  1. I have a 2017 650L... I ended up going with the DG "RST" slip on which I found that it does not fit my factory mid section and there is a ring that comes with it which a helpful member let me know it's purpose was for taking the spark arrestor completely out to run wide open (I haven't done that unless I need to??). I put a FMF Power Up Jet kit into it, used the aftermarket needle and spring positioning the clip on level 3 from the top, smog block off kit, and I "think" I have desnorkled it by using the rubber plug from the smog block off kit into the bottom of the factory air box that I put an aftermarket high flow UNI air filter with the cage in. The Jet kit, I used the bigger jet in the kit which I believe was a 165?? I may be mistaken as it's been a few months. Any how, I ended up changing it out to the larger one as it was running too lean and not getting adequate fuel... Currently, the power loss is terrible comparing it to my last 650L which was a 2006 model and it was twice the power of this one. Now... the license plate bracket is even melting from the pipe and rear fender in that area turning yellowish. The engine skips fairly consistently at this point and very noticeable when holding the throttle consistent at the same speed. It was getting hard to start, so I ended up pulling the spark plug and it was completely black!! Obviously this means it is running rich?? Thinking I need to go back to the 160 main jet?? Also I put in the Amsoil high flow foam air filter and geared down to 14 tooth in the front with the regular XR sprocket. I feel that I am in over my head so to speak with things that I have done and not knowing exactly where to start. The exhaust was DEFINITELY LEAKING at the mid section where the slip on connects. I am tempted to spend more money which I would rather not if possible on purchasing the TM-40 carb, and the full FMF powercore system. I used the exhaust high temp putty and also wrapped it with high temp exhaust wrap but very well could still be seeping out having a portion to do with the skipping. Any suggestion would be so very helpful and appreciated.

Considering getting a dyno jet power commander 5 for my 2020 ktm 500 exc.. love the reviews on the GET and Vortex, but I’m older and really don’t ride much anymore so it’s hard to justify the cost. Been strongly considering the power commander from Taco Moto and would love feedback either way from anyone who has tried it.
  3. I have a 2007 KLX250s that is completely stock. I couldn't find anything helpful online about a 2007 rejet, only 2009+ so I was hoping to get some input here. Dynojet doesn't make a kit for the 07 and I've read about a KLX300 kit but honestly I couldn't find a concrete answer. The only mod I plan on doing anytime soon is either replace the stock snorkel in the airbox with a KDX220 snorkel or completely remove it and the airbox lid, depending on what would make the most sense on an otherwise stock bike? Probably the latter. I live at 75ft above sea level if that helps with altitude jetting. I'd appreciate any and all info on what jets to get for that setup. cheers!
  4. The stage 2 kit calls for 150 main for stock exhaust and 155 main for a aftermarket. Has any one put the 155 in and left the stock exhaust with anticipation of replacing it in the not to distant future? Just trying to prevent myself from having to do a job twice for a stupid reason. Thanks
  5. I recently had my 450L dyno'd and a custom map installed, or at least they say they did... The main reason I wanted the custom map was to get rid of the horrible deceleration popping with the Yoshimura installed. I get on it after picking it up from the Dyno and it's still EXACTLY the same. I mean literally no difference what so ever. I paid $340 for the dynojet ecu and $325 for the "custom map install" so I was expecting some serious improvement. I personally think they are trying to scam me, although I guess decel popping may just be apart of having an aftermarket exhaust? What do you guys think? Any input would be greatly appreciated guys.
  6. Hello TT! First post on this forum, only because someone has already answered every single question I've had in the past year. Seriously you guys F'n rock! Very anxious for the snow to melt so I figured why not share my Dr with the world in the meantime. I wanted to pick up a thumper last August to have a dualsport to take to class and mess around trails when I was up at school. Nothing nice, just something dependable with mostly original hardware for under 2k (broke college kid budget) did my research, it had to be a Dr. So I trekked from southern NH up to Maine to look at a '99 Dr350se with 14K on the OD... I know 14K is a lot, but the pictures looked great. The guy selling it, who was only the 2nd owner, said it had just about no rust and he had only done 1000 mi on her in the 2 years he had it (which was actually true I have the title) The bike looked perfect when I got there other than that blowby on the tail. But for a '99 with high miles I figured she would at least need rings and gaskets soon. Wicked cool guy no BS, he never touched a thing on the bike besides battery and registration stickers, the thing just ran. He insisted I take it for a test ride before I even consider making an offer so took a little cruise up the dirt road and left my girlfriend to lay down a little pre-negotiation charm on him the wife. By the time I left wifey was bringing me to the shed to grab all the free spare tires and wheels the four of us could carry, and they were all in usable condition. Next hands me 3 soft binders, one was a general maintenance manual, one a model year specific manual, and one stacked full of documents, receipts, title and handwritten parts lists ended up taking everything home for $1200, $200 lower than the asking price just because he thought I was a good guy. (Total wheels and tires I got for free was a complete front and rear set each with 50/50 on/off tires mounted, as well as 2 rear on/off tires and 1 spare front mx tire) But wait there's more... Of course I'm dying to see what receipts are there so lets have a look... Everything with a receipt was dated from 2008-2013 (could be worse right?) we've got: Both sprockets (stock gearing) Chain Discs & pads Fork boots Front fork seals Clutch Clutch cable Now I start getting into the nitty gritty... no receipts or dates but after doing a little sleuthing: DynoJet stage 2 or 3 kit (found the 'in box' installation instructions, plus the jet sizes are scribbled down on that paper i mentioned) 1 1/2" exhaust mod (found email printouts so I go check the bike, sure enough 1 1/2") and for the Holy Grail... Yes that's right ALL of the emails back and forth regarding shipment for the 440 big bore and sleeve May I add, when that guy said no rust he wasn't joking. There's a flake or two on the exhaust but everywhere else is paint. Every nut bolt and connector on the Dr440 is completely stock, right down to the alien antenna mirrors. The bike obviously couldn't have been ridden that hard, I broke those mirrors off that first week... Airbox has the big ol holes of course. It has a K&N reusable air filter pretty sure that is not stock correct? It had motard tires when i first got it (in that pic by the river) but I am taking this spring to gear her a little more for more dirt. I just wrestled a brand new DOT track tire onto the main rim and I have that mx tire mounted on a spare rim sitting on deck. It'd be awesome to get some input from you guys, maybe do's and don'ts on modifications I can make from here? Also let me know what you think of my plans, I'm open to all (most) input. Right now my grocery list is as follows: -1 in the front (currently sits at 15/44) FMF pipe (what's the best option for Dr? is there a full FMF system for a '99 Dr or just slip ons?) DynoJet Stage 3 (if I don't have it already, how would I go about checking the jet size?) RaceTech rear shock spring ( 7.2 kg/mm or 7.6 kg/mm constant rate? suggestions?) POSSIBLY swap for RM fork or just revalve? (is it still worth doing rear and not front?) Thanks a bunch guys, I'm dying to hearing what you think
  7. Hi Ladies and gents. I sold my KTM 200 XCW a month ago and has been desperately looking for a neat Suzuki DRZ 400 super motard. I finally found one but it was 1350km away all the way in Vereeniging (on the other side of South Africa from Cape Town where I live). After thinking long and hard if I should take the chance, I decided to put some faith in humanity and do the EFT. I really wanted to get back on road and I couldn't think of anything more fun than an off road bike with 17inch sticky tyres as mountain passes was the type of riding that in the past really gave me buterflies and kept depression at bay. 10 years ago I was all about 300km/h superbikes, but having a bike that is not so intimidating makes riding much more fun, also keeps my butt out of jail. I organised Rothwinds Couriers, whose service was top notch! Best price and lowest turn around time as well. Landing two days earlier than what was promised! The bike was securely fastened on a very neat trailer and the guys that delivered it gave such a proffesional service. Great sense of humor as well. The day it was picked up. The Rothwind guys was sitting outside the sellers house at 5AM waiting for him to wake up
  8. Hi Hopefully i can get some help on getting my bikes jetting right. I have a 2012-2013 DRZ400SM. Mods are a Yoshimura RS3 full system, 3x3 mod, FCR39. When i bought the bike it had dual Yoshimura RS4 exhausts but i hated them so had my local bike mechanic switch to the spare RS3 system i had. He did the jetting which was a 165 main jet and a OBDXP Needle set on the third clip from the top. It ran alright but in third gear between 1/4 3/4 throttle at cruising speed 52-60km it had this sort of jerkiness like it wasn't getting enough fuel. I was told this was bog and getting a dynojet kit and putting the needle in would solve this. As per instructions i picked up the Dynojet 3111.001 stage 2 kit. Followed the instructions and put the clip 5 down on the needle and put it in. Bike wouldn't run right in second third or fourth gear at 2/3 throttle or under. Even bogged when trying to go pull the throttle and get up to speed. Replaced the mainjet with the one from the kit a DJ140 but that didn't much luck. Has that rough running at 2/3 throttle and lower and if i let off the throttle and get back on it would hesitate or act like it wasn't getting enough fuel sort of like when getting close to your reserve. I ride and live at under 500 meters with a average temperature in the 20-25c range. I'l be honest and say i haven't checked how many turns in or out the fuel screw is yet as i want to make sure my jetting is right then dial it as the screw is hard to access. Also the black tape over the hole in the first picture is where a black nub was that broke. Any idea what that part is? If any assistance can be given i would very much appreciate it. Edit the bike also idled fine with the setup i got it returned to me with a 165 main and obdxp needle. It ran fine at fourth and fifth gear.
