While doing some browsing/research about various models, I noticed that there are no longer any green sticker 450's for the 2018 model year of all the manufacturers (at least according to https://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad/cert/ofhrv/ofmcatv_comply/2018/2018.php) While I'm sure KTM/Husqvarna will come out with their 450 EXC's that are green stickered in the US, I still question the lack of green sticker 450's from the Japanese manufacturers. Was there some sort of regulatory change or did the manufacturers just decide to pull the 2018 green stickers for some secret reason we don't know about? One of the biggest selling points of the WR450F in CA was the fact that it's green sticker, and now that they're no longer green sticker there really is no incentive to pick one up anymore. Just wanted to share what happened because I don't think anyone else has posted something like this. I've been riding my 08 RMZ250F at Hollister this summer. I got an extra green sticker from my pit bike and stuck it on. If you go to DMV or AAA and say you lost the reg sticker for a bike they will charge you $22 and give you a different sticker with different numbers and reassign this new sticker to the bike. So you can even take the 2 bikes at the some time. I went once a week maybe about 8 times total before I was caught. The rangers at the front don't notice. They always let me through. The rangers aren't anal about checking. One time a Highway Patrol guy or cop or whatever they are stopped me but he just told me I couldn't do wheelies on the paved streets. 2 weeks later one stopped me who was in an SUV when i was going really slow at the campsite. I guess he knows what red sticker bikes look like. They were going around to all the sites checking everyone's Reg it looked like. He checked my VIN and saw it was really a red sticker bike. I told him the sticker was on the bike already when I bought it from craigslist. He called someone and ran the sticker numbers and it came up as being for a jet ski registered to someone named Evan for some reason. No idea why since I bought the sticker from AAA and they assigned to my bike which is in my name. But since the Cop couldn't prove my story was wrong about it being on the my bike when I bought it he just gave me a fix it ticket. He also took the green sticker off my bike. After the cop left I still rode all day. So I still don't know how much the ticket would cost for that if I had received the fine and not just a fix-it ticket. If someone has actually gotten fined for this and knows please let us know.- 11 replies

TTR250, 2nd owner, professionally maintained and upgrades with title in hand, rare California green sticker machine! 140 miles, clean except for a few scratches on front fender and bark busters from trees, all original bodywork but has One Industries gripper seat top (stock is not damaged as spare). Upgrades include: FMF Q muffler with US Forest Service approved spark arrestor, carb rejetted wirh UNI foam filter, Iridium spark plug, K&N crankcase filter, Barnett Kevlar clutch pack and hi performance springs, stainless steel racing and reusable oil filter, only Red Line Oil 100% synthetic with high zinc used by first and second owner. Runs strong, shifts smooth, no smoke, starts right up cold or hot. Compression is good. I have ceramic coated race header but not installed. Hello, I am new to this forum and certainly new to purchasing bikes. I plan on being a 50/50 rider, half trails and half track. I live in Central Valley, Fresno. I plan to ride a track in Handford, dove springs, Miami trails, and other Sierra National Forrest locations. I am hoping to get some advice on what I should buy. I would really prefer to buy a green sticker, in the past I had a KTM xc-w 450 and loved it, seemed good for both styles of riding. Now that I'm on my own money with buying a bike I'm not interested in spending an extra 2k for KTM. I've been looking at the Kx 450 and CRF 450r. My question is whether or not these models are both red sticker, I've read different things on every page I go to. If both are red sticker, do you guys have any advice on what would be a good option for me? I'm 215, 6'1" and would say I am an intermediate rider. I'd like to stay below 5k. I have a 2023 yz250fx that I ride at home in OR but I want to bring it down to cali for weekend rides while I’m at school. It seems that this bike is pretty much a no go in cali (red, green sticker, dual sport not possible) Should I just hope I’m faster than the law or is there a way to ride legal?

Hey guys, I have a question. I go to Gorman, but they require green sticker to ride during the summer. I want to buy a newer bike, but can't take it there during summer. How does everyone who have red sticker bikes ride during the summer? Let me know where you guys go.
