  1. Hi my brother has a 2006 trx300ex and we were starting to go ride and about 3 minutes into our ride he stopped because he noticed the front right side of the quad sagging down and we looked at it and the Front right shock was snapped at the bottom where it connects to the A arm and oil was leaking out of it. Has anyone ever had this happen to them?
  2. My girlfriend and I just purchased two sr170tr bikes online. I put them both together, loctite bolts/screws with blue loctite, changed oil with 10w-40 non synthetic, oiled the air filter and filled them up with premium gas. My bike started after a couple kicks and is keeping idle/running fine. The second bike though has been extremely difficult to kick vs mine. It will occasionally kick but it stops/gets stuck so often you basically break your foot in the process. And when it does kick it has much more resistance in general. This is all based off of comparison with the working sr170tr. After many attempts to start the bike (checking spark plug, making sure wire connections are tight, and 100 difficult kicks) I noticed the manifold intake is cracked. Again this bike is new and never been started before so this was a major bummer... I have nearly zero experience with bikes and dont know how to go about this. Ive emailed the company that sent me the bikes about the broken manifold intake. But scratching my head about the difficult kick start issue. Will the broken intake have anything to do with the difficulty of kicking the engine? Thank you!
  3. I have a 2009 klx 110 with a totaled engine and I'm wondering what type of engine I could replace it with. I've searched but only found engines for Honda crf 50's and cant find any that would hook up to a klx 110 frame. And before you say fix the current motor, the transmission is garbage, engine blew up so it also needs a top end rebuild, and both the engine cases have been broken with pieces missing. This happened because the slot where the Kickstarter shaft went into the case broke inside the engine and someone continued to run it while a chunk of the engine case was bouncing around inside. Also I'm wondering if they sell a kit where I could mount brackets on the frame to put a motor made for the Honda engines.
  4. I recently bought a 1986 XR250R that had a broken shifter shaft. I already have the new part but i'm having some difficulty splitting the two crank cases. I have the top end completely dismantled and I was able to split the two cases about 3/4 of an inch but something is not allowing to split all the way. I haven't pulled the clutch and would prefer not to, I just need to know the simplest way to split the two cases I don't have any specialized tools or anything like that. Is it possible to pull off the flywheel to split the cases and ignore the clutch all together? Thank you in advance for any replies.
  5. I had a moment of jackass and broke a dog off my clutch basket on my RT180 trying to break the crank nut. To my utter disappointment there are none of these available online that doesnt come without the whole engine. So what can I do? I guess I'll stitch it back together let the chips fall. Anyone ever do this? or would you?
  6. I have a gas tank on its way for next week but i want to ride without gas splash everywhere. Any cheap fixes?
  7. Hi everyone. I recently got myself a 250 to hit some trails. Today I noticed this hole and looks like some sort of seal is missing or broken in the centre. what is this? what do I need to sort this? when I run the bike smoke comes out. Not loads but it is visible.. thanks.
  8. The 250SX West Region returns from a seven week break this weekend in Seattle, Washington, but Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki will be without rookie Austin Forkner. The team announced today that Forkner crashed during a practicing session and due to soreness in his right hip will sit out this weekend. According to the team, his return is “being evaluated on a race by race basis.” Forkner was coming into his own as the series headed for a break in February, garnering two podiums in the last three rounds. Aside from a crash in Oakland and subsequent 22nd place finish, Forkner has been a model of consistency in his first year, finishing inside the top five in four of six rounds. This is the first race Forkner has missed in his pro career, which began last summer in Lucas Oil Pro Motocross.
  9. Hey I’m looking for any input from people who have gone through the broken collarbone experience. I’m currently 5 months “recovered” and looking at potential surgery if it doesn’t stop being a “delayed” union. Seems to be doc keeps pushing off surgery. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Or had delayed surgery? Trying to figure out best course of action as far as getting a second opinion if my docs not on the ball with pulling the trigger on surgery. Not confident with how it feels and not interested in living with a half healed collarbone.
  10. This replaces the tube that connects the two carbs on a 1987 Honda XR600R (it may fit other years). Made in the USA. Constructed of TPU (solvent safe plastic.) Its durable stiff abrasion resistant yet flexible enough you never have to worry about breaking it when you're taking apart your carbs. Fits the o-ring perfectly and slips into the carb nice and tight. Matches the rear shock coil. If you would like to buy one contact me via e-mail. They cost $20 Shipping is free (anywhere in the USA). $10 off for active duty or retired military. Cjmrizek@gmail.com Make your subject: XR600r
  11. Hey guys, I have a wrf 250 2015 model with 3600kms on it. The back story- Ive had many issues with the bike bogging out and not starting again. Its been taken to the mechanics multiple times. It recently got a new ignition coil because it had blown. Shortly after I got it back same thing happened it bogged out and wouldn't start. Mechanics reckon it was a fouled plug and just leaned out the mixture. After going pretty hard up a dirt road I stopped and it wouldn't start again and flashed this engine code 3 long 3 fast which is apparently for the coil again. Why does this keep happening? And where should I start with trying to fix it
  12. So this 1998 rm250 I bought for $750 so far I have put a front tire on it, neck bearings, carb kit, ordered a clutch and new cables. I noticed the kick start lever was cracking and started looking for a new or aftermarket one to replace it. Gotten a lot worse after a few times riding. Oem ones are $300ish and no way am I spending that kinda money on one kick start lever. I researched caltric aftermarket ones and they are no longer available or out of stock. As far as I can find 1996-2004 should work but, am having a hard time finding one. If anyone has one I would gladly buy it from you. If anyone knows of other makes/models etc that will work as a replacement please post it up! I've found several posts about this issue but, no conclusions. I found a steel one that may work for $34 idk. The spline count and shaft size seems to be correct. I may have my buddy try to weld my messed up one if nothing else. Thanks in advance
  13. So I purchased a yz426f cylinder with missing chunk after my yz450f cylinder experiment. Reasoning was that it worked fine with wider and taller chunks on 2 sides. After purchasing I realized it was perpendicular to the yz450f cutouts(oblivious for installing wristpin) but after inspection and install I verified the bottom oil ring didn't come down that far. But on my ongoing spare parts and need part(head) searches I've seen another cylinder missing same chunk. Now my original theory that perhaps it was dropped or ignorantly crushed in a vice or similar tool seems incorrect. Tried searching this forum and Google but only get chunk missing from everything but the cylinder or it pertains to 2 stroke which have ports that affect timing. So I figured I throw a hail Mary and see if everyone's vast knowledge on motorcycles/small engines I will find my answer.
  14. I don’t know how to hell I did this but I need help. Does anyone know the name of the part. I have been looking and even went to the local shop and they just gave me a piece of paper and I am stumped.
  15. So... clutch works fine the hole day riding then i go back home to do a oil change, first one after top end rebuild. After that i leave my house and ride for 10min then suddenly clutch loses pressure completely but comes back little bit after few pumps. So then i check the fluids, and there really isn't any. I fill it up and pump the air out of the system so no more air coming out but sill lacking pressure. Now here it starts getting interesting, when i hold my clutch it engages the clutch but after 5 sec holding it in it loses all pressure. Also it feels very soft when the clutch lever is all the way out when i start pulling it engages. I have bled it the correct way and got all the dirty stuff out. There are no visible leaks and i have replaced the slave gasket. All help is appreciated🙄
  16. Greetings, I have broken 3 of these shafts on my 2003 YZ450F. I am wondering if there is a combination of parts i can buy to convert it into a newer shaft or if a newer shaft will fit? I know I know, i shouldn't start the bike with the throttle open, but its force of habit as being an old school two stroke guy. I purchased a complete assembly off a 2006 and it will not fit in my case, it is 20mm thick not 16mm thick like the 2003 shaft. Also if anyone is selling some parts, i am interested. Any help is much appreciated.
  17. Hello everyone, So about a week ago I was riding when my bike seized. I brought it home and took of the cylinder. Nothing seemed damage, I checked crank bearings, piston bearings, everything I could without splitting cases, and so I just cleaned everything and put it back together. When I start it, it seems to have more "resistance" however I didn't replace the piston so I shouldn't have m,ore compression. When it starts it makes a terrible sound like engine knock but I checked the crank bearings. The sounds is loud and clunky. If I let the bike go into low RPMs it just dies and almost seizes. Any ideas would be great otherwise Ill bring it into a shop. Thank you!
  18. Was riding my 450, testing out a new speedometer, shifted into 2nd, moved a couple feet and heard a loud crack noise from engine area. Will not turn over, sounds like its jammed or seized from moving. My guess is tat the timing chain just exploded and fouled everything up. Haven't found time to open it up. Thought I'd go to forums to get some opinions on what to look at first. As far as back round info: Engine was opened up to replace some gaskets. replaced my valves and adjusted rockers to .05mm. Timing chain taken apart a couple times. Shifts through gears fine even though it doesn't run. I am not very fond of ktms or dirt bikes in general but fairly mechanically inclined. I don't know what to do so here I am on the forums. Any help or advice is much appreciated. Thank you.
  19. Recently I was Riding my 2003 TTR125L in the trails when my frame and my bottom motor mount broke. Is there anyway to fix it so that it is rideable?
  20. I was along for a lovely ride from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon on my 2007 crf 450 X. The engine had been running great, even at the high elevation of Flagstaff. Jetting was perfect and cooling was excellent. I was just ripping along wide open I had a sudden engine catastrophe. It went *clatter clatter clatter* and I grabbed the clutch lever, rolled to stop, and wept. But don't worry because this story has a happy ending. The bike is fixed and working beautifully now; actually it's better than ever and will likely become my next desert/rally race bike. Upon draining the oil, here's what I found. Copper/gold colored metal chunks.
  21. Hi there, About two days ago I broke my pinky finger on my left hand, playing basketball. Now I possibly have surgery tomorrow. My question is, do you think it would be ok to ride with on the weekend if its only strapped? its pinky finger so it just sits on the bars just holding on, no clutch use for it. I assume I couldn't do too much of anything to it if I'm just going easy riding on open farmland? Been riding with my broken toe the day after I broke it, and just had an x-ray on it today to make sure it's all good. Its fine, so I'm hoping that you guys would have any advice on if I should ride this weekend?
  22. Got this 2007 ktm 250 sxf years ago used from a guy who use to race. Only road it a handful of times before it sat in my garage for about 5 years. Now that I’m getting back into the sport I noticed the welding Bead. Could this be the reason I’m having trouble starting the bike??Already cleaned air filter, carburetor, spark plug, etc. I’m new so don’t rag on me lol.
  23. ALL HELP appreciated. Bike: 2006 CRF450x Supermoto Back story: about 3 weeks ago went down on the pavement the bike landed on the left side, nothing broken other than bent shifter and a broken foot peg bolt. [to what I can see]. Rode home the bike (in pain) the bike sat for about 3 weeks while I let my body heal and worked on getting out the broken bolt and replacing the bent shifter. [Bike and Body ready to ride again] The following ensues. Day 1: Started the bike up no problem using the electric start (seemed little bit louder than normal) rode down the street after about 5-6min of riding bike started to bog and wanting to die after slowing down for a red light the bike died. Would not start electric start or a kick, had to do the walk of shame and push the bike out of the road traffic. Got the bike started back up 5 mins later with choke on and on the ride home the same thing happen once more. That night did a oil change and looked at the coolant [ full to the brim] Day 2: After thinking about it... thought maybe my idle screw messed up from the crash. started to messed with the idle and the fuel screw. This seemed to some what help and got a quick 15min ride in no problems running a bit rich maybe had some backfires. Day 3: Added slip on FMF muffler that I ordered to replace the other crappy aftermarket muffler. took the bike out side and the electric start didn’t work just clicked away.. the bike started with the choke on using the kick start. [did not want to start as easy as it always does AT ALL] bike idled high for 1 min while I tinkered with the idle and fuel screws again, noticed smoke coming from the water pump area [front lower right] a plastic tube was touching the water pump maybe causing the smoke. turned off bike immediately. after the bike was off a small bit of white smoke was coming out the exhaust [not like oil smoke like (fire-ish) smoke maybe due to the brand new slip on.] So... what does everyone think whats my next move. Did I clog up my radiator when I a crashed? Break my water pump? Is the bike overheating? mess up my fueling? Please let me know! thank you.
