  1. Hey there, new to TT. I have scavenged the internet for all possible answers to my problem. I recently purchase a 2003 CRF150f for my girlfriend. The bike ran but wouldn't idle. The guy claims he rebuilt the carb but had the bike sitting for 6 months or so. Got the bike home and tore the carb apart cleaned it all out. It has stock jetting by the way. Once I thoroughly cleaned the whole bike I put the carb back on and was able to get the bike idling with the fuel screw around 1.25 to 1.75 turns out. I was excited I got it to idle but couldn't get it to rev past idle. The rpms drop with the slightest twist of the throttle and the bike eventually dies. Looking to see if anyone has had a similar issue or would possibly have a solution. I still have the snorkel on the airbox but plan to remove it once I get the new jets I ordered. I picked up a 42 and 45 pilot jet, as well as a 112 and 115 main jet. It seems from everything I have read the 42/112 and 45/115 are the go to combinations with the snorkel removed. Thanks in advance for the help.
  2. So when rebuilding my carb on my 99 DR350SE I realized I have a problem. The metal tubing that spans top to bottom on the right hand side of the carb is broken at the top threaded connection. First of all, what does this do? I assume its part of the pilot circuit but cant really find a good schematic or free service manual. Secondly, does anyone know where I can source this part? It's not in any of the rebuild kits, nor is available through BikeBandit or the likes. Any ideas? I have attached a picture that shows the part in question. Thanks!
  3. I am the proud owner of a new 2018 YZ250X. (Thank you to those who helped me affirm my choice on this thread: went in to get YZ250FX, left with YZ250X) In all of my research, one thing was clear: there are a few strongly recommended modifications. I figured now -- while the bike is new, the weather is bad, and my motivation is high -- is the time to ask this question: what mods should I do right away? Here are the categories that seem to be most prevalent... Carburetor Jetting? I live in Atlanta and will be riding primarily at around 700-1,000 feet above sea level. Any suggestions? (I've worked on 2-strokes before, but not for years, so a bit more explanation than some of the jetting shorthand in posts I've seen would be much appreciated!) Hand Guards? I don't suspect to be doing much bashing through trees, but it's hard to even find a picture of a YZ250X without hand guards. Any suggestions for versions that do not require moving levers and switches? And since they are just a metal bar and a piece of plastic, any reason not to go the eBay route like these? Skid Plate? Again, not planning to bash on rocks any time soon, but maybe this is an easier addition on a new, clean bike? (and helps protect for resale?) Spark Arrestor? My sons and I (they are on TTRs) will be mostly riding Durhamtown and Highland Park to start, but maybe eventually we venture further. Will I likely need one? I ask because maybe this should be done at the same time as (if) rejetting the carburetor so that doesn't have to be done twice? (presuming done at all, this post says not near sea level) Anything else? Thank you for any suggestions, especially any specific recommendations on any of the above or anything I missed.
  4. I have a 99 Suzuki rm250 I am completely restoring. I rebuilt the top end and didn’t touch the carb other than pulling it off and I can’t seem to get it to run right. As soon as I fired it up it revved super high and the only way I could keep it down was by hitting kill switch every so often. Only ran it for about 10-15 seconds and now I’ve torn the carb all apart to clean it anyway. My questions are where do I find the information to set the carb to stock settings and should the throttle slide thing be all the way closed when you’re off the throttle? Thanks
  5. I have an ugly 1987 XR600R that doesn't have brakes, has the wrong exhaust, needs axle bearings all around, doesn't have the auto compression release set up. But it runs really well and is extremely fast, all of the hoses except the fuel line have been removed from the carbs. I also have a 1985 600 that is in much better shape overall, but runs much weaker. The carbs on the 85 still have all the oem hoses hooked up. Do any of these hoses hinder the power of the engine? (like an egr on a car)? Or does the power difference come from the different exhaust pipes (less back pressure on the 87)?
  6. Looking at a JD Jetting kit for my 2005 KDX200. Does anyone have any experience with it?
