year it seems not too bad. I have now stored it for the winter and I am looking forward to spring and getting back into MX. I will be looking to do a minor over hall of the bike next year, fork seals, air filter, exhaust baffle ect. One thing that is playing on my mind though, in the past, about 10 years ago I used to ride KTMs, notably a 125 sx 2004 and 125 exc 2006, fantastic bikes. The RM does feel notably slower than both those bikes, lower end and power band, it seemed to bog alot more so need to cluch and down alot. The guy I brought the bike off said it had seen better days when got it. When I got it he had Just done rebuild on it and ran it in. I saw the pictures. Taking this on to consideration, and the age of the bike, I have no idea how many times the engine has been cracked. I have been advised that there is a limit as to how many times you want to crack an engine and rebuild it. It is running not too badly, I do however want to jet it and have a look at the I side my self. If it does need a new piston and rings, would it be worth putting the money into such a old bike? I say this because I like riding on the pipe and tearing the f out of it. I.e would such an old engine be able to handle that amount of revs a.d how many engine rebuilds realistically can you get out of an old bike before it's days are up? One thing to consider as well is it is 20 years old, before to long may be worth something if in good condition stored?

  5. Hi forum, I took the carb off my 2009 yz250f at the beginning of the summer with plans on cleaning it, I got a new job and had no time to play around with it. Over the past couple of weeks I finally got around to cleaning everything with carb cleaner and removing any surface rust with fine wire brush. I have since put the carb back on the bike and changed the spark plug... and the bike doesn't start. I turned the fuel screw two turns back from full way, and can't figure out whats going on. I just want the thing fire up already, if you think you can help please comment thanks.
  6. I just bought a 1998 Kawasaki kx80, and I'm gonna need some help getting it running, so any help that anyone could provide would be great. The bike had a little bit of fuel in it, but it mostly looked like oil, so i'm guessing that the gas evaporated. It was looking very blue inside there. I put in some mixed fuel but not a lot, i'm not actually sure if it was the right mix. I tried kick starting it and it has some compression, but it wouldn't start at all. I tried push starting it and kicking it into second, and it got a lot closer to starting, but still would not fire up. Then I realized that the clutch was not engaging. When I pull the lever, I can see the cable moving, so I think it is something inside the bike. Also, when I pull the lever, I know its supposed to have some tension as you pull it in farther, but the tension does not change at all, like its not doing anything. I know I probably need to get inside the clutch side of it, but what is wrong with it, and what do I need to do? I'm going to clean the carburetor because that is probably one of the main problems, and I will also try cleaning the air filter. I know that it also has a blown head gasket, which is pretty easy to fix, and I can do that by myself. I also checked the spark plug, and it was super oily, and I cleaned it quickly, and made sure it was getting spark. It was sparking, so I put it back, and tried push starting some more times, and it got a little closer, but it still isn't starting. The bike is also super oily/greasy all over, and I have no idea why, is there a specific reason for this, or just because it has been sitting? One other thing that is wrong with it is that the rear brake works, but is super stiff, and when I push it down, it doesn't want to come back up so I have to pull it back up. The return spring does look a little rusty, and everything around the rear brake system does look a little rusty. I'm going to take it apart and lubricate it and see if that helps at all. What I know I need to do: Clean carburetor, clean air filter, replace head gasket, drain all the fuel in the tank and put the correct mixture in, check the oil and all the fluids, What I need answers to: Why isn't the clutch engaging, and what do I need to do to fix it. Should I get a new spark plug just in case, and why is it so oily in there? What else do you guys think could be wrong with it, and what do I need to do to it? Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.
