  1. I can't get my gas cap to come off! When trying to spin it off, it just kinda clicks like it isn't grasping or something. Not a fan of this new seemingly unnecessary gas cap design.
  2. New to the forum and looking at getting my first bike. I feel confident about the clutch aspect from riding racing four wheelers for several years. I’m torn between a Yz250x and a crf250f. I’ve ridden two strokes before so I kinda know what to expect from the power. I know that the Honda will be easier to maintain as a beginner but I worry that the power would eventually bore me. And I’m not able to buy a new bike within a year after I’ve “grown out of it”. I’m 5’10” and 180
  3. I’m 16, 180 lbs, and I’m 6’1 I’m looking for a trail bike that will get me thru the tight trails on the low rpm stuff then have enough power to get me that adrenaline rush on the straight aways, I’m not sure which Honda bike to choose from mainly looking for one of the 250’s but would be open to a 450 possibly.
  4. Hey guys, this is my first post but I've been browsing this topic for a while and I still cant come to a conclusion on what bike I should buy. I have little experience on a bike and 0 on a bike with a clutch. I've been driving manual cars for 10 years so I think I'd pick up on the clutch work pretty quickly. I'm 25 5'5 30 inch inseam 200lbs(hopefully less by the time riding season comes around) I'm only going to be riding trails, nothing technical mostly old logging roads and four wheeler trails. At first I thought the 250f would be the perfect bike for me but I'm having doubts. I'm worried the bike will be too heavy and underpowered for me after my initial few rides. I don't take it easy on anything I own, I like to push everything motorized to its limits and then some. The CRF150RB/Expert really caught my eye because of the size and power. I also like the suspension set up a lot better on the 150. I know the 150 is marketed as a kids bike but seems like a smaller 250R to me, and after some research it seems a lot of adults love this little bike. I'm just hoping my weight won't be too much for it. I'm looking at buying new since the 250f is only a year old and the 1 used on in my area is the same price as new. As for the 150 I don't want to buy a clapped out bike some 14 year old beat every weekend and have to do a rebuild before my first 5 hours of riding. The guys I'll be riding with having 450's and 125 2 strokes and I know neither of these bikes will be able to out run a 450 but I want something I can have some fun on and be able to keep up with them enough that they won't be stopping every 20 minutes waiting for me to catch up. I'd love to be able to fit on a 250RX but my little legs make that pretty difficult. Hopefully I can get some of your thoughts on what bike would be best for me.
  5. Hey guys I have a 2021 crf250f and it has a 100/100/18 on the rear. And I just ordered a 110/100/18 starcross 5 for it. My question is how is that gonna affect my power and so on?? I know people have tried it with success on the crf230f but has anyone tried it with the crf250f yet??? And I guess I should of asked this before I ordered it but I did. Also my main kind of riding is trail riding in NC, places like Brushy mountain and triple A if anyone is familiar with that area. Thanks for the help guys!! ??
  6. Ok so my buddy bought a 2007 crf250r off a guy that absolutely destroyed the motor so he put new cases and comeplete rebuild in the motor and he went to start it but got nothing but a backfire. So he gave the bike to me to look at and a took off the head and all the valves were bad so I replaced them all and lapsed them in and put new shims and timed the bike and hoping that did something I went to start and and got nothing. If anyone has any input please help it will be greatly appreciated.
  7. My brother snapped the shift shaft on his 2020 crf250f. I am assuming that the clutch has to come off to replace it... waiting on the shop manual to show up, but if anyone has one and can help us out, it would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy!
  8. Hi all, new to the forum. Let me start by saying that I've researched the heck out of this topic with no luck. Went to my local dealer but the sales guy was not at all helpful in answering any of my questions. So, if there is already a thread out there on this topic please point me to it. I realize that these two bikes are totally different animals. The WR250 inspired by it's race proven MX counterpart whereas the CRF250F is essentially a replacement for the CRF230F. I do not race or have any intention to do so. I really only ride on ATV trails with my friends and occasionally ride down fire roads. I'm in my twenties but don't ride that aggressively. I am not an expert rider but I am not a beginner. I started on a KX100, then went up to a TTR230. I got bored with that and bought a YZ250F. Not the best decision I've made. Partly my fault for not doing the research before getting it. The maintenance was a nightmare on it. I changed the oil religiously, air filter, kept a logbook with everything done to it and it still blew up once it hit 27 hours which seems really low but I don't know. Maybe I just had a bad one. I loved the reliability of my TTR230 and the YZ250F did not even come close. Now, for a disclaimer I did buy the bike used. It has 23 hours on it. Did the previous owner ride it hard and sell me a ticking time bomb? Yea, maybe. Upon researching the issue though after my bike blew up, I found it to be pretty common with the 250 four strokes to need lots and lots and lots of maintenance and even then, they can sill blow up or need top end rebuilds. Coming from my bullet proof 230, I was not a happy camper. But again, I should've done the research and known what I was getting into. So, in the search for my next bike. Reliability and longevity are huge for me. I absolutely love the new WR250F but don't want a repeat of my YZ250F. I know that the WR has a new engine plus it has some different parts compared to the MX version. But will it still have the same issues I experienced on my YZ250F? Besides my concerns with reliability and longevity, I love it. The WR250F looks like it will have plenty of power for what I want to do and do it comfortably thanks to it's really nice suspension. The only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on it is my fear of it's longevity. I want the reliability of my TTR230 (or close to it) but the power of my YZ250F. Will the WR250F fill this goal? As for the Honda, I like that the CRF250F will behave similar to my TTR in terms of low end torque. I loved how torquey that bike was in the low end. It pulled like a tractor. My concern with the CRF250F is the suspension mainly. I am also a little concerned that the CRF will feel slow and underpowered coming from my YZ250F. Even though it's a 250, it is still air cooled, which means the motor is a tank and will run for a very long time with little maintenance just like my TTR, but after riding my YZ250F, I am a little worried I won't be happy with the power. Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I have been without a bike since my YZ250F broke on me and am eager to get back to riding.
