Hi guys. I have a 1985 rm250 that I recently just did a full engine rebuild on. I fired the bike up for the first time and it ran perfect for a few seconds and then shut off abruptly. I found that the ignition coil had a broken wire so I ordered a new one. After I put the new one on still no spark. It seems like I’m getting a good reading from the staitor and I haven’t found any grounded out wires. Is it possible that my CDI went out? Or could I have no spark because the new ignition coil is the wrong one?

Hey everyone, this is my first post on this forum, but I have been reading other topics for a while now. I'll give a brief description of my problem first; My speedometer and headlight began flashing and would stop doing so when the throttle was released, the footage I linked is not mine, but it is exactly the same problem I was having. To explain in more detail, I was on my ride home when I first noticed the headlight flickering, after watching it I noticed the speedo was doing the same. I got home and messed with the bike a little, and when I would open the throttle above a certain rev the speedo would begin to flicker like in the video attached. When I first encountered the issue it was day time and the speedo backlighting was not on, after I left the bike for an hour or two I came back to check the bike again, at this point it was night time and when I turned the key the speedo backlight did turn on. I tried to e start the bike and the starter wouldn't turn over, then the speedo turned off completely and only the neutral light was lit. I assumed this was due to a dead battery as I had read on a thumper talk topic (linked below) where this video was taken from that his battery was a dud and had to be replaced. At the time I thought this could have possibly been due to an overheated stator and the battery was drained from my ride home and a parastic drain from the wiring. After testing my battery I found it was 13.3 V and was basically fully charged. This makes me think the stator is not fried as the battery would have drained from riding if the stator wasnt charging the battery. I plan to go through the wiring harness and test all the electrical connections, see if there are connections or ground wires that have vibrated loose. As this will take some time, in the mean time I figured I'd see if anyone has any ideas on what the culprit could possibly be or where I should start to look to fix the problem. Any response is much appreciated, Cheers Original topic where I obtained the video:

Hey hows it going everyone, I'm new to the forum so please don't jump on me if I do something wrong but ... I have a 2004 CR125, the exhaust valves were stuck in one position, took it all apart and fixed that problem, but I took my servo unit apart and the gears are stripped from try to move the powervalve when it was stuck, question is can I use a servo unit off of a CR250 on my 125? 04 servo unit is hard to find due to 04 being the only year with an EPV. they look identical, some sites the parts numbers are the same for both and other sites the last number is different. it looks like you would be able to use a few parts for the rc valve setup from the 250 on the 125, I could be completely wrong though. did some research and couldn't find any answers, so here iam! any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm not a master mechanic but I do klnow my way around 2 strokes, been on them for about 14 years now.

hi all, i have searched the web quite a lot to find out if i can resolve my issue. I have a fairly old honda CRF250x 2006 that has done me wonders! just the other day, i stopped the bike to wait for a mate and then the issue presented itself.... what happens is that i tried to use the electric start...it turned and turned but did not start. i though to rather save the battery i gave it a kick start. When i tried to give it a kick, the kick start seems to have a jam/resistance by the starter motor or something, it did not go down freely and was difficult and slow to go down (made like a whining noise almost)- the bike turned over- there was compression etc. it eventually stopped doing this by me using the electric stat and the kick starter at the same time after about 5 minutes i have narrowed this down the an issue with the electrical start. but my mechanical knowledge of these things is not on form. I am just wondering what the issue is here? it is happening intermittently- i really don't want this to get me stranded somewhere from from the cars. could it just lie in the fact that the starter motor could be doing this? what other things could this be? any advice or help on this would be much appreciated!

Hello guys,so i have Suzuki RMZ 250 2008 year, the problem start 2 weeks ago, when i start the its getting hot fast, can't idle, and backfires,so i clean the carb, adjust few air jet,and problem was gone,i went to ride and the bike suddenly stop running, nothing works, kicking, pulling, nothing cant start this bike,so i found the problem was that it can't make spark on spark plug, and the problem its in electrical system,so my question is: can i get another electrical system from bike that is same year and to put it on mine?
