  1. Hey guys! Im gonna start out with posting all the information i think is needed for you guys to help me with this problem! Stock engine 2007 crf250r. Valve clearances are good and have JUST been shimmed with a double and triple check. Jetting is 175 main, stock needle position, 45 pilot and 50 leak jet. 1000ft above sea level. Im still having a terrible time starting and it used to be a 1 kick bike. I haven't changed my kick routine at all. 3 slow kicks, 3 throttle twist and then kick. Will sometimes start if i give it some gas when kicking. And then it starts 1-4 kicks after its warm. Im lost and dont know what else to look for. Thanks!
  2. Has anyone changed a set of CRF 450r forks for an earlier or later model?? I've bent my 2007 forks and cant find the same year second hand. Will anything be different like where the triple clamp holds and axle ect. Cheers.

Hey my buddy has a honda crf450r and started making noises recently, or a while ago, we thought nothing of it, thought maybe the chain or something, the bikes always coming up with problems, but they got louder, and so he stopped riding it and is gonna look into it. Does anyone have any ideas what it is? To be specific, it sounds like a clanking that sounds like if your chain is loose, but in the top end like where the cams or piston is. Any idea?
  4. Anyone switch from a 450 to a 2017 or newer TC250 or 250SX? I have a 08 CRF450 I like a lot but since the new Husky/KTM redesign in 2017 I have been thinking of making the switch back to 2 strokes. I am 37 with 2 kids and mainly ride at practice tracks and maybe one race a year...so I dont ride competitive but love ripping on tracks. So I was looking for some feedback/input from anyone who rode a new Husky/KTM.
  5. Let me start off saying I LOVE my 08 CRF450. It performs close to flawless...is in like new condition...zero complaints. So no real reason to replace it. With all the updates to the new Husky TC250 and KTM 250SX I am considering making the switch back to 2strokes. Just trying to gauge if I am just hyping myself up a bit over the new 2strokes or if it is worth considerong selling the 450 and picking up a new TC250. I mainly just ride on practice tracks for fun. I dont race serious and may run 1-2 per year. Just want to get some thoughts or if anyone already switched to a new 2stroke. I know it's a bit easy to hype yourself up when you want something.

  7. I am going to replace the fork seals on some 05' CRF 450R forks and have 2 different viscosity oils. Since the damper assembly takes X amount of fluid and the fork tubes take X amount of fluid, one quart won't be enough. Since I have heard or observed the oil in the fork tubes is simply for lubrication and not alot more, would it be safe to run the 7w in the fork tubes and the 5w in the damper? Or should I run 7w in the damper and 5w in the tubes, I know manual calls for 5w HP which appears to be 17 @ 40 so the 5w Bel Ray is about spot on. I am not launching off any major sweet jumps like Pedro and Napoleon(more than likely little stuff, maybe some smaller doubles but mostly trail riding) Also some supermoto stuff running another set of wheels and street tires. I am about 150 and have been known to hit 160lbs when I really let myself go. I have 2 sealed quarts of oil. Bel Ray high performance fork oil, 5w(17.1 @ 40) - 1 quart of this. Bel Ray high performance fork oil, 7w(29 @ 40) - 1 quart of this I also have 2 sealed quarts of 15w Bel-Ray, but its older than 5 years and will have to be tossed out more than likely. I know I could also run some 0-20w motor oil in the outer fork tubes if I wanted to. Was more curious of any advantages or disadvantages on where I should put the 7w, I am thinking with my riding style, surfaces and weight probably the 5w in the damper is what I should run and the 7w in the fork tubes. Thanks!
  8. I am looking at 2009 Honda CRF450R , clean bike, seems to be well maintained. Only thing that is bothering me is that these bikes seem to have some problems, fuel mapping, decompression pin, If someone could provide insight on their experiences with these bikes please? There is also a 2014 yamaha for sale at the same dealership and from the research I have done on them they are good bikes, but this one was definitely used, plastics have some scrapes, stock exhaust has some dents, but it has all the mods someone who at least knew what they where doing, better sprockets and handle bars and levers
  9. Back in Early October 2021 I started calling California, Nevada and Arizona dealerships to track down who was getting the 2021 CRF450RWE. Pretty much all of them told me that they didn’t have one for sure coming that they could guarantee me, but they usually get one. A closer dealership I had called said they were for sure getting two, already confirmed by Honda and one was already taken. So I ran down and placed a deposit and signed their little contract to purchase the bike. Around late November they called me to say the bike would be arriving sometime the first week of December, if not then for sure the second week of December. Around 12/17/2020 I called and asked if it came in. They said that it had not, Honda confirmed the ship date would now be 12/21/2020. And to expect the bike the first week of January. I gave them a call around 01/10/2021 for an update, they told me no dice on the bike, should come in at the end of the month. Hit them up on 01/29 and they told me they were receiving the bike on 01/30. I asked if it was being shipped on that day or they were actually receiving it. He wasn’t sure. But they never called back. What’s getting me angry about this is that originally I didn’t really care when it came, I have other bikes to ride. But they kept giving me these bs updates which got me excited and anxious and I still don’t know what’s up. I am to the point now where I kind of want to get my money back and buy something else from their rival dealership. And to add as a FU to them, I am buying a 1000 turbo UTV and trailer in late March and was considering them, but not now. My kids also ride, so I would be axing them out of their new bikes when they outgrow what they have. Maybe I am just being vindictive and in reality I am dealing with morons in the sales department. Is anyone else getting the runaround and still waiting?
  10. So, I have what I believe is an 07 bottom end in an 08 bike (no gearshift sensor in the left case). The left case is trashed because of a chain break. The plan is to buy an 08 left side case and mate it to the 07 right side case. Will they fit correctly? (Also have the 08 trans and top end.)

    I’ve broken my chain guide tabs 3 times now and are far beyond repairable. Bought a used on on eBay for $100 and decided to make it bulletproof. made with 6061 and welded with 5356 filler. Bamm.

My 2002 crf450r exhaust gets crazy hot off start it wasn’t like that when I got it and the head has like a mix of oil and gas in it not sure if that’s normal and I ordered new valves for it because I tested my intake and they where leaky so I just ordered a new kit for all of them anything helps at this point thanks.

  14. I bought an 04 crf250r, it has a wheel from a 98 cr125-250, according to casting numbers. As far as I can tell the hub is a match other than the wheel bearings are a 20mm bore vs the bike is a 25mm. But the outer diameter is the same. My question is if I put the bearings and seals and spacers for the bike in this wheel/hub is it going to work out? It was on the bike and everything lines up, disc, sprocket, I just happened to notice the axle was looking off and discovered that it had the wrong wheel, and axle in it. Just glad I hadn't rode it yet. Anybody every run across this situation before?
  15. Alright, so is looking like I'll be getting into a 2019 450L here soon. It will be a dedicated supermoto/street bike. I have a set of 17in Warp9 wheel i can get for a good price. They came off of a 2005 CRF450X. I called warp9 and the said the front will fit with no issue, but I'll need to replace the hub on the rear. Any of you guys have any input on converting to supermoto? Also plan on getting the Yoshi RS-4 full system and a programmer. Seeing Vortex and the go to. What would be the recommendation for that? More power the better
  16. I just ordered a Rekluse Radius CX for my brand new 2018 Honda CRF450R and installed the clutch system into my bike exactly how the install manual instructed to do so. I followed all torque specs, plate sequences, springs, soaked plates and EXP disc in oil, set free play gain and gap to exact specs, put fresh MA approved oil in the motor, and even followed the exact break in procedures of revs, 1st gear starts and second gear starts. At the end of the break in procedure a serious issue occurred with overheating/boiling so I pushed it back to my garage Before I installed the rekluse, my bike has been running perfectly as I only have about 5 hours total on the bike. My motor is not modified, it is stock. I have worked on all my motocross bikes myself and never had a problem of this nature and I have done several clutches on my various bikes throughout the years I decided to check the clutch as this was my first assumption to the cause of this problem since it was the last modification I did and what I found is insane! Attached are photos of the entire Radius CX completely fried to a crisp. Even my stock clutch basket is burnt and notched from this failure of the radius CX. In addition to every single part of the radius CX failure, my shaft on the clutch side is also blued. The clutch basket is burnt & notched (even through the metal slot sleeves notching occured), the thrust washer is scored, the clutch disks and metal plates are scorched, the rod that inserts into the shaft is scored on both ends, the rekluse clutch cover oil feed is chipped, and even the case bearing on the clutch side of the shaft more than likely requires replacement which would mean my entire brand new motor needs to be taken apart and rebuilt. The crank end on the clutch side being blued requires the crank to be fully replaced. This is a brand spanking new bike with a serious issue due to malfunction of this clutch system. I used proper MA approved Honda oil in the bike so the oil is not a culprit in this. Anyone have any insight on what the hell happened? I am seriously regretting purchasing this clutch at this point! I have an email outlining this dilemma to rekluse support as well...waiting on an answer
  17. 2015 CRF 450R. 70~ hours did a top end and now it wont idle. After installing the top end and riding bike it wont idle once hot. I can set the idle cold to about where i want it but once i give it gas and its warm it either idles at 3k rpm or dies. WHen i say dies as soon as the throttle is not open the bike goes->0. Even when its cold and you give it throttle it almost hangs at 3k then settles to 2k but once fully warmed it dies. I have cleaned everything in addition to the steps below. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as im without a bike and losing hair over this. It seems electrical as i didnt notice that much of a power loss I have tried: remapped it all sorts of different ways, swapped throttle body from buddys bike that runs(TPS, injector, idle sensor, idle adjuster), checked all sensor and cleaned them, put buddys fuel tank on ( filter, pump etc), gas is not old, checked timing chain alignment( although the factory lines on the cam shaft are not perfect i believe with 98% certainty the cam is aligned properly) , air filters clean, no tlow on anti freeze, IAC sensor changed, sorry if this is in the wrong section, just trying to get some help
  18. I just traded for a 2004 crf450r that has a bad crank. I am new to 4 strokes and their engines, so i am a bit scared to try to do this myself. If i were to send it to a dealership, about how much would that cost to get a crank replaced? And if i were to do it myself, would i need any specialty tools?
  19. Hello i am 16 and i am looking at a 2010 crf450r and i was just wondering if it would have too much power for me? Now i have quite a lot of riding experience riding dirt bikes (90,125,150,230,250) and i have a mate who has a crf250r and i have ridden that a couple of times and its not quite the power i am looking for so thats why i am wondering about the 450. Any help in much appreciated.

Hi I'm looking at buying a 2010 CRF450R and wonder how often it would need to be rebuilt and have work done on it, if I use it for trail riding, I know it has about 110 hours on the engine and was rebuilt at 75, as I said I am only looking at it for trail riding, as it is a good buy for the money, I know the oil should be done every 5 hours and filter about 10, I'm just wondering about the hours for top and bottom end rebuild if i only trail ride it. ?
  21. Hello, just got this bad boy couple months ago, last ride it died and won't start anymore, got no spark at all. So the stator is dead, the problem is that i can find a lot of stators for the crf R and X models but nothing for this bike because it's produced by HM for italy and it uses different stator. Anyone with any solution. Thanks in advance. 🙂
  22. Hey guys just a quick question. I recently gave my crf450 a facelift. I cant decide of I really like the new plastics. They look cool but not traditional style. I dont race so no need for number plates and sponsorship graphics. Im thinking about changing them back. Please let me know your thoughts? Honda red is old and bone collector is new
  23. I have an 08 crf450 only mod is fmf q4 exhaust and rekluse clutch. I've owned the bike for 4 yrs and have never had problem until recently. I have had to start cracking the throttle while kicking it no choke and it starts pretty easy, then thats when I have to turn the idle up till it warms up then back down and still then when it seems to be idling good a quick snap of the throttle and it hangs high. I've got stock jetting and have never had an issue. I have cleaned the carb 2 times with all new stock jets. I've tried setting the fuel/air screw with the idle and no happy medium. I'm thinking about going to a #45 pilot instead of #42 will that help? Valve Clearance are within spec. I've done a air leak test as well. Temperatures are fairly humid here. These problems just started so I'm wondering what i'm missing, hot start lever moves freely but it will stall motor while running as will the choke!
  24. So I recently bought a 2006 crf 450r. After working out a few initial quirks everything has seemed to work great. I took it out to Moab for the week and rode every day. Mainly did very technical trails that forced me to abuse the clutch. Today I went to take it out on the highway and the clutch was slipping (oh well I expected that after doing almost 500 miles in a week of clutch burning trails) I left on the last trail ride this morning and there was some high speed stuff. About 1 hour in the bike decided it wouldn’t shift into 2nd. After that point to get out I had to shift it into second with my hand and it takes a decent amount of force to get it to go. I also noticed that 2 times shifting from 4th to 5th pinned it dropped 5th for about a second acting like nuetral and then kicked back into 4th. I changed the tranny fluid before the trip so I’m gonna drain it tomorrow and check for shavings. Any input would be appreciated.
