  1. I need to do the forks on: 2012 WR450F 2007 YZ250 Is there a trick to getting the compression damper piece out without that special fork cap tool? Heres what im talking about: 2012 WR450F 2007 YZ250 I rebuilt a pair of AOS forks with no special tools but I think the compression body came out with a 17mm socket. It was off a 2008 KLX450, I'm PRETTY sure top looked like this: Maybe someone can verify that 2008 KLX450R forks have that style of top cap. I cant remember and the bike is not in my possession atm. I dont like buying model specific tools so if there is a trick to getting those compression caps off let me know!
  2. Hey all, does anyone have a PDF service manual for a 95 or newer CR250. Doing fork seals and a few other maintenance items and would like to review the manual. I cannot find anything online regarding the forks on the 95 and older models. Not sure exactly how to bleed the inner fork cartridge. Thanks 🙂
  3. So i Recently got my first MX bike a KX250f. When we got it home i notice a puddle under the front left fork. So we took it into the local shop and they replaced the oil and only the oil seal. Got the fork back and put it on and started to ride. three or so days later i looked down and there is a small amount of oil on the chrome part of the fork. So i called the shop and they said that maybe the bushings were bad on the fork so they replaced the bushings and put another seal and new oil. Get it back and the SAME thing is STILL happening. I dont know what to do now so if you have any ideas let me know, thanks.
  4. I have a small leak in my fork seal and I’m wondering if it’s normal. I tried getting in there and making a seal saver to clean it out but I’m having a hard time taking the dust seal of while it’s on the bike and I don’t see how putting it on a bench will make it any easier. Should I try harder? Should I even worry? It’s so small you almost can’t notice it unless you wipe your finger on it and it gets a little slicker. I hope this makes sense. Thanks
  5. Hey Guys! I encountered a problem when working on my 04 ttr125. I was rebuilding the forks, and one of the oil seal clips (3v3-23156-00-00) was gone? possibly why the seal failed? and the other got severely bent when I removed it. Problem is I can't find the part and neither can my local yamaha dealer. Same part was also used on the dt50, ty50, and xt125. I managed to find 3 ebay listings but all were $20 per clip after shipping. anybody know where to get one, if a different part will work maybe? I also considered bending a new on with wire and heating it to harden it some. thanks!!!!
  6. Hello everyone!. i have a 1981 DR500 that I need to change the fork seals on and was wondering if anyone had any tips. i have tried to loosen the bold at the bottom of the forks but they both just spin without doing anything. i have been told you need to make a special tool that goes down the centre of the fork to be able to undo this properly but I haven’t been shown what exactly. any ideas tips or videos or photos anyone has would be great!. its been a project I’ve had for years in the shed and I’m looking to finally get it moving again. also before I had taken the forks off I had taken it for a ride and the back and wobbled about. the wheel doesn’t appear to be buckled or anything. could the spokes need tightening maybe? thanks again. jake.
  7. On my 91 Dr250s, the fork seal started leaking when I adjusted the clickers. They are new seals, and I rode the bike a few times and not a single drop of oil. The bike sat in my garage for a while, and I was reading the manual on my suspension adjustments. I noticed the bottom clickers where way off, so I stiffened the one that was looser to match them. Almost when I looked up, I noticed that on that side, the fork seal was leaking a lot of oil as the fork was compressed. It was dripping down the fork tube. Is there any reason this would happen?
  8. So I bought this bike and have been trying to get everything ready for the track, I weigh 190lbs, and need new fork seals. It’s SG3 suspension, and I’d like to do a tune up on it and dial it to my weight, but can’t seem to find an SG3 kit, and it be done with any 48mm seal kit? And what spring would I need to swap for my weight, suspension is new to me and I’d like to not completely ruin the SG3 forks, I also tried to adjust and the screw head snapped off of the compression side, could I just get another one the same at fastenal? any help is appreciated!
  9. Hey all. Recently have a order for some maxima suspension clean to clean my dirty shock up and was looking into cleaning fork seals as well. I want to clean the fork seals as it hasn't even been cleaned and my bike has been through a lot and I don't want the seals to go. From all the videos I saw on the topic I saw people using seal mates (or something of that kind) and sliding it up into there seals and cleaning it. However, I found one unique video of a guy popping his dust cover off, spraying some suspension clean all over his fork pipes then compressing his forks. After which the dirt on the seals were sitting on the fork pipes and he wiped them off with a rag. To me this seems like a pretty hassle free way of getting it mostly clean but before I go doing It can anybody confirm that this is a valid method of cleaning fork seals? I am I'm in no rush to clean them as my order isn't even here yet and I just would like to know that this is safe, as I'm not a fan of shot fork seals!🙃
