  1. So I have had my 2005 Honda CRF 150F for around 4 years. It always gave me a hard time when it came to idling, but now the bike will just stall from idling for 3 min. I have to constantly rev the engine just a bit to keep the bike running. It runs great but when you come to a complete stop and put it in neutral, it dies. I preform regular maintenance on the bike but have not taken the whole bike apart myself. I was wondering if it would have something to do with the fuel/air mix screws.... i dont really know which one is which, i might have turned them too much(yes im a bit confused). I have attached a picture and if someone could tell me which one should be adjusted and how many turn out they should be. ( i have adjusted the bottom screw - near exhaust pipe and the middle screw..) Is there anything I could do to see if it will fix the problem before I would need to take it in to be serviced.

  3. I have a 2007 WRE125, with stock carb (Dellorto VHST28) and a HGS exhaust. It has a new piston now having around 5.5 hours on it and I have checked the reeds and replaced them. The bottom ones have light shining through the sides a bit, but the top ones seal fully. Now, to the point. I've had some problems with getting the bike to idle. It will idle if the slide stop screw is screwed in a lot, but this will cause the revs to hang a bit. It will also idle with half choke, even when warm. I've cleaned the carb with both carb & brake cleaner with no improvements. I have currently no access to compressed air. The float level seems close to parallel (looking at the float seam and carb bottom). The float has been adjusted before, because the float got stuck with dirt in the float needle and the float level also was pretty high. Screwing in the mixture screw will make the idle even rougher and it will stall in a matter of seconds. Screwing it out will cause it to idle very weakly around 1200-1300 rpm and it also causes the revs to hang slightly. Trying to adjust the idle speed with the slide stop screw will not change the idle rpm when it drops to the 1200-1300 rpm range. It will change the idle rpm, if I have the choke half on. The idling on half choke is really nice, it is pretty smooth and you can clearly hear the "dings" on the exhaust. I've tried to locate air leaks by spraying gasoline around the carb, intake boot, the ignition cover, but it seems there are no major air leaks. The current pilot jet is U34, and I have U35 and U38 (stock setup with the restricted exhaust). I have tried the U35 before I put the new piston, but it had the same rough idle unless I screwed out the mixture screw many, many turns. The air filter has been either pretty clean or only slightly dusty when testing out different jets etc. Another problem is that I cannot seem to get the main jet right. I have currently a 175 main jet (which is considered maybe a bit rich) that I had when breaking in a new piston (currently has 5.5 hours on it). This main jet seems to give decent midrange torque (the bike is still pretty lifeless at 5500-7000rpm) but it feels like it revs out more slowly when on the pipe. Also it sputters a bit more than the 170, but still not very badly. With the 170 main jet, the bike feels like it starts to overheat when making hard WOT pulls with it. The bike will then start to surge a bit with low throttle and medium rpm. It will however, rev out fully, and it revs quite fast in neutral too. I have not seen a 172 jet sold anywhere and I'm pretty sure that a 165 jet is too lean. Also there are some sputtering when trying get on the pipe on 2nd gear (I have not really tried it with the first gear, because it is very short anyways). I do not know if this might be wheelspin messing around or the jetting. Sitting back on the seat seems to help a bit. Sorry for the poor english, I'm from Finland and don't speak nor write english very well.
  4. My 2001 cr250r won’t idle more than 6-7 seconds after it is warmed up. I tried messing with the air screw and idle screw and I could not get it to idle. The bike is also running rich since I fouled 3 plugs within a short amount of time and they were black in color. I looked at the pilot and main jet and both were the stock size. Getting the airscrew in the correct place may stop it from fouling. My question is would dropping the main jet a size help in idling? Thanks for the help
  5. Good evening guys, I have a problem with the idlespeed of my 08 yz 250. When the bike is cold the idle is constandly up above normal speed, if it gets to operrating temperatue the idlespeed hast somesting like a step when the engine rewing down.Afte about 8-10 seconds the idle drops below normal speed. things i've checked/ changed: -Airfilter -checked for sucking in air from outside carb. -cleaned carb -brought carb to stock adjustments ( needleclip, airscrew 1 turn out) -reeds checked -crank seals done today -piston is about 10h's old A big confusement for me : pilot jet is #50 ( stock is #52) and the bike is still running too rich when reving it from the low ildespeed. does anyone have an idea ?
