  1. 1995 cr250, had cylinder bored and sleeved with la sleeve. Sleeve not installed right and ports on cylinder do not match sleeve ports turned about 1/8 from being lined up. Can it be fixed or is it permanent? Please give useful advise, much appreciated.
  2. So I have an 07 cr 125 fouling plugs before the bike even has a chance to warm up, plugs come out wet and oily on the tip. had both crank seals replaced last season because my main drive side seal blew. While it was split I had a new crank put in, we noticed my cylinder plating was pooched so I sent my cylinder off to be re-plated, put a new piston in the shiny new looking cylinder put the old warped head back on and called it a day. then rode it all season having absolutely no idea about the warped head because I overlooked it when I was excited to put my bike back together and ride. Its now winter, snows on the ground. I recently went to go for a put and fouled a plug before I could get to the end of the street and back. I was also smelling coolant so checked the rad while running the bike, lots of movement and tiny bubbes. Pulled the head off and sure enough it was warped to the point where I could rock it back amd fourth on the mirror and see a small gap... so NOW after I replaced the head my problems persisted and I can still see little bubbles swirling around vigorously in the rad if I rev it with the cap off, I've had boiled it down to my cylinder probably being warped then I found a leaky hose by the exhaust that was dripping coolant onto the outside of the exhaust port. Which brings me to what I think may be an incredibly stupid question, could it just be the loose hose sucking in air that is causing my rad fluid to have small bubbles in it? And maybe im just experiencing increadibly rich jetting now that my head is actually sealed properly? over and out.
  3. Hello all! Long time lurker here, great site! Long story short, I pick up a bike with low compression for a little project. I notice "FMF" on the side of the cylinder ask him if he knows anything about it? He replies "the guy I got it from said it was an FMF race bike, but I don't think so. Figured someone just carved that in the side." I have never had my other yz250 apart, looking at the ports and comparing them to the few pictures I have found, it does not seem the cylinder was ported. Admittedly, I very inexperienced when it comes to any 2 stroke porting. Stock rebuilds is how I have always rolled. Also, I noticed the "c12 only" but the head only looks lightly milled, if at all. Any expert eyes out that have some input? I am trying to keep this rebuild reasonable since the holidays are around the corner. There is a gouge in the cylinder from the ring breaking. Last time i sent a cylinder off for repair it was 350ish. If it is a stock cylinder I may try to find a used one in good shape a little cheaper. Any help or suggestions would be great appreciated!
  4. Hi everyone, My yz125 has 22 hours on the current top end and 77 hours on the cylinder and I took off the pipe to fix my radiator hose and figured I might as well take a look into the exhaust port. I run a double ring forged piston from wössner and it still has the machining marks that hold the oil and it still has the black coating so it looks very good as far as I can tell. It doesn’t show any hotstreaks is what I’m trying to say 😅. The bike has good compression as far as I can tell by pushing the Kickstarter down, it starts first kick and runs strong 💪. I did however notice that there are black horizontal marks on the cylinder wall above the intake port. I attached a pictures so you guys be the judge, is this concerning or nothing to worry about? Thanks!
  5. I have a sikk-MX trail bike. And tried to extract a snapped bolt....snapped the easy out inside the bolt casing/shell(I drilled a hole through said stick bolt). I cant figure out which 52.4mm cylinder head to replace it with. Does anyone know? I also cant figure out the headlight wiring to my tusk headlight...if anyone has any schematics for that...please help. And does anyone know what larger/largest size tire or rim will fit on these bikes? Cuz these tires are pathetic.
  6. Greets to all. I'm about to install an Athena BB kit on my S. Kit comes with a single layer base gasket an gives 12.3:1 compression ratio. I've been thinking about bumping up the compression a bit. No budget available for a hi-comp piston, so I was thinking of machining the cylinder face down a couple of tenths of a millimeter. I have access to machinery needed for the task, so cost is out of the question. Will check piston-to-deck height and all before proceeding. My main concern is the nikasil coating, actually the point it "finishes" at the top of the bore. There's a chamfer right there, measures over half a mm high, so could easily be ok. But I need confirmation, wouldn't want to ruin my BB. Anyone done that before? Any problems with it? Thanks in advance. Lefteris.
  7. I have a 99 kx 250 that needs a cylinder. I need to know if a 94 kx 250 cylinder is compatible with the 99 model assuming I use the 94 power valves? the bidding ends in a few hours
  8. How can i fix this? Why is this happening when everything else if fine? Took it to a machine shop guy said 100 in labor to do sleeve and he said he didnt know if they made sleeves but they do. Im considering on buying a brandnew cylinder but lots of money didnt know if cylinder could be fixed or this will happen again. Heres the piston, then top of jug has chips taken out 30-50 thousandths
  9. I got a question. I own a 2016 KX 85. It ran amazing after it first bought it used. I was riding one day with a bogging issue and about 35 minutes of riding I shut it off to take a break. Came back 20 minutes later and it would not start.I changed the spark plug, cleaned out the carb, checked the reeds, and tried hill starting it but nothing .When ever I try to hill start it I can hear it trying to crank and It starts for like half a second but then dies. There is spark coming from the plug though.I took the cylinder off and the piston and cylinder are &%$#@!ed.The piston rings were stuck in the grooves and I had to use pliers and a screwdriver to get it out. There was a ton of blow-by and the cylinder was scored.I bought a new piston already but how can I fix my cylinder.Im thinking of getting it repaired and replayed by either millennium,PowerSeal USA, or usnicom. This is my first time owning a 2 stroke.Any answers or tips.
  10. So I have a 2001 rm125 with a sleeved cylinder. I’m interested in replacing my ring because the compression isn’t that great. The cylinder appears to be 54mm in diameter and the piston is 53.96mm. My question is: How do I know what ring to get and what should I gap it to given that sleeved cylinders don’t expand as much as the stock cylinder? BTW the current ring gap is 0.023”
  11. This is for my 2001 rm125. There are some visible damage areas, and I would rather not fix them if they really don’t need to be fixed. There’s a tiny amount of chipping near the exhaust bridge and scorching in a couple areas. I honed this unfortunately, because the guy I bought the bike from said it was a sleeved cylinder and upon further inspection I believe it is stock or plated.
  12. Will a stock 1992 125cc 54mm kx125 bore cylinder, fit a 1995 kx125? PLEASE HELP
  13. HI. So i am in the process of putting new studs on the cylinder in my 2001 CR80r! I am just wondering if i need to torque the studs if so what is the torque spec?
  14. I just bought an old 85 suzuki lt185. It runs but is in desperate need of a top end rebuild and I thought it would be a great project to do with my kids. Unfortunately I'm having a hard time finding part for that particular model and was wondering if there was any alternative cylinders, heads, pistons, etc that would bolt up and function properly that would be easier to find?
  15. Hi all, A couple weeks ago I picked up a 2004 CRF150F. It would run but only when bump started. I bought it knowing it needed a rebuild. It’s in decent shape but only had about 80psi of compression. I could hear air escaping into the case so figure it’s time for a new piston and rings. When I disassembled the engine the piston was loose in the cylinder(can see light passing by it) and the rings were very loose(holy end gap Batman). The valves looked pretty good but I’ll probably put new seals in, maybe lap them after I really look at it. My biggest question is whether or not the cylinder looks like it can be reused without boring it. I’ve included a picture showing the grooves near the top of the cylinder. I’ve heard it called ring ridge from where the piston slows down at top dead center causing more friction. I would take it to a shop and have them check it but with the Coronavirus floating around it’s not much of an option right now. I’d appreciate any help you guys can offer.
  16. Guys I have a bad piston & cylinder on my 2006 KX450f and I'm having a hard time finding a 06-07 cylinder for it. I found a 09 cylinder but the part# is different although they look the same in pics. Does anyone on here know if I can run the 09 cylinder on my 06?
  17. The kit is a lot more affordable for what you get compared to the bbr when you take in the specs on the bbr cam compared to stock IMO. with that being said has anyone ever bored out their 120cc big bore cylinder to say 136cc? Or what’s the safe limit you can take one to? I have full range use to a machine shop and have no problem doing it myself.
  18. Bike was running extremely rough (similar to running very lean, lots of backfiring and very loud) when I started it, and billowing white smoke. The oil also smelled of gas, which may be a result of flooding it trying to get it started so many times prior but it could be rings as well. In case it was the coolant causing that white smoke I figured I'd change the headgasket since I needed a project during all this quarantine business, and I found some scoring on the exhaust side of my cylinder (pictured). I can just barely feel the largest score with my finger, the others are smooth to the touch. I included a picture of my piston as well. Should I do anything about this? I don't want to mess up my cylinder if it was just a problem with my carb, etc.
  19. Hi All, I just bought a beautiful 2002 KX125 but it's missing the cylinder. I can't find one anywhere! The parts fiche shows no compatible parts other than 2002. Anyone have ideas? Can I get a 99-2002 cylinder and just make sure I get the piston for it too? They seem to be different sizes. Also, if anyone has a used one, please hit me up! mark.andresen@gmail.com
  20. I got a question. I own a 2016 KX 85. It ran amazing after it first bought it used. I was riding one day with a bogging issue and about 35 minutes of riding I shut it off to take a break. 21. Hi, I am doing the top end on my ‘19 Yz125x. The cylinder has the letter C at the back so do I put a C piston in it? I just ordered 2 C size pistons for the next two top ends. Will it be fine? Thanks!
  22. I bought a "2000" yz125 from someone. Shortly after purchasing the bike, I checked the vin and realized it is actually a 1999. Off to a good start. The previous owner told me he put a new top end in the bike and saw the clearance value of 0.002 inches on the wiseco piston box, so he thought that meant to bore the cylinder out the much... no big deal, its a pretty insignificant amount. I start the bike up and ride it around, but it has practically no power at all. It revs up fine on the stand, but it has absolutely no power when riding. So I started checking stuff. The power valve actuator arm moves when the revs go up, good. The valves themselves are new (he also replaced the entire assembly). The valves do no stick, and they move with the actuator, so I know that is working properly. Next I check the reeds, they are not damaged at all. Then I check the exhaust. It does not appear to be blocked anywhere, so thats out of the question. Then I do a compression test, and it comes out to 105 psi... found my problem. I'm just not sure why it has no compression with a new top end. The clearances between the cylinder and the piston look good, and the ring does not appear to be damaged (I have not take the jug off the bike yet). The cylinder walls looks bad though. There is no visible crosshatching, and there are weird patterns in the walls. The previous owner took the cylinder to a friend of his to remove that 0.002 inches, so I'm assuming he did not hone the cylinder properly. I'm kind of at a loss, and I don't want to replace the whole top end again. I am attaching pictures of the cylinder and a view of the piston and exhaust valves from the exhaust port. Does any of this look right? Also, he said that he lost the "top cap" when doing the top end. I assume that means the head because the motor mounts don't line up properly. He said he took a "top cap" from an rm125 or something that was laying around the shop, so I'm thinking that could be a possible culprit for the low compression. Any insight is helpful. Thanks.
  23. Hello everyone. So I'm stuck...I have done rebuilds before and never seen this...I'm by no means a pro. I did a piston and ring install, rockers, and it all went well. Line up TDC, put on head cover and go to check rockers for a little play...exhaust valve has it, intake doesn't...tried 9 times making sure it's even and same result. As soon as bolts get to about 5lbs or less...prob less the rocker won't budge. Is this normal...I should have free play if I'm at TDC on compression stroke...thanks
  24. Hi, I am replacing my piston and it’s bearings and rings and the top end gadgets. So a top end I guess 🙂. It’s a ktm 250 2stroke (2016) and it’s has 300 hours. The piston has been changed before but not by me so I don’t know if any work was done to the cylinder. Now the bike didn’t blow up and I can’t feel or it see any horizontal scratches so I am good in that department. But do I have to hone or deglaze my cylinder? I hear a lot of people saying not to touch it like less is more and other people say you have to deglaze them or get them honed? What should I do? Or use scotch bright to make more criss cross hatching for the rings to seat better I guess that’s deglazing as well. Or just keep running it as is since there are no scratches. Don’t know what to do. Any ideas? What do u guys do?
  25. I bought a 1985 KX125 for a $100. It’s in pieces but it’s all there. One thing I ran into is this cylinder. It’s scored on the inside. I think the top end blew up on this that’s why it’s apart. Wanna see what you guys think. Is it ok to where I can hone it out myself or should I send it out, I know a local place. My friend works on bikes a lot and he says it’s not too bad I could do either or. I’ve done a few cylinders so far so I know about the cross hatching and stuff. Spec size is 56.00mm
