  1. I’m planning on doing a couple suspension mods on my 230 and I wanted some input before I took them on. My first mod is going to be a fork swap. My plan is to use 150R forks, Factory Connection fork springs, a custom triple clamp made by RSW Racing, XR250 steering stem, and 150RB wheels. I know there’s a few things I haven’t listed because I’m not sure of what else I would need. If you’ve done this before please let me know what else I need to complete the swap. My other mod is going to be the rear suspension. I’m planning on using a CR250 swingarm, Hagon shock, 150F linkage, and 150RB rear wheel. I’m wondering if this setup will work or if there’s anything I should change or add. I know there’s also a few things missing with the rear setup plan, like the bearings and axle, but again I’m not sure what to use for that. Any input on this would be great.
  2. hi guys is there a straight forword fork swap for 1997 xr600r eg cr-crf 250 any imput would be great thanks
  3. I rode in my first ever enduro/harescramble this past weekend in a 200 novice class, running against a lot of 125 two strokes. My bike is a 1996 XR200r with 07 cr85r forks, 21” front wheel with 12psi, .37kg factory connection springs, 5w racetech oil set 102mm from top, sag around 3”. I had a few problems, but one of the most annoying was front tire washout. Twice cornering and a few times on trail obstacles. It was reoccurring enough that I kept checking to see if the front tire had gone flat. What can be done to prevent this? Rider positioning, suspension setup, etc. The other problems resulted in a dnf when I lost my shifter to a stump and bent the gear selector shaft. But it was a lot of fun and I was surprised how well the bike did in the woods in comparison to the 125s
  4. Hi all, My name is Ben, I'm a long time lurker first time poster. First and foremost I would like to thank everyone that has documented their FI conversions and fork swaps. More specifically thank you msiddalingaiah and mxrob for the information and guidance over that last few weeks. Over the years I have owned a few bikes 1985 DR250, 1995 DR250se, '92 KX250, '06 CRF450, and a pumped up 92 FXRS. All of the bike are gone now with the exception of my 1985 DR250, 1995 DR250se, and a recently purchased '98 DR350. At the start of Covid I decided to restore the '95 DR250se. For lack of a better term its since turned into a restomod. First picture is myself with the bike in Rocky Point, MX (2006) The second is the bike in the spring of 2020 (after sitting under my dads Arizona pole barn since 2007) Third, currently as it sits, front and rear rebuilt suspension race tech valving, RM Showa 47mm twin chamber fork swap with heavier springs... And many other rebuilt or updated parts. Here is a link to another forum where I did a semi detailed write up on the fork swap https://forum.nanoefi.com/t/beta-dr350se-with-dr250se-cdi/363/5 Fourth and fifth 250 and 350 next to each other. I would like to build a bike that runs and rides well here in the rockies, down in moab, and extended trips on back country discovery routes. With the ultimate goal of riding the whole pan american highway. Here are my objectives for the build: DR350 topend, crank, balancer, kick starter, ect in the DR250se case 440 kit with a oil cooler and fan (if I can fit the fan) Use DR250se CDI Get a lighter battery than the brick thats in there Use the DR350 rear shock since it has the extra damper (put a RT valve in it). Better skid plate think Ill go with the Australian one from procycle JNS DOT led head light (already on its way) Fuel inject the bike using name brand parts so I can get replacement parts easier. Use MicroSquirt and tunerstudio. I've saved a number of pictures pertaining to the FI conversion. Since theres quite a few I'll be adding them in the next post. Cheers, Ben
  5. Hey everyone, I am looking to do a suspension swap on a 1989 cr125r. I would like to put some nice inverted forks from a newer cr on it, possibly a better rear shock as well. I guess I am wondering if there are any years that the triple clamp will bolt directly on or not. AllBalls racing has a nice conversion chart with links to the correct stem bearings. http://www.allballsracing.com/index.php/forkconversion I assume there will be changes in stem length. I have never done a front end conversion before so any guidance would be appreciated. thanks!
  6. I have 2003 yz250f forks that are beyond repair and have found a pair of 2002 yzf forks do you know if this will fit my bike . Or what other years will fit Thanks Dan
  7. I have a 2003 YZ 295 , and the stock forks are too harsh for trail riding. I have a complete 2001 CR 250 front end complete, everything, sitting in my shed that I bought for another project a couple years ago. I know it may be sacrilege, but its all paid for! Has anyone tried this? I'm a 61 yr. old woods rider with bad knees, and I don't need to "ultamatise" anything. Just want a front end that doesn't hammer me on every rock and tree root.!
  8. Hi all, so my forks have bitten the dust. Got a 2008 SM and my mechanic said he thinks they are RMZ forks? Would they be from a 250 or 450? How do you tell? What other forks fit the DRZ400? I do a fair bit of off roading so what would be best? I don’t want to have to replace triple clamps as well, more expense. He said they were 47mm . Any help or advice would be most appreciated as I’m feeling a little gutted and lost at sea.
  9. I'm contemplating a fork swap - the RM85 USD forks to an XR150 (Sold as Hero Implulse in India). I know there are multiple factors to consider and one answer I'm not finding is the length of the neck stem where the triple tree's center arm is inserted into the frame. I'm looking for the following information... 1. Length from top to bottom of the neck stem on the chassis/frame 2. Length between the top-plate and bottom-plate of the RM85 Triple Tree (where the bearings are flushed into the frame) 3. The tolerance the triple tree has to be moved around on the fork stem (considering the BW & SW triple tree positions are different) Cheers!
  10. I'm in a pinch because my 07 forks need new parts that are on back order for at least a month. Meanwhile there's a bunch of events within that time frame that I don't want to miss. I found a good deal on a set of 05 YZ race tech forks. Will they fit my 07 or what is needed to make them fit? Thanks
  11. I am in the middle of a fork swap, the bike is an 04 kdx 200 and new forks are off a 2006 kxf 250. To maintain the geometry i am lowering the kx forks 1"by installing spacers and will also add new spring perch grooves offset 1" from existing to prevent increasing pre-load. I am also replacing the existing .46 springs with new .42 springs.(single track, 39 year old, B/C rider). I have pulled apart the forks and this is the existing Compression(base) valve shim stack: 30x.10(12) 22x.15 30x.10 29x.10 28x.10 27x.10 26x.10 25x.10 24x.10 23x.10 22x.10 21x.10 21x.10 20x.10 19x.30 19x.30 19x.30 19x.30 22x.30 My plan is to remove 6 of the 30x.10 Lo-Speed shims from the Compression(base) valve shim stack. I will leave the rebound stack alone. But I defiantly open to suggestions or opinions. I am doing this to improve the handling of the bike but also as a chance to learn about suspension so feel free to lecture/rant/ridicule at will.
