So, bought a stripped down bike (07 YZ250F) and the carby was already apart. (They lost interest apparently) can anyone tell me the part that is circled and what it’s for as it looks blocked off intentionally to me. it does not have a thread and pushes in and out. The parts breakdown I can find online don’t have this section apart so I’m thinking it’s been disassembled a bit too far? i bought a rebuild kit online for the specific bike I have and this part isn’t contained in the kit.

So I bought a WR400F cause Im a yamaha fanboy and I wanted something different from a DRZ like all my mates have. Everything seems fine except for the speedo not working (If anyone knows a digital one I can get please let me know), Until I accelerate...its only when I accelerate, its been getting worse I think. When ever I take it from half throttle or less to wide open (slow or fast) the bike almost stutters of coughs before finally getting the revs up then all of a sudden it's just peak power and goes like a lubed up rocket (Smooth). Even sometimes when Im dropping gears and I revmatch the bike will just cut out like its not getting enough air or not enough fuel? Happened a few times now, mainly when I blip the throttle quickly instead of a smooth flick. Anyone have answers on how to get that smooth action the entire way? oh and BTW (I know absolutely nothing about Bikes and carbys)

G'day everyone, I'm looking to identify a carb on a project bike I've recently acquired. I've searched high and low and I just need a confirmation on what this may be. It's off a DR400. It says 'Mikuni Made in Japan' on the body of the carb. This is a knowledgeable forum, I'm sure one of you will recognise it in a heartbeat. Regards, Jaymin

Hi TT, Has anyone had experience with the bigger CC kits before? Im installing a Athena 480CC big bore kit on my WR450 and im wondering if a jetting upgrade is required or if i can just tweak the air/fuel mixture? Any help is appreciated. Thanks Ben

LEAKING CARBY ISSUE Can anyone tell me what the issue is here ? I have fuel bubbling out of the hose pointed to in the picture when the motor is running it's a bit less, when it is stopped it is faster, it's pretty fast, it soaked the floor around the bike in a couple of minutes I have the Safari 17L tank fitted and an after market exhaust everything else is bog standard motor wise thanks in Advance. ..

I have an idle issue I just can't seem to solve after having the carby apart several times. I finally gave in and orders an O-ring set for the middle of the carby but am having an issue getting th body separated on account of the epoxy joining it together and I am worried I might crack of break something if I use too much force. I've removed the 4 screws. Does any have any tips for separating the halves on the carb body?

I have a friends 2012 TTR50 that was not running when brought to me. I have the carb as clean as new after extensive time in ultra sonic bath and have blown out all passages. I am unsure of correct float level but have set at 18.5mm which is from a manual of an earlier year with a different carb with similar bowl design. If I put fuel direct into cylinder via plug hole using a syringe it will start but still not draw fuel from the bowl and keep running. I am unsure of just how the enricher is supposed to work. There is a plunger on it that does not connect to anything so how does it function? If anyone can give me a link to further info on this carb it would be good as I downloaded a manual but that has earlier carb illustrated. As I am doing this work free of charge and have already paid to download one manual I am hoping someone can help. For a short time in my life I was a ticketed diesel mechanic but never great on petrol systems

Hi All, Based on a little research I'm of the opinion that the accelerator pump actuation should cause a fuel "squirt" out of the accelerator pump nozzle in the throat of the carby. (keihin FCR 39) My bike seems spray a "Mist" of fuel. It's more like a shot of aftershave than a squirt of fuel. I can't upload a video of this in action but I have put an image. You can just notice the mist/cloud in the left image as compared to the right. So, if it should be a "Squirt", I suspect there is a blockage in the passage to that nozzle and I'm sure you will tell me it will be easy to check and clean (Not) ? Lastly, I'm also of the opinion that a couple of blips of the throttle (accelerator pump actuation) aids in starting a motorcycle to give it something to ignite. My bike is hard to start and I suspect it's trying to start dry because she's not a squirter. Is that logical or event such a thing? Thoughts, comments and guesses welcome. Thanks in advance GunnyB

Gday, I have a 99 400 with an after market 450 replacement carb, one of those eBay ones, works great…. But will only rev up with choke on, with choke off it will idle but when you rev it it will back fire, and bog down, but I can’t find the size of the jets on the side of them or anywhere, what jets should I use? If it’s a jetting problem please let me know!

Hi TT'ers. First post and very new to pulling bikes apart. Thanks to everyone here for helping me learn from previous posts. New to me DRZ400e with FCR slant carby. Took the carby apart to get to know it, clean it up, and because the bike was stalling at the lights on the way back from my first ride and didn't start that easily. Got to know it, adjusted the float from 10mm to 9mm, put everything back in its place and wouldn't start. At some point along the way, an o-ring turned up on my bench that I didn't recognise. The one on the right is the one in question, it's 5.3mm diameter according to my calipers. Now, the only other o-ring that I can find in this carby that is shaped like that (tall, with a flat base) is the one on the left that is from the fuel pump, here (the smaller of the two in the following pic, measuring 6mm diameter), and I have that o-ring - it's not missing: Neither of these o-rings appear in the 2 All Balls kits I have since obtained, the Mid-body Gasket Kit (26-1513) and the "Carb Rebuild Kit" 26-1498. I had wondered if it may have somehow escaped from the mid-body, however, that is sealed with an industrial liquid gasket (a topic for another post) so I don't think it could have been blown out of there when pumping air through the carb, could it? So, my question is, do you think this 0-ring dropped onto my table from somewhere else or it's from this carb and I just can't see the origin? Thanks guys, Jack

2stroke Bike is running extremely weird
Almond posted a topic in Motorcycle Jetting & Fuel Injection
Okay so to start off i know for a fact that it is a carby issue. Basically i have a 1995 Kawasaki Kx100 2 stroke, and its never ever had a single issue for the time that i've owned it which is over a year. Recently with the weather becoming colder approaching winter in Australia, the bikes been really really un-happy. First i noticed that is wouldnt start like it used to so i was like no issues, probably just the colder weather, then while riding it i realized it would bog out at full throttle, like a blubwubwubwub kinda bog. After a bit of tinkering i cleaned out the carb and stuff and tried to tune it, i came accross a different issue, now basically when im riding and i get to like 4th gear, all the sudden the bike will rev out really high and ill loose all power. Then i upshift into 5th and it will be good for a second then rev out and i loose power again. Ive checked everywhere for air leaks and all that and i cant find any. is my air adjustment screw letting in too much air? and in the case of the bog at full throttle should i maybe go down a size on the main jet. Lastly theres another issue lol. when i start it it will idle for a second and then rev its guts out. Please help me, next step is to get a brand new carb i think.
