  1. Just a heads-up alert about all those manually operated petcocks on eBay and the web. Look for the only 1 or 2 out there with the outlet tube or nipple vertical downward and below it. All other 100 models on ebay have the outlet tube pointing right at the choke pull lever. This forces a tight turn which on some fuel hoses will shut the hose and reduce fuel by 80%. Also when removing and installing the tank the hose must first be removed, or its a struggle to get it past the choke pull knob. The knob could be damaged or rod bent. Attaching the hose on the petcock after the tank is in place is tough because of the sharp downward angle needed. Here are a couple of images. I tried 2 different hoses. The light color hose was a high pressure air-compressor hose, it went flat. The black hose is a 1/4" fuel injection hose and it did better. I ended up routing it in a circle forward then back to the carb. Im going to buy a new petcock with the downward tube next.
  2. I purchased a DRZ400S during the summer and had some fun riding it around the dirt planning on getting my license when I get back from college which brings me to the fact that I can't bring it with me or winter ride it. I will be winterizing it. I have done some research on here and elsewhere on the process and understand the basis. My only question is with the chance of faulty petcocks on these bikes (mine appears good as of now but wouldn't put it past it to go out in storage), is it ok to leave the fuel house off and wrapped in some electrical tape or something of the sort as well as the carburator's intake valve just to be safe?
  3. I noticed recently that i am having a fuel leak where my fuel line goes into the carburetor. It's the part where the fuel line attaches to a brass, I think, piece that is attached to the carburetor. I noticed it once recently then I thought it stopped. I recently removed my carburetor and thoroughly cleaned it. Put it back on and starts right up and runs like it should. However, it is leaking gas right at that point. See photo Also what is the screw to the right for. Is it possible to unscrew that and replace that part? All of the schematics of this carb (2005 WR250F, Keihn carburetor) do not give a description of what these parts do. Additionally, if this is the problem and it is not replaceable, is there a sealing agent to use around that joint/contact point to prevent it from leaking. Thanks, Bmillsie
  4. My '08 250XCF has a presized and prebent fuel line from the gas tank to the carb. I want to re-run it and want to buy some generic gas line that is about two inches longer. The stock part is "50307016000FUEL PREFORMED HOSE" Does anyone know the size? It looks to be about 6mm and maybe 75mm long Thanks
  5. I have to pull the seat and gas tank to get access to the spark plug in my 2021 KTM 300 XCW TPI. Taking it off is easy, and putting it back and bolted back is also easy. But I have a lot of problems getting the fuel line to reconnect. You have to press the release on the line from the tank and push the hose/connector onto a matching connector going towards the throttle body (I don't really know where it goes) There isn't much space in that area, I have big hands. You have to put your hand behind the connector and pull it out towards you will you press the release and push the line from the tank. I have huge problems pressing the release tab and pushing it onto the connector AND pulling the connector out to meet. On my bike, the release tab is on the bottom of the fitting, so to get it to release you have to press up. I wonder if rotating it, either to point to the back or to point up, would make it easier. Which direction does the tab on other folks' TPI bikes? Is there a trick or tool?
  6. I replaced my petcock recently, and would to also like to replace the loosely fitting hose with metal clips that slide around. I looked all over the place and cannot find hosing for a fuel line to the petcock and carb. Do I just haft to buy specific diameter tubing for my 99’ RM125? Thanks!
  7. Hi everyone new to this forum as well as being new to working on 2 stroke dirtbikes. I recently purchased a 2002 JR 50 for my son for Christmas, I have been tinkering with it to get it running good before christmas morning and now I'm in a time crunch with some much needed info. I have replaced the carb because the original was giving me fits and bike was constantly flooding, after new carb it fires and runs. I hooked the lines back up how they were when i recieved it but just found out it was incorrect. I had a line that I assume was the overflow line to the crank breather! Which being a diesel tech i know is no bueno. But the old carb only had one small line that was orginally hooked up there now the new carb has 2 small lines coming off? Im sure 1 is the overflow but I'm not sure what the other one is for I can post pics for reference anything would help. Thanks
