  1. Hey guys I could really use some help. I bought a 2005 CRF 450x that has an aftermarket air filter, full FMF exhaust system (pipe and header), removed backfire screen, and removed air snorkel. Bike idles and starts just fine, but when I hold the throttle anywhere from barely at all to about 1/2 it bogs, wants to die, and backfires. Seems like lean running conditions to me because if i leave the choke on the problem mostly goes away. Additionally, if i move the air screw out almost all the way (to the point where it could vibrate off), it seems to clean up a little bit. I am trying to determine whether bigger jet(s) would fix it or if its something else. My dad thought it might be the float level, but I'm really not sure. Thanks in advance for your help!
  2. 9,000 miles on the bike. Disclaimer, I am pretty new to this so my terminology might be off and I probably am doing something dumb. I can get to start and idle fine, full smooth range of RPM in neutral or any gear with the clutch pulled in. Here is the issue, under load It will go into 1st and 2nd gear but it's sluggish to get the RPM up, after 2nd gear I can hardly get it past 4-6k RPM. Its odd because the bike feels and sounds smooth but the power just is not there. I thought maybe it was just running overly rich due to the smoke it was letting out, I tried to lean it out with the pilot screw and this did add some pep but same issue was going on. Some background. The bike was running not great towards the end last season, it would inconsistently bog down on high RPM. It had trouble revving smoothly under no load and in neutral. So beginning of this season I pulled the carb and cleaned it (first time puling a carb). I cleaned out the jets and all the areas with Carb cleaner and poked wire through the jet holes. I inspected the float for dry-rot but did not measure the angle. Considering the bike is now running worse, I'm thinking I must have done something wrong with the Carb. To access the pilot screw on this bike you need to bore out the metal cover to get to it, because of this I made a little rubber cover for it after so I with not get debris in the pilot screw tube/shroud. When I was taking off this cover I made to make adjustments I noticed there was a tiny bit gas that must have been leaking out of the pilot screw tube. Upon further thought and research I realized that I do not remember there being an o-ring on this screw (probably got stuck in the carb then it fell out later on without me noticing it). Would this possibly be the cause of my issue? I also accidentally got some carb cleaner on the diaphragm or rubber boot in the carb slider, it did not like that but seemed to be ok after and seat correctly.   3. Hi, so i just replaced the cylinder and piston on my 2003 KX125 and was just out riding to break it in. The bike ran perfect for like 20 minutes until i stopped and reved it to warm my hands, then it all of a sudden started sputtering and bog down until it died. I had it turned off for like 30 seconds and then started it again, it started right up but started to sputter and bog again until it died. Started it up again and rode it home, left it in the garage for 30 minutes then started it up and it ran perfect again. Kinda feels like a spark issue but i could be wrong, Any ideas?
  4. Hi, My DR-Z400E had a broken vacuum line and was idling low and lumpy and then would not come down from high revs if I blipped the throttle. I fixed the line and now this is how the bike starts with the idle back all the way out. Cables are set well, throttle wheel is in the shut position. Any ideas??? Thanks, Brett

I recently bought a ttr 125 that needed a lot of work, the float bowl in the carburetor was sticking so I tried to replace the jet on the float bowl but got the wrong size jet and go impatient so I tried to make it fit, long story short I needed a needed a new carb. I bought a new stock carb and now when I start it up it revs up super high and doesn’t stop, adjusting the fuel and air screws didn’t seem to do anything. Any suggestions?
