  1. I have a 1999 KLX300R which I bought this past April (2017). I only ever ride it on the weekends for no more than an hour (time constraints). Since I bough it, it has always ran hot. The oversized aftermarket pipe it has constantly heats and burns my leg, just from those hour rides. I've dropped it twice and both times the coolant boiled afterward, but it doesn't boil when I just riding it normally. Just this past weekend (late July), I went riding with some friends and put some hard hours on it. As I was coming in for a break I pulled in the clutch and the engine immediately stopped and locked up. I got off and tried to kick it over but it wouldn't budge. I let it cool down then rolled it back and forth in 6th gear to free it up. It starts and runs smoothly now, but there sounds and feels like there is something rattling around in the top of the cylinder. What should I do? Can and should I try to swap another engine into it? What could the problem be? broken piston ring? broken valve/shim?
  2. Hello friends, Just thought I'd share a short summary video of a 154-mile adventure ride my buddy and I did last week. Northeastern AZ has an unbelievable amount of rural trail/road to explore. My KLX300R averaged 71.5 MPG on this ride.
  3. I know, I know...it's not fair, but sometimes you gotta remind your boys who's the boss. Plus, racing is just plain fun. Had a blast out with my boys riding today. The bikes in the video are a 2007 Honda CRF70F, and a 2002 Kawasaki KLX300R.

  5. After two full and intense days of trail riding on the Paiute Trail System in Utah, my buddy and I rode out bikes into the bed of the Ram 1500 and headed back to the hotel for some R&R.

  8. Hi all, new to here. I'm currently torn between these 3 bikes, the CRF250F, KLX300R and the KLX230R. I'm 6'0/184cm and 200lb/91kg. I currently own a 2019 KX250F (my first bike, bit of a noob mistake but learnt how to handle it well) and 95% of the time do trail riding and the odd rip around the sand beach ride. I've only been riding for less than a year so I still consider myself newish to this. Does anyone own/ridden either of these bikes and can point me in the right direction? The KLX230R looks nice but I'm unsure if the power won't be there because of my weight, the 300R looks like a heavy bike. Bit unsure of the CRF because of its lowish seat height and super soft suspension (and my other half has one already so I don't want to copy her😂 jokes...)

  11. Hello friends, Nearly one month ago my riding buddy and I spent two days in the Paiute Trail System in Utah. One of the most challenging portions of the ride was this section of switchbacks up and over Circleville Mountain. It was very fun, and knowing you have a steep drop-off next to you for 6 straight minutes of climbing always bumps up the adrenaline.

  13. Hello friends, For those curious about the stock gearing (with stock sprockets) on a Kawasaki KLX300R, I put together this short video. Also, I included the part 1 minute later where an antelope ran across my path. Look closely and you can see it.
  14. So, I found an absolutely beautiful klx300 yesterday on craigslist for $2400. Has roughly 50 original miles. I got it from the original owner who spent the past several years building it. Has all stroker pars including carb, cam, full exhaust system and other little odds and ends. also has brand new factory connection suspension set up for my weight, baja lighting kit, and a street title! Wondering what are the must haves to make it a dual sport like tires etc. It has DOT knobbies but it will be a bit aggressive for the street. thanks
  15. Greetings, for a while now i’ve been looking for a slip-on for the 300r that isn’t $300+. I found a company called delkevic that makes a 14” slip-on with a removable spark arrestor for $230. Only problem is its made for the dual-sport klx300. Fits that bike with no issues. Took a gamble and bought it just to find out that the Klx300r is very different. With a saw, drill and rivet gun, I was able to make the slip-on fit the 300r and look nice. The muffler from delkevic comes in at 14” stock which looks good on the dual-sport but on the R it looks ridiculously long. I took 3.5” off the muffler and riveted it back together for a much nicer look. The midpipe was hanging a little low for my liking so i also drilled a new mounting hole for that piece and raised it. Now everything bolts right up and fits nicely. The sound is incredible I can’t wait to take it for a ride here soon. I have a tune I need to upload still for the slip-on that should really open it up now. STOKED!! 🤙🤙 Stock pipe…… Stock delkevic fitment…… waaaay too long chopped 3.5” and mounted properly
  16. Hello friends, I have seen some discussion about DRZ400 (DRZ400S, etc) vs whatever other bike, when it comes to power. My riding buddy and I threw down some good old drag races this morning on the way back home after some adventure in the forest. I own/ride a 2002 KLX300R. We ran two heats, one on gravel, then one one asphalt. Who do you think won? See below:

  19. I've been riding for a long time and currently ride a KX250 2-Stroke. I like the price and height of the CRF250F and it seems like it will be well supported like the 230F. Also considering a KLX230R and KLX300R, but not excited about the weight on the 300R and think the Honda will be more reliable. I ride a lot of tight single track, weigh about 130 and am 5'5". I'm in my mid 40s but still reasonably fast. Don't want to buy used and don't want to spend big $. Anyone else out there with a similar story that did or didn't regret buying the CRF? I know this should probably go in the 'which bike should I get' forum, but I kind of wanted to hear from CRF owners first although I may post there too. TIA

  22. Howdy friends, This past Saturday I rode solo from 5:20am - 7:20am out into the nearby forest. There is so much open space out here in NE Arizona that riding opportunities and new trails are endless. This loop, including new trail, was a total of 34.4 miles. Here's a small video summary of my ride.
