  1. All, Just picked up a second hand 1998 Suzuki DS80 for my son. It was a mess and so I "restored" it to the best of my ability. I'm currently working on the carb and just finished installing a rebuild kit. My problem is that fuel leaks from the carb from a hole at the 6 o'clock position inside the air intake ring (see photo). I've set the fuel bowl float at 21.4mm and replaced both the seat and the needle for the float and it still starts leaking out the hole and through the airbox within about 10 seconds, I'm assuming as soon as the bowl fills up. I've also verified that the float itself floats in a cup of fuel - no leak. Could it be something else within the carb? Is that hole where the shot of fuel is supposed to come from when the throttle is turned? Thanks in advance for the help!
  2. Rookie dirt bike rider and just recently bought a 2012 KTM 250-XCW. It started leaking fuel when the gas was turned on. Rebuilt the carb... still same issue. The fuel is coming from the bottom of the bowl when the valve is turned on and the bike isn't running. Any help is appreciated!
  3. I noticed recently that i am having a fuel leak where my fuel line goes into the carburetor. It's the part where the fuel line attaches to a brass, I think, piece that is attached to the carburetor. I noticed it once recently then I thought it stopped. I recently removed my carburetor and thoroughly cleaned it. Put it back on and starts right up and runs like it should. However, it is leaking gas right at that point. See photo Also what is the screw to the right for. Is it possible to unscrew that and replace that part? All of the schematics of this carb (2005 WR250F, Keihn carburetor) do not give a description of what these parts do. Additionally, if this is the problem and it is not replaceable, is there a sealing agent to use around that joint/contact point to prevent it from leaking. Thanks, Bmillsie
  4. My 06 rmz 250 has a leaking fuel petcock. When i turn the fuel on, it starts leaking a lot. I dont know if it is leaking from where the petcock attaches to the tank or from behind the switch that turns fuel on or off because i saw 2 small philips screws that hold it on. What could be the problem?
  5. My 2001 rm125 petcock peaks fuel out of the face of the petcock. I tried fixing it by creating a metal spacer and outing that behind the gasket in the petcock to squish the gasket and seal better, but it made the leak worse. What can I do to fix this?
  6. Please read my whole description before responding, I've tried everything and am hoping someone has some input that I may have missed. I have an 05 yz125, had the bike for about 6 years, do all my own maintenance and work on it (and yes I'm knowledgeable and capable), have learned that every few years or so the o-ring on the needle valve in the carb will dry out and cause a gas leak, but the fuel just runs out the bowl overflow hose. Back at the end of March I noticed that gas had started leaking out of my reed cage. Did a little research and heard a lot of people complain that the V-Force cages do this. In the 6 years I've owned this bike I've never had an issue but thought maybe it had just worn out. Complained to Moto Tassinari and they sent me the new V-Force 4 reeds and cage. Put them in, still leaking. Used some RVT on it, thanking that would fix it. Two weeks ago went out for a long ride and realized my bike was puking gas out of the power valve breather hose, this has NEVER happened. And the reed cage was still leaking. Get home, tear the bike apart. Order new needle valve, put a leaner throttle needle in it, adjusted the float, resealed the reed cage with RVT again and hoped for the best. Went out last night and all was fine for about 2/3 rds of the ride. The leaner needle made it run crappy, but whatever, I can switch that back out. The problem came in the last few miles, coasted down hill for probably 2 miles, stopped to wait on friends and check out the situation. Gas was leaking out of the power valve hose again, not nearly as much as before, but still leaking. And the leak out of the reed cage was barely noticeable, more like a very tiny seep. Either way, not good. There is no leaking out of the bowl breather, so I don't think it's the float or anything else happening in the carb. It's like the gas isn't combusting properly and the excess is being puked out the power valve. Did a complete top and bottom end rebuild in February and rode it on some pretty lengthy rides in the desert before these issues started. Other than this, the bike runs great. I'm at my wits end. Luckily I'm picking up a YZ250 tonight so I can shove the 125 in the corner and not have to think about it for a bit, but I do love this bike and would like it fixed in the near future. Any suggestions?
