  1. hey so this is my first post on thumpertalk. been trying to solve this for a while so I can get a couple more riding hours in before I can afford a new bike and I figured you guys could possibly help me or give me some clues to what the issue is or fixes. The bike in question is my 1999 kx80. So a day before all of these issues happened, the bike ran fine and clutch was fine. Shifting was okay. Since I got the bike shifting was kind of iffy and sometimes I would have to push the shifter two or three times to get into a certain gear. Bike isn't in the best condition and wont idle without choke on and will bog and die if it hasn't warmed up (no choke). So one day I brought it out to ride and right off the bat I could something was wrong because I tried shifting it down to first gear and it didn't make a click and felt like you were shifting to neutral (it does this to all the gears with the occasional feeling of it clicking into place but it still stays in the same gear) I rolled it and the tire would move then seize up then move and then seize up. It started up normally and I let go of the clutch lever and it was pulling very weakly and I had to give it a lot of throttle to make it move. I went up a hill and then all of a sudden the backtire seized up and the engine died and I skidded very fast to a stop. I had to drag it with the rear tire seized back to my lawn and I figured out that if I slightly moved the rear tire backwards I could "shift" I could move the shift lever and it felt like it was engaging but it did nothing. The engine still started up after that but even with the clutch lever pulled in it would act like it was still in gear and kept on trying to move forward. I put it back in the garage and brought it out and now it wont even start and just shoots a flame and makes a puff after 5-10 kicks. ive cleaned the carb really good and tried compression testing it by sticking my finger where the sparkplug screws in but instead of sucking my finger in it pushes it outwards. I don't know if it has spark but im assuming it does because ive changed the sparkplug multiple times and if I touch it while kicking I get shocked. Ive started looking into the issue today and took the clutch out and it has wear but nothing that looks like enough to cause an issue. What do you guys think the issue is?
  2. I got a question. I own a 2016 KX 85. It ran amazing after it first bought it used. I was riding one day with a bogging issue and about 35 minutes of riding I shut it off to take a break. Came back 20 minutes later and it would not start.I changed the spark plug, cleaned out the carb, checked the reeds, and tried hill starting it but nothing .When ever I try to hill start it I can hear it trying to crank and It starts for like half a second but then dies. There is spark coming from the plug though.I took the cylinder off and the piston and cylinder are &%$#@!ed.The piston rings were stuck in the grooves and I had to use pliers and a screwdriver to get it out. There was a ton of blow-by and the cylinder was scored.I bought a new piston already but how can I fix my cylinder.Im thinking of getting it repaired and replayed by either millennium,PowerSeal USA, or usnicom. This is my first time owning a 2 stroke.Any answers or tips.
  3. Hey just wondering if a 269cc big bore kit that is installed on a bike i have would work with a standard cylinder head as my head blew up and just want some conformation so i dont spend a ton of money one something that wont work. cheers in advance

  5. Hi guys I just did a top end rebuild on my 2004 yz450f and I inspected full motor, replaced the bottom end gaskets and seals, timing chain, cylinder, piston, rings, top end gaskets, valves, spark plug, and it ran fine fr about 15 hours besides a quiet ticking noise. I was put riding the other day and after about 6 hours of riding that day my buddy asked what my rev limiter sounds like and I said i don't know and I don't want to blow it up and he said it won't blow up so I started it up and pinned it to hear the rev limiter and I only held it open for one second and then it backfired and died. I tried to start it back up and the compression is extremely low. I can push kick it over with my hand easily. Pulled the head off and found some very small metal particles on the cams, timing was fine, and the top of the piston is ok, (haven't taken it out of the cylinder yet).... Anyone know what it could be???
  6. So I have a 1992 trx250x it runs like a champ after sitting outside for many years but the breaks continuously lock up. In order to fix this for a short period of time bleed them but it has became a waste of time and break fluid even if I bleed them completely in minutes they completely stiffen up and don’t move. I’m not sure what’s the problem but I need help. On a side note I’m wondering what is a good muffler for the 92 250x it already has a supertrapp but I’m wondering if I should change it.
  7. Hey so I just did the 3x3 mod and jd jet on my 2013 drz400s after riding around my neighborhood to warm the bike up and coming back to adjust the fuel screw which is at 1.5 -2 turns out i heard my fan come on after i turned the bike off and left the key in on. Ive never heard my fan come on since i have had the bike about three weeks now. I have the red needle with the clip 3rd down. 155 main? 25 pilot. I used red because im in the Inland northwest where its been 80-90 degrees during the summer but chilly in spring and fall. i am riding at about 2000-4000 elevation. please help did i use the wrong jets? i was able to peel out on asphalt in second going around a corner lol wasnt able to do that before
  8. Hey guys, Big questions to ask. I got a superstomp 140 pitbike, unfortunately its been sat for years now. But I want to get it started again as never got to have as much fun as I wanted. What I need to know? CAN it be restored, and what do I need to do. I know fuel tank and carb needs a clean, breaks to be bled, oil changed. Can you reverse corrosion? And remove rust? I know some bushes, bearings and washers will need to be replaced. Wheres the battery? Will the ignition be okay? Guys I'm aware I'm a rookie. I've dealt with cars but not bikes. Because of lockdown I cant get it seen and thought I'd make a start. Any advice will be so much appreciated. Cheers
  9. Hi I recently bought a really really clean 2011 kx250f that was completely rebuilt by a mechanic. I took her to the track and it ran absolutely perfect and sounds awesome, but we had the common oil leak problem from the sparkplug weep hole on the right side of the cylinder so we took off the valve cover and put sealant on the top o ring right below the valve cover (the only thing we did) and we think it fixed the oil leak problem without having to take off the cam caps to get to the second o ring, but after reassembling and putting the gas tank back on we started it up and it ran horribly almost sounds like a misfire and is blowing white smoke out the exhaust, which is neither coolant or oil being burned for sure, so it has to be fuel? Also my timing is perfect we never did anything more than taking the valve cover off and now its running so off and wont idle, you have to play with the throttle to keep it running. I'm so stumped any ideas? Fuel injector problem? Spark problem?(I never did end up changing the sparkplug, and oil did leak into the sparkplug chamber cause the leak) Also here is a video of how its running with sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated before I take this thing to a shop.... TLDR: Bike ran amazing, Wanted to fix easy oil leak, took off fuel tank completely, took off valve cover and nothing else, added sealant to o ring right below valve cover to prevent oil leak from weep hole, reassembled fully, doesn't run right, misfire? didn't change/mess with anything to cause a problem like this but here we are.
