  1. I just bought a 2003 kx250 a few weeks ago. The guy I bought it from said he dropped the bike on it's side, and after that, the front brakes would "act up," but after feeling them, I figured they would just need bled and would be fine. After getting the bike home, I bled the brakes and realized that they weren't just mushy, but they would only grab on for a second before losing pressure, even while holding the lever all the way down. Sometimes they grab a lot harder for a lot longer, but they mostly just squeeze for a quick second. Also, when attempting to bleed the brakes for the third time, I realized that every time I pulled the brake lever, bubbles would rise from the bottom of the reservoir, which I was thinking maybe meant the master cylinder was damaged causing it to pump air into the brake line, but I don't know. I don't really want to take my bike to a shop or to buy a whole new front brake setup, so any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks! (Edit: I've never dealt with dirt bike brakes, so this is all new to me)
  2. I am looking at getting my first dirt bike, I have ridden quads and have always wanted to ride bikes. Before people start sharing there opinions about 2 stroke vs 4, this is what I'm looking to get out of the bike. Something that is fun and easy to learn on, Period. Don't worry about maintenance costs or the "thrill" of 2 strokes etc... I originally though 2 stroke but my buddy has a 2 stroke kx250 and i felt like i was out of control every time time i gave more then a touch of throttle. Is this because I'm new to riding dirt bikes or is this a 2 stroke thing. I want something that is easy to control and I like what people say about the smooth power bands on the 4 strokes. Cheers, Kyler
  3. So I'm looking for some pivot levers for my clutch and hand brake on my '99 KX 250, I found these ones on amazon that say they will fit an '00 to '04 kx250, do you guys think these would fit my '99? if not do you know any that I can buy online, Im looking for green ones specifically, Thanks. https://www.amazon.com/MZS-2000-2017-2001-2017-2000-2005-2000-2004/dp/B01E6XQDFM/ref=wl_mb_wl_huc_mrai_1_dp
  4. I bought a kx 250 a couple months back was told it was a 1997 i looked up the vin on the frame and it was a 1992. I didn't mind because regardless i had gotten 250 bucks off anyway. I rebuilt it and did the clutch but the gasket kit i bought for a 1992 kx 250 was not right at all so i bought a different one and that one wasnt right. Basically is there a way i can look up what year my engine is i tried typing in the engine vin and it didnt work. Thanks!
  5. Hi all, Have a problem here that I need sorted by tomorrow night. Let me just say that the bike (2010 kx250f) was running like a dream (well, maybe a little lean) before any of this happened. Recently the throttle cable snapped which prompted me to replace it, no biggie. I had been running without a hotstart since I had bought the bike last year so I decided to replace it along side the throttle repair. The bike came with no lever for the hotstart and I presumed that the cable was snapped (which it was). I bought a replacement cable and lever, no hassle. I pulled the tank off the bike to access the carb to replace the cable. I unscrewed the plastic screw that sits over the hotstart. There was no little brass cylinder (not sure if this is the plunger) or spring on the end of the cable or in this screw. There was no point in replacing the cable since I hadn't got the brass cylinder or spring so I left it while i fixed the throttle cables. I have now seemingly lost the black plastic screw leaving a little nipple like rubbery thing sticking out of hotstart port in the carb. I am presuming that this is the plunger which should be pushed into itself rather than sticking out. I didn't think of it as much of an issue at the time, but now with the bike back together, the carb is pissing out fuel, from what I think is the float overflow tube, every time I turn the fuel flow valve to open. I can now not get the bike started.. The only reason I can think of this happening is because the little rubber nipple is sticking out of the carb. Can anyone confirm this or have any quick fixes that I can use? I cannot for the life of me find the plastic screw and will not be able to get one by Sunday Below on the right, is a picture of the black plastic screw I was talking about.
  6. Any idea what bike I should get I want something fast I'm 5'8 125 pounds and 13 years old
  7. Hello! I am hoping to get some help with my 2006 KX250F. The problem is that it keeps blowing oil seals on the engine. I have checked the crank case breather tube and it is free of any sort of trash that may have built up between rides. I was it regularly. I have replaced most of the outer seals aside the valve cover gasket. Any suggestions would be a big help in attempting to solve my problem.
  8. Which helmet should I get, Bell moto 9 carbon flex or 6d atr-2?
  9. Hi guys i have some questions and would appreciate any help you guys may have. I have a 1998 yz 250 ive had for a few years thats been in the famliy for awile. I am doing a ground up redo on it this winter. Im geting a used frame because the one i have dosent have a title so i figured wile im at it ill get a 1998/1997 wr 250 frame so i can make it street legal. I know the 98 wr 250 wasent introduced in the us but the 97 was and the yz 250 is the same bike from 96 to 98. So my question is are the wr 250s the same ? Could i find a 97 wr250 frame and swap everything from my 98 yz 250 to it ? I wont realy ride it on the street much considering its not the best bike for commuting (by far) lol, but i figure if im geting another frame with a title miswell be able to throw my street tires on it and rip some twistes with it if i want to. Thanks for any help.
  10. Hi all, I have a 2004 kx 250 2 stroke and it wont start. it only backfires. I was out riding it one day and came up to a stop so the bike was just idling and it started to try and die so i revved it up a few times then let it die and now it wont start back up. It only pops or backfires when you kick it. Its getting good spark and i just put a brand new plug and coil in it. I took the reeds apart and they look like they're brand new. It was running great before so i dont know what happened. Im thinking it could be a fuel problem even tho the plug is a little wet if you take it out after a bunch of kicking. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks
  11. Hi all, I have a 2012 kx250f. I recently thought I saw something weird in the coolant. I changed it about 10 minutes ago and found lots of these little flakes in the coolant. I think it’s metal, but not sure. They aren’t magnetic so if they are it’s aluminum. What can this be, and what are the causes if it is aluminum? Here’s a picture for reference.(it’s on the tip of my thumb) there were lots of these.
  12. I have a Voss helmet and really like it I was wondering if anyone else has experience with their products and what they think.
  13. So I converted a 1994 KX 250 into a flat track bike. I recently changed to a modern front Flat track tire that is 135 mm wide and this is causing some slight rubbing to the lower portion of the upper fork tube. Does anyone know if there are any triple clamps that I could bolt woth minor modifications that would make the forks slightly wider front center t oto center and be able to retain the stock forks? I only need maybe 4 to 8 mm I do know I could have custom ones made, but i hoped someone might know of a less costly solution, other option is to machine the forks, but I fear that I'll lose the interety of the structure... Any help would be appreciated Thank you

  16. I need some help, please. The main exhaust valve on my kx125 snapped and hit my piston. I have ordered everything I need to fix the bike, minus the main exhaust valve. Part number is 12005-1173. I have uploaded the pic with the part circled. The problem is, this part is no longer made and no one seems to have it. I have searched and searched for ideas, called a few local shops, machine shops, salvage bike yards, all no luck. I am getting worried that I may not be able to fix it now. Well, without spending an arm and a leg to do it. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advance.
  17. Hello all, I currently live in Phoenix Arizona and I am having problems with my 2006 KX450F backfire. Its rides perfectly fine and has all the power in the world, does not lack on the responsive side at all. But whenever I engine break I pop A LOT. "Poppopopopopopopopopop" and its whenever I am slowing down after either going fast or slow. I want to know how to stop that, I understand that some popping is okay, but its a lot, spits fire sometimes after going fast. I am not sure what current jets I have in the bike, because the previous owner did not know, but I am thinking of going to a 180 main jet, 42 pilot, 55 leak jet (from 70 stock), throttle clip position 4th from the top, and 2 turns out on the fuel screw. I have heard a lot of people changing the leak jet from 70 to 55 helps a lot overall. I am not sure on what to use for the elevation wise on the jets. I have tried to lean and richen the fuel screw before but nothing has happened. Any suggestions of what I should do? Just thinking of getting JD Jetting kit and going from there.
  18. I bought a 1985 KX125 for a $100. It’s in pieces but it’s all there. One thing I ran into is this cylinder. It’s scored on the inside. I think the top end blew up on this that’s why it’s apart. Wanna see what you guys think. Is it ok to where I can hone it out myself or should I send it out, I know a local place. My friend works on bikes a lot and he says it’s not too bad I could do either or. I’ve done a few cylinders so far so I know about the cross hatching and stuff. Spec size is 56.00mm
  19. What's up TT not sure how this really works so this is just a test.I got a bike finally after a few years and it deff needs some maintenance if anybody can help me out first thing I was wondering about is the last time I rode it it seemed to smoke a lot when I was warmin it up like maybe a little more than a little idk.could my mixture be off??
  20. So my bike is running good, but I think it should have a little more snap to it. I think its running slightly rich because my spark plug is light black with some oil build up, and when I first start it up and take off its really sputtery and hesitant untill I clear it out and then it feels good. So I was wondering if I could lean it out one clip position?? Would that be safe or should I leave it running slightly rich??? Thanks for any help!!!
  21. Of all the extensive mods we have discussed here, engine swapping into XR or from XR etc., what about a Mini Moto? Will our engine fit? I'm talking about a CR, KX, YZ, SX or RM 80, 85, 100 or even a CRF150R chassis. We seem to be drawn to their forks, but what about the whole enchilada? I do realize even the RB or Expert Big Wheel models don't use the preferred 21/18 combo our 230F does but that could be addressed.
  22. Hi need help stiffening the rear shock I want to raise the bike as it sits too low for me, Im 85kg what setting should I do like how many clicks thanks
  23. HI, I HAVE A 94' KDX200. MOTOR HAS PROBLEMS - WHAT ENGINE FITS INTO THE FRAME ? OR WHAT MODS ARE NEEDED TO DO SO
  24. My kx 85 won't idle I've cleaned out the carb many times I've even changed the pilot jet to a bigger size and I've also changed the reeds and it still won't idle and I turn the idle screw all the way in and it doesn't change anything but when I ride the bike it runs perfect it but it just won't idle any suggestions on why this is? Any help would be appreciated
  25. My friend recently got his chain adjuster bolt that threads into the swingarm stuck because the previous owner put loctite or something on it and the bolt broke and is almost but not completely flush with the swingarm. he tried drilling it out and it didn't work, tried an easy out and the easy broke and is stuck inside the bolt now. Any tips to avoid buying a whole new swingarm?
