  1. Hello TT peeps. I currently have an 11' Ktm 450 exc which i am converting to sumo. Still on the fence about getting cush drive rims or standard rims. Not too much info on what cush drive does for wheelies. I know its smoother on the tranny and chain but will it make much of a difference with slower wheelies/stunting? I had a DRZ with standard rims and slower wheelies were very choppy and almost impossible to control smoothly. Any advice/tips/help will be much appreciated. 🙄 Also.... will 5" rims be pushing it for chain rub? Should i just stick with 4.25"?
  2. so I'm wondering about buying a 250cc 2 stroke I just turned 15 and weigh about 120lbs and am looking for a dirtbike coming off a Yamaha banshee. I will be mostly riding in the sand dunes but do go up and ride semi technical trails and desert riding. i've heard that a 125 will not have enough power for sand riding. would I be able to hold the bike up being around 5'9-5'10? what would y'all recommend I look for. (not at all considering a 4 stroke because of the costs of rebuilds)
  3. Okay I got a 1994 ktm 250 EXC last summer the bike ran great all year started first second kick always. This year when I got it out it seemed like it always just wanted to barely start but never would. I took the carb apart it was very clean but I cleaned it anyways and put it back together I also replaced the spark plug with the same plug I ran in it the previous summer I noticed I had a very weak spark compared to my rm 125 u had to Cup ur hands around it to see it at all if u took the cap off and put a screw driver up there and kicked it over it only tingled and didn’t give a good kick like some people say it is supposed to I replaced the plug anyways and it did start and Idled good for a min and then started to bog down I would give it gas and noting and then would rev real high I tried to ride it just around in first gear and the bike bogged down I would give it gas and it would be a full second and then lulch forward then it either died or u was done with it for the night. The next day I lowered the float bowl some since it seemed like it had too much gas but now I feel as though it is the spark not sparking the gas that is in there. I have tried several things the spark plug that is in it is not the manuals one but it ran fine with it last year so I don’t think that is the problem any suggestions I don’t see it very much online with a weak spark it’s always no spark.

  5. I just picked up a 2008 ttr110. It had no battery, no key, no starter, anything that was extra and wasnt needed, stripping it bare. I was popping wheelies, slipped and the bike fell. Not a bad fall, but when i got up and drove off, only neutral, first, and second gear were available. When your in second and go to shift it feels like your in forth, where you cant shift up. The bike is semi, And i need help ASAP before i overpay to get it fixed (only place near me charges 89$ an hour) or what i need to fix it. If i have to, i will open up the engine.

  7. I bought a new chain and sprockets for my 04 cr125 and I cant figure out how to make it fit. Its too long so I was going to take a link out but then it'll be too short. Ive moved the adujster blocks from all the way forward to all the way back but it won't work either way. Chain and sprockets are all stock sizes.
  8. My 2010 KTM 300 XCW started behaving a few rides ago and I have been unable to locate the problem so if anyone could help me out I would be appreciative. So basically the "Mid Range" just disappeared. At low RPM and High RPM the bike is operating just like it use to. However in the middle zone the Power Doesn't seem to be getting transferred to the wheel. The first time I noticed this issue a hard rev seemed to restore it back to normal operating. After ride that the middle range has never returned. There were no changes on anything else in the bike. The spark plug checks out.
  9. I recently purchased a 2010 KX250F from a friend of mine that had been sitting in his garage for about 5 years. The bike seemed to be in decent shape and the price was right so i picked it up. I went through most of the bike before riding it (air filter, oil, greased all the bearings, adjusted suspension, changed all the fluids, etc) The valves sounded a bit loose so i decided to have a "Buddy of mine" adjust the valves. I get the bike back, go for a ride and the cam chain tensioner falls out while i was riding, luckily i caught it very soon after it happened and it never jumped timing. I put the tensioner back in and continue to ride the rest of the day. as the day goes on the valves sound much looser than they were originally before the adjustment was done, I decided to call it a day and tear the bike down myself. I shim the loose valves and button the bike back up, but now the thing sounds god awful. Straight up clacking coming from the right side of the top end. Since then ive probably had the bike apart and back together 4 or 5 times trying to figure out the problem. Its not the auto decompression valve, every valve is in spec, timing is solid, and the cam chain tensioner is working fine. I'm stumped. anyone have any thoughts?
  10. I have a xr 200 r its ran like a champ for the past five years but started smoking about a year ago and burning oil ive heard there are tricks such as pouring coke or diesel down the heads and letting it soak in to help solve it smoking is there anything else or would this work thank you.
  11. So I have had my 2005 Honda CRF 150F for around 4 years. It always gave me a hard time when it came to idling, but now the bike will just stall from idling for 3 min. I have to constantly rev the engine just a bit to keep the bike running. It runs great but when you come to a complete stop and put it in neutral, it dies. I preform regular maintenance on the bike but have not taken the whole bike apart myself. I was wondering if it would have something to do with the fuel/air mix screws.... i dont really know which one is which, i might have turned them too much(yes im a bit confused). I have attached a picture and if someone could tell me which one should be adjusted and how many turn out they should be. ( i have adjusted the bottom screw - near exhaust pipe and the middle screw..) Is there anything I could do to see if it will fix the problem before I would need to take it in to be serviced.
  12. ok, first thread, so if i mess up or do something wrong, im also 15 so remember any advice helps, Ive been riding dirt bikes since i was 3, before i even could ride a scooter, and ive always loved riding (sometimes a little too much) but that had always been dirt limited, until the beginning of this year i traded my (moped, which was actually incredibly illegal) as it went close to 70 with all the mods i put on it, for a 79 xl250, it ran, sort of, the guy sprayed gas in the cylinder and showed me it run, and i believed him. When i had gotten it home, the problems began adding up, it wasnt getting spark, the spokes on the front were all really loose, and someone really ****** up the paint job on the tank ( over the original honda stickers i might add) but this wasnt too bad, i saved up worked around my neighborhood and with my money, i got a supertrapp megaphone exhaust pipe ( someone butchered the old one completely) a new carb and airbox (someone took the airbox off and put metal mesh on, not even pods, just a piece of steel mesh over the tube) and a new cdi. This is when i started to realize i had gotten ripped off, first of all, it wasnt even a 250 engine, nor the right year, and there are no id numbers on the engine i can find to determine what year or size it is, so at this point i had blown all my money on parts for a bike that had the wrong engine. I immediately raced to ebay looking for a motor, no such luck, cheapest motor is 350 and its in terrible shape, i look on craigslist, nothing, i look on craigslist again a few hours later, and BOOM 79 xl250 runs & rides no title 300 dollars, perfect dent and scratch free original tank, oem seat, and every light they came with, and only 300 miles on it, im guessing it was kept in a barn, so i talk to the guy and i ask if i payed him 50$ if he would deliver it, and if he had paypal. he doesnt respond, i text him again after school that day "sorry i dont deliver, i sold it a few hours ago" instantly im even more frustrated, as this was exactly what i needed, but i have found another thing now, my neighbor has a 83 xl500 motor that runs and was fully rebuilt, hasnt even been put in a bike since he blew a head gasket on it, i was wondering how hard it would be to put this motor into the xl, i have very little fabricating experience, but my neighbor is a mechanic, he kinda laughed about it when i mentioned it to him, so im wondering, would it really be that difficult, thanks - Landon
  13. My friend bought a brand new Yz450f and he said he started noticing a scratching sound coming from the front brake science day one. According to him, overtime his front brakes have gotten worse and worse. Currently the brake lever can almost touch the grips when you pull it making it feel "squishy" and it brakes pretty bad. I tried to help diagnose the problem but I don't know much about brakes. Any ideas of what it could be? Thanks in advance.
  14. Anyone know what the crank should feel like when manually turing it? I'm getting 10 foot pounds of cam/rocker resistance every time I turn the crank with a ratchet. 10 foot pounds, and the plug's out! Is that normal, or is this a serious problem after all? In the past I remember it used to feel like maybe 3 ft. lbs. to turn it with the plug out. I can even feel it's become harder to kick...
  15. So today i was running my 2008 Rmz 450 and out the crank case over flow oil started coming out but it seemed to me to be a light brownish color. I drained the oil and the oil was a light brown. i dont know if it could be coolant in the oil i have never experienced it. If it is what should i check first?

I have a 1990 Suzuki 250 RMX I have just got done with a rebuild after sitting for 2years. i have replaced the stator and ignition coil. the problem this still stumps me I can turn the bike over with a drill and I get a 1/4 inch blue spark but if I try to kick it I get nothing even holding the wire with bare hands . The only thing i haven't replaced is the cdi box and wiring harness from what i can gather either the stator is out of time, bad wires ,or cdi box hopefully someone knows more than me i would rather not drop the almost $500 on a new cdi if that isn't the problem. Hopefully i cant get the info i need thanks
  17. Hey. I just got a 94rmx with a complete rm makeover, but I don't have the tools to fix it yet so I've not ridden yet. I was wondering if anyone has tips about riding.   18. Okay, so I bought this 2000 RM250, I've never done anything besides basic maintenance really, so I bought this to learn. Im not sure if im posting in the right place or not, if not forgive me, but I paid $200 for it, wasnt expecting much, he said he thought it needed carb work, but took off the top end and the piston has pock marks, and is shot, the cylinder looks clean, now the crank has play in it (vertically) so I was told the crankshaft needs replaced, on another forum, problem is I cant find a crank shaft, a complete bottom end, anything, closest I can find is a rod, and I can find top end kits all day long, also the swingarm bolt is seized, so advice on that would help also, so if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated, I found a 2002 bottom end on ebay but i'm not sure if it would work or not, but I bid on it since it was real cheap and something happened and ebay shut down my account, so any advice?
  19. Hey guys I'm new to this site. I was wondering if you guys could help me out With my 2005 crf150f. I was wondering if there is an electric start kit for the bike. Is it possible to have electric start and kick-start at the same time? that would be preferable. if anything I need to try to make my bike electric start. I know the crf230f has a lot of the same Parts as the 150f, but could an electric start from 230f be placed into a 150f. I plan on making my 150f street legal and electric start would be nice to have for a daily driver. For now while I wait to accumulate answers, I will be buying a dual sport kit from tusk and setting that up. I hear, however, I might need a stator swap. is this true? does somebody have a link to a stator I can use? thanks for your help in advance guys.
  20. So, my 2015 Wr450f had a FMF Powercore 4. The bike ran flawlessly, never stalled out and had tons of power. But, the neighbors didn't like how loud it was so I switched back to the stock exhaust with the pea shooter in it. The problem is, it is having lots of trouble starting, and stalls whenever you open the throttle somewhat quickly. I have the competition ECU and tuner, and throttle stop removed. Any ideas on why it runs so poorly with the stock exhaust? Too rich? Too lean? Anybody have their WR running good on the stock exhaust?
  21. I have a JAILING 2005 125cc Chinese dirt bike I cleaned the carb After it was sitting for 3 years not being ran. I changed the oil fuel lines flushed out the fuel tank with fuel. Fixed ignition being wired in reverse new spark plug and everything. I bike kicks over and starts for about 2 seconds and then dies any suggestions and what u should try?     I bought an old pit bike engine and I am having trouble with the clutch, I have never seen a clutch like this to me it looks like a centrifugal clutch but I thought it would have an arm coming from the gear shifter and to the clutch to engage the clutch but mine doesn't. Please help me and tell me what it is and how it works so I can ride the bike properly. I can change gears but it is very rough feeling but that might be how this bike works I don't know, please help. If it helps it is a 125cc engine.
  23. I was an idiot and accidentally over-tightened my spark plug on my KX450. In doing so I put a slight indention right in the center of the piston that you can see in the attached photo. I was wondering if this is enough damage to warrant me buying an entirely new piston? Or will I be okay to continue using this one?
  24. Here's the deal.. I'm visiting my mom for the next month or so and probably will be coming a couple times a year to visit.. Since I don't live here I don't really have a bike so looking to see of maybe anyone has a spare bike and needs a riding buddy. If i can find something cheap i may willing to pick it up just so i can ride where im here. I'm more than happy to help pay for gas or any other expenses. I have a car and can move around freely and have a bunch of spare time for the next month. I'm also decent with a wrench so willing to help work on your bikes or really anything. I just love riding and need to make some friends here . I ride woods/trails back home where I live in Belize.. I literally ride daily unless the bike is being worked on 7 Little about myself. 26 year old dude. Into sports and pretty much anything outdoors. Hunting fishing shooting guns camping whatever.. I love dirt riding. Rode about a year or two or track when I was younger. Then picked up another bike about a year and a half ago.i ride a yz450f so know what it's like jumping on a stallion... I'm experienced enough not to trash your bike and shouldn't hold u back. And I'm not broke so if I break something I'll pay for it. I understand this sport is expensive and it's a big risk to let some random dude on ur bike. I'm a decent rider for sure. I mean I crash every now and again but I've never seriously injured myself or screwed up a bike. I'm very level headed and know not to go too far out of my comfort zone or ride too far above my skill level. That said; I shouldn't hold u back on the trails or anything like that unless you are keeping her pinned on rev limited the whole time.
  25. My girlfriend and I just purchased two sr170tr bikes online. I put them both together, loctite bolts/screws with blue loctite, changed oil with 10w-40 non synthetic, oiled the air filter and filled them up with premium gas. My bike started after a couple kicks and is keeping idle/running fine. The second bike though has been extremely difficult to kick vs mine. It will occasionally kick but it stops/gets stuck so often you basically break your foot in the process. And when it does kick it has much more resistance in general. This is all based off of comparison with the working sr170tr. After many attempts to start the bike (checking spark plug, making sure wire connections are tight, and 100 difficult kicks) I noticed the manifold intake is cracked. Again this bike is new and never been started before so this was a major bummer... I have nearly zero experience with bikes and dont know how to go about this. Ive emailed the company that sent me the bikes about the broken manifold intake. But scratching my head about the difficult kick start issue. Will the broken intake have anything to do with the difficulty of kicking the engine? Thank you!
