Hi everyone and merry chrimbo to all. Ive pretty much finished my resto project and everything’s great apart from the dim lights. I bought the bike with the problem, and thought it would be an easy fix. Nothing seems to fix the fault. So far, I’ve replaced the whole wiring harness, the rear light and wires, brake light switch and wires, front light holder and wires, speedo cable and wires. All 6v bulbs and I even had the light coils checked and replaced. So everything has been done apart from the handlebar switchgear. I had the frame powdercoated, but sanded the main earth point for the harnsess, so it’s a good earth. Even, ground two points of the five engine mounting points away hoping that might help. All the electrics work like they should including the pass light, just dim lights. Has anyone had this problem? Does the engine need to be grounded at every point? I thought if the engine had one good ground that would be enough. Really at a loss with this, and if I can’t sort I have to admit defeat and had it over to an auto electrician ?

Had a short in the Light&Battery wiring harness Due to the short, the connectors for the Rectifier and this Wiring harness overheated and burnt up the terminals inside. (Circled in yellow) https://www.bikebandit.com/oem-parts/detail/husqvarna/59411075100/b4473360?m=159829&sch=1024331 When installing my new battery, as soon as connecting the positive line, smoke would billow from that location. I've a new Rectifier and Wiring Harness on order (as well a new COIL just for sanity - although all resistance testing passed. Bike was running fine) It could be a few weekends before the other parts arrive....While waiting for the new harness and Rectifier, is it safe to operate the machine without the wire harness & rectifier?(I believe its called a loom harness) This will leave two leads from the Stator disconnected(see attached) that would normally plug into this light & battery harness (not to be confused with the CDI Box Harness as listed here: https://www.ktmpartspro.com/oemparts/a/hqv/5ef617cc87a86615341c57b4/ignition-system Thanks for the input, -
I have a 2014 450 XC-W. I'm adding high/low beam, signals, horn, etc. I'm aware of the Sicass kit options but I chose to order OE KTM EXC harness components. I ordered the lighting and turn signal harness for a 2014 EXC (77711079000 and 77711081000) and decided for the time being not to install a keyed ignition switch. Instead, I ordered the key switch eliminator jumper (781119990000). I also got the Euro headlight and flasher switch (78111070000 & 78111029000). In looking at the parts breakdown, the XC-W and the EXC have the same "main" harness (7811075133). I'm in the process of installing the EXC harnesses and most of it is falling into place. Except for one thing; on the EXC, the key switch eliminator jumper simply replaces a jumper that's already in the harness. You simply unplug the ignition switch, install the key switch eliminator jumper in place of the stock jumper and you're good to go. Here's the thing; I don't have the "stock" jumper anywhere in my harness nor do I see the four pin connector where the EXC keyed ignition switch would plug into. Again, I realize my bike is an XC-W and the ignition switch wiring was not stock on this bike, but I have installed the lighting and flasher harness for the EXC. All other harness part numbers I can find are common between the XC-W and the EXC. I can't find a single harness part number that differs between the EXC and my XC-W (now that I've installed the two EXC harnesses). I can only assume the stock jumper and the four-pin ignition switch connector are part of an EXC specific harness, but I'm stumped as to which harness that could be. Again, I don't see any harness part number variation between the XC-W and EXC models. Thoughts?

Hello! I am removing an old enduro/street legal kit for my 1997 XR400 and upgrading to LED blinkers and an LED front light - i want to keep the stock rear fender with the brake light/two filament bulb because it works. I am doing this with a Baja Designs Squadron Pro MC LED Race headlight, the Baja designs REC/REG and fuse, Tusk LED/Harness/blinker kit, and a 12V AGM battery. Here is my modified wiring diagram - with the Stock diagram for reference. Was hoping some of you wiring gurus (or XR guys) would look over my drawing and see if you can find any issues or have suggestions before I start cutting things up. :) Thanks! -
bought a 2005 ktm 200 exc and the speedometer seems to be removed. also there is a small metallic pin next to the speedometer mounting, any idea what that is for? I have no knowledge in bikes, and would like to get the lights working as soon as possible.

I have a 2020 yz250fx that needs a headlight. I would like to do a factory style harness mirroring that of the wr250. Anyone have any recommendations on where to splice and pull power from? Im not crazy about connecting directly to the battery and would prefer to run it through the electrical system already in play. Does anyone know of a company that makes a good harness or am I going to have to wire one up myself? Details/ideas/pics are greatly appreciated!!!

Trying to get locate a replacement key ignition switch for my 96 DR350SE. Everything on eBay seems to have a different wiring harness pattern. The one I have looks exactly like the attached pic and url: https://www.cmsnl.com/dr350se-1996-t_model13183/switch-assy-ignition_3711003d01/ A lot of the ones on eBay don’t have the separate black w/ yellow stripe wire outside the plug. Anyone know where I can get one of these in the pic/url thanks,
