  1. Hi folks, I'm new to TT. Seeking some help with an old pit bike (shown in pics). I didn't do the mods on this but saw some value and bought it cheap. It hasn't ran since shortly after I got it a couple years ago. When it did run it was blowing blue smoke I assume burning oil.. probably why it was bought so cheap. It has a 124cc Takegawa kit and I'm not sure the brand of clutch kit installed so I'm hoping you guys notice. It doesn't have any oil right now and I'm wondering if dumping oil in the clutch cover treats the whole engine and clutch or if they're separated inside. I think some oil and fresh gas would get it running again but like I said it didn't seem very healthy when it did run. Does the blue smoke I used suggest the top end needs replaced? Are these parts still accessible if so? Lastly, the sprockets don't align well and the rear brake hardly works. It may just need fluid but are there any good swingarm/rear brake kits out there for decent price? I'd about prefer to remove the swingarm/wheel/brake and start new there. Carb is a Mikuni, PC exhaust, if wondering. I'm not sure what the forks are from but they and the front brake work. Thanks for any help. Would love to get it built right and repost!
  2. So, as fall approaches and winter is looming, I might be able to extract my sons crf50 from his grip... I have a couple maintenance and cosmetic items to do over the winter. Mainly, tires. The front tire is fine, but the rim is a little cockeyed. I picked up a true used one to swap in. The rear tire is pretty much bald. I didn't bother changing it this summer because he's 4 and just learning and I decided to let my lawn have 1 last summer before full on abuse. That being said, I bought the OEM tire because the Dunlop the dealer tried to sell me would have him shooting rooster tails all over and I'd have no lawn left. My question is just how difficult is it to change these tiny little tires? The previous owner told me it was impossible, but I'm not real confident I'd trust him anyway. The dealer says they are tricky and offered to change them for me for a fee. I have changed many car tires and bicycle tires in my experience and know what I'm doing, but are these little ones that much of a pain that I should just bring them in?
  3. Crf100 with a BBR 120 kit, web cam 68/69 cam, Keihin 24mm carb that I’ve been running it successfully for a few years now. It has been amazing. I made some recent upgrades. The main two that might lend some help answering the questions are lightened fly wheel and I port and polished the head. I have built many motors and this one was flawlessly put back together twice since the noise. There is zero valve tap, no bent valves, cam lobes are perfect, springs are perfect, timing is spot on, there’s a ton of compression, no dents in the top of piston from possible valve, and valves are lashed perfectly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  5. Hello friends, If you own a CRF50F or an XR50 dirt bike you know that they are prone to smacking the case while on the trail. I installed a Ricochet Off Road skid plate on our 2007 Honda CRF50F and I'm very impressed/happy with the product. Here is a video:
  6. Hello friends. I'm new here because I've been riding quads for the past decade. However, in this area (NE Arizona) everybody rides dirt bikes. So, I decided to swap to dirt bikes. I've got 4 young kids, so one week ago I found a pristine little 2007 CRF50F for sale in Flagstaff, and talked the original owner down from $1200 to $1000. I picked it up, and the dirt biking days have begun! I already picked up a Ricochet brand skid plate for it that I will be installing soon.

  8. This guy has a 2003 xr50 for 400$ pretty good deal, but the forks are throwing me off since they're usually a different yellowish brown color. Also in the frame next to the forks there's like a little circle, what's that? I don't see those on the 2003 xr50's. what do I look for when I go see it?

So I have a crf 50, I Was feeling the gears and now my rear tire is locked up and I seem to can't get it back to nutraul, All the gears seem to work fine I Can roll it when i hold down the gear shifter and it will only roll backwards free, Could anyone tell me what this could be maybe What I should do ?   11. I read somewhere the other day about putting a carb from a 70 on a 50 for a performance upgrade - did I read that right and is it legit? I'm guessing you'd have to tweak the intake a bit and then also use a pod style filter instead of the stock airbox? Also, if you don't have any other mods other than the carb, is it even worthwhile?

March 2016 I bought my first motorbike A CRF50 May 2016 I moved to a 2.5acre block and started creating jumps for my level of riding I really tried to make the most of the natural features that were hidden beneath the grass/weeds but I really just ended up adding to a worm line that we constantly rode and added lip to sections that we saw fit. Straight / last corner First Jump Sandy burm Exit burm, minor woops into second jump Second Jump followed by small burm Small lip into into uneven decent into the last burm/beginning Perhaps this is a good start for a youngster on his/her first bike I failed to mention that I was born in 1995. This track was fun to start with but it was not long until this simply wasn't enough I started to build this line which opposed the direction of the original track. But the idea was to jump this, hit the small burm and then go onto hit a big jump.. But I got distracted by what I accidentally created. A little dodgy I know, this is the creation of when you can no longer be bothered digging and use random items to fill the gaps. Imagining is a great thing to do and to visualize is even better ! I took photos of my jumps and drawn on them with my smart phone. Little did I know this was going to be the most crashed jump of my life (so far) This was the beginning of my laziest effort. Pallet down ramp. These are pretty great if done well. -Level the area for stable stacking of pallets -Use pallets to fill most of desired down ramp space. -Then put any type of thick wood on top (helps spread the load and not crack pallets) -Then carpet so soil doesn't fall through the cracks -Last add soil/clay and lots of it ! I learnt the hard way (not the greatest effort on the jump but it puts the size in perspective a little) This jump quickly became our favourite And the little track quickly got forgotten and over grown. My lust for a bigger and greater jump and had clouded my mind... And with bigger jumps you soon require a bigger bike and this is when I upgraded to the KLX110L 2016 My stupidness resulted in this creation It stood at about 6ft And shook in the breeze After the result of poor pallet down ramp I realised making these sketchy jumps is dangerous and requires a lot of maintenance. So I contacted a lot of earth moving companies. And tried finding companies that were working on clay sites. This was free for me and should be for you. Each load of dirt 15-20t costs roughly $450 to dump in some parts of Australia. So I offered free dumping within my yard, I get dirt for jumps and they save a lot of money, win win. My first load arrived, roughly 17t of dirt.... it sounds like a lot but it really is not. I got these big crate boxes from work and screwed a door across the top of them to help spread the load. The crates are only there to try and save anybody that is lacking the correct speed. Progress was slow, but I needed to move this first load up against the crates as much as possible to allow the track to back in closer to the pallets. When I cant be bothered digging or don't have the dirt. I like to visualize what it will be like in the end Finally destroyed the old ramp and created a new one with the most desired material. That's what 4 days afterwork of my digging looks like (4 hours a night), worth the giant blisters This is about 22-26ft jump which is a good/fun size I believe. This is currently where I am at but I do think my plans are pretty great This is the plan for the future Apologies for not numbering the above photo The yellow jump with the 16 beside it is my pallet jump which is jump #1 And the second large jump of 21ft is the orange one that follows and that is jump #2 From now I ask that you use your imagination and hopefully can figure out which ones are which in regards to the following images. This one is Jump # 3 Note the burm will not swing around the tree and go to the left. This will be a bit of a hip and send you into a right hand turn quickly followed by a left as shown on the birds eye view. #4 is going to be a pretty hectic step down that I am already scared of the idea ! #5 is going to be a 25ft hip #6 is going to be roughly a 20ft triple (rollable) #7 will be a 17-18ft tabletop #8 and #9 need to swap as I think double-table-double would flow a lot nicer rhythm wise.... #11 a good sized triple roughly 18ft Into a hopefully very vertical burm Then into a +20ft hip to finish it off through the trees Hope you've enjoyed this read so far. I will keep you updated with the progression of the rest of the track. Please feel free to give me tips (other than spelling) in regards to the track and ideas. Cheers Jackson
  13. Hi. I’m having an issue with my 2017 CRF50. I got the bike and a 2017 can am ds70 for 700. When I got the crf it has bad gas, so I drained it. Put new gas in and drained the bowl. It started right up and has no issues idles perfect and revs just fine. One day I just have a feeling the carb is gummed up, I open it up and it’s spotless in there to my surprise. So I throw it back onto the bike and it has a stupid high idle. No the slide isn’t in back wards. I’ve check multiple times. Every bolt is tight, the clamp from the air box and the 2, 8mm bolts that hold the carb are tight as well. I just can’t seem to find the reason it’s idle is so high. The idle screw it turned almost all the way out. The only thing I can think of is a air leak. One thing that has me thinking is the manifold gasket (gasket in between carb and intake) I see there is a rubber o ring and and I don’t know what way the gasket faces. I’ve tried both ways and it still has a high idle. What I’ve noticed is has a lower idle with the choke on. And with half choke it revs up as in I was holding the throttle half way. No the throttle cable isn’t pinched or tight. I just can find out why it idles so high. Please help.
  14. So this is my very first post on here so don’t hate me if this is the wrong section or website lol. I ride a 2015 kx450f. Tons of fun. Looking to build a pit bike for something to mess around on. Thinking of buying a crf50 frame and throwing a 125cc engine inside of it. Any tips on engines and what works with those crf frames? Completely building from ground up so anything helps. Thanks!

  16. I went with a friend of mine to look at and ultimately purchase a used 2007 CRF50 last week. While originally checking it out, I noticed that the idle would hang a bit after letting off the throttle (basically after the throttle is open and then closed, the engine will stay at a high RPM and not settle back down to normal idle for different amounts of times - sometimes just a few moments, other times up to 8-10 seconds), I figured it would be something minor like the throttle cable or gummed up carb, so I told him it was good and he bought it. I took it to my house to go over it and see if I could figure the issue out, but have been unsuccessful. I changed the oil, spark plug and filter (the filter and interior of the air box were pretty sopping wet with oil when I first opened it up). I also took the carb apart and rebuilt it fully with an all balls kit. None of this changed the mannerisms that I described above. I checked the cable and it seems fine, I also could actually see the slide opening and closing with the throttle tube in the carb. I've been told that this issue might be due to an air leak after the carb. I sprayed carb cleaner all over the intake in an attempt to find a leak, but I wasn't sure if I did. There were a few times that I sprayed and the idle hopped up, other times it didn't. I did set the fuel/air screw and idle screw at the factory setting after the rebuild as well. I feel bad because I went to look at the bike with my buddy and told him it was good, and now I can't get it straightened out for him. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. I can give a better description or put a video up of it if that would help. Thanks!

I have this 2004 crf50 has new oil has gas took off the carb twice did some adjusting/cleaning I just put on a on & off switch it sounded really close to starting but wouldn't could someone please tell me why is it maybe wiring or etc here are some pics please and thankyou. please and thank you!!

  21. I just bought a 2004 crf50, since I'm new at buying a motorbike I didn't really know what to look for. I got it for $500. It turns on with one kick of the kickstand but here's the problem I think, the throttle is sort of loose..idk if it's suppose to be like that? I grab the cable and pull back and the play sort of goes away so what might it be?

  24. Hello friends, Seeing as how school was about to begin, I took my boys on a 16-mile exploration ride through the country. Along the way we found a neat levee, and the boys rode across it on their little Honda dirt bikes (CRF50F and CRF70F). These little bikes are awesome. Dirt bikes are a great way to spend time together, in my opinion.
  25. I got my son an 08 CRF50 for Christmas a few years ago, he is now able to ride it like a champ. But, he cannot shift. I have to throw it in 3rd for him to ride around on. He is wanting to get into MX, so is there any way I can change the clutch/transmission to an automatic like the Cobra SR or JR or PW50 so he doesn't have to worry about trying to get his foot under the shiftier to change gears? Or does he need a whole new bike. Thanks in advanced!
