  1. how to relocate your key to the RH side of the front turn signal 1/4" thick aluminum plate 3" long 1 1/2" wide made this at work on a slow day after hours removed OEM key holder I had to do a bit of trimming on the plastic on the RH side above where the signal bolts to the head light housing how it trimmed it was by heating up a razor blade and cutting slowly trimming it back to fit nice and drilling and die grinding it down to fit the key housing in the plate i made. looks like i drilled a 3/8" hole to bolt it with the signal light just have to unplug the light and unbolt the light and remove the washer and nut and install the key bracket in on the signal light bolt and install the washer and nut. and install key cylinder and adjust where you would like the key to sit for off and on
  2. I have left the key in the ON position too many times. I'm on my third lithium battery (haven't actually bought the 3rd yet). First time the dealer warranted the battery (even thought i'm sure it was my fault for leaving key on). 2nd time I bought an Anti-Gravity ATZ-7 RE-START. (three months ago, not cheap). The concept of the restart is that if you drain it down, it will cut out and save some energy that can be accessed after pressing button on battery. That seemed like the best solution, however, since I can't seem to stop leaving key on (no advice for that needed; I can't overcome it), I found out the re-start function doesn't have enough energy to start bike. Not all bad, because at least the battery is not drained to the point of damaging...bump start (not easy) and all good. However, even with the advanced circuits etc, I killed my expensive re-start by accident by shorting battery (ground touched positive for the shortest amount of time known to man). No big spark just a tiny little spark that turned my fully charged battery into something I can only get 3 volts from now...I assume it is dead. Two questions: 1. Does anyone know FOR SURE if a lead acid (sealed) battery can be used? If so, which model/brand etc (there are a million sizes and most are too tall to fit) 2. Does anyone know if there is a solution for these bikes after 2016 that can eliminate the possibility of killing the battery from leaving the key on? I've included a link to a previous discussion about key eliminator but that topic is 2016 and i've googled to see that it is not likely applicable to 2017+ (it seemed like the solution was to just remove a jumper, no parts needed). Loved the idea but I don't think it applies to models after 2016. https://thumpertalk.com/forums/topic/1091689-interesting-keyswitch-trick/ Thanks in advance for any help. First time poster, please be kind.
  3. I have a DRZ400 (the off-road kicker model) that the previous owner installed a key switch onto. I used to be able to use the key switch to kill the engine by turning it to "off", but now it seems to run fine even in the "off" position. The killswitch still works normally. Does anybody have any experience wiring up key switches to DRZs? Is there a general diagram that I should be looking at to guide me to a bad connection, or perhaps this symptom is specific enough to know exactly where to look? Thanks!
  4. Hello, Recently my '07 525 EXC was stolen, thankfully the Alameda police found it. Unfortunately the bike wasn't the same when she returned. It had a screwdriver ignition in place of the stock key switch. Do any of you have the pinout of the oem switch plug and switch? I bought a replacement switch from ebay and it didn't have a matching plug. I am trying to wire in the new switch, but I am unsure the wiring combo. http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Wires-Universal-Ignition-Switch-Key-for-Honda-Yamaha-Kawasaki-Suzuki-KTM-/331584958637 From what I can tell, the switch works as: Switch Off Wire A + B = On Wire C + D = Off Switch On Wire A + B = Off Wire C + D = On Joe
  5. It's cool that we get to plate our dirt bikes in Michigan and ride from the trails into town for gas and lunch, but I always hate the thought of some dirt bag stealing my bike while I'm having a burger. I asked my friends at Sicass Racing to help with a solution, and here's what they came up with. The connectors plug straight into the stock harness behind the headlight, and you get two keys with this kit. They also made one up that's just a sneaky switch that grounds out the kill switch and cuts power to the estart.
