  1. Hi all, Have a problem here that I need sorted by tomorrow night. Let me just say that the bike (2010 kx250f) was running like a dream (well, maybe a little lean) before any of this happened. Recently the throttle cable snapped which prompted me to replace it, no biggie. I had been running without a hotstart since I had bought the bike last year so I decided to replace it along side the throttle repair. The bike came with no lever for the hotstart and I presumed that the cable was snapped (which it was). I bought a replacement cable and lever, no hassle. I pulled the tank off the bike to access the carb to replace the cable. I unscrewed the plastic screw that sits over the hotstart. There was no little brass cylinder (not sure if this is the plunger) or spring on the end of the cable or in this screw. There was no point in replacing the cable since I hadn't got the brass cylinder or spring so I left it while i fixed the throttle cables. I have now seemingly lost the black plastic screw leaving a little nipple like rubbery thing sticking out of hotstart port in the carb. I am presuming that this is the plunger which should be pushed into itself rather than sticking out. I didn't think of it as much of an issue at the time, but now with the bike back together, the carb is pissing out fuel, from what I think is the float overflow tube, every time I turn the fuel flow valve to open. I can now not get the bike started.. The only reason I can think of this happening is because the little rubber nipple is sticking out of the carb. Can anyone confirm this or have any quick fixes that I can use? I cannot for the life of me find the plastic screw and will not be able to get one by Sunday Below on the right, is a picture of the black plastic screw I was talking about.

    yz 250 street legal,conversion

Hi guys i have some questions and would appreciate any help you guys may have. I have a 1998 yz 250 ive had for a few years thats been in the famliy for awile. I am doing a ground up redo on it this winter. Im geting a used frame because the one i have dosent have a title so i figured wile im at it ill get a 1998/1997 wr 250 frame so i can make it street legal. I know the 98 wr 250 wasent introduced in the us but the 97 was and the yz 250 is the same bike from 96 to 98. So my question is are the wr 250s the same ? Could i find a 97 wr250 frame and swap everything from my 98 yz 250 to it ? I wont realy ride it on the street much considering its not the best bike for commuting (by far) lol, but i figure if im geting another frame with a title miswell be able to throw my street tires on it and rip some twistes with it if i want to. Thanks for any help.
  3. So i have a 2009 kx450f with efi and I'm trying to hook up lights and turn signals and all of that good stuff to make it street legal. I know I need to tap into the bikes power supply to power all of this but I don't know where that would be. Should I go through the cdi or the efi and if so where would that be.

    Kxf shock swap to KX

Hello everyone I'm very happy with my 99' Kx250 with a few improvements (Vforce, SSS forks, kxf brakes, etc) but now it's time to revalve the suspension. The shock of my bike is leaking and probably never in at least 14 years (last revalve) have a shock maintenance, so I ask to the Kx guru's if it's possible to swap an Kxf shock, considering a lot of years of improvements in suspension tech. It's worth pay for the kxf shock plus revalve for the kx? Or just repair (because I dont know the internal condition) and revalve the stock shock? Thanks for reading. Regards
  7. My rm125 leaks gas when sitting there on the stand with gas off. I've tried cleaning carb to make sure no dirt or anything! Please help! Also my kickstarter is tight when pulling out?
  8. Going to buy either a 2004 kx250f or 2004 yz250f. Just looking to get some opinions. They are each going for $2100 (Canadian). Only reason I am skeptical on kx250f is 2004 was its first year of production. I don't race competitivly but I do ride the track and trails weekly with buddys. Thoughts?
  9. Hi all, Im a little bit smaller of a rider about 5`2 or 5`3 110 pounds. I feel ive outgrown my crf150rb and am looking to go to a a 250 next spring. Whats the slimmest/smallest 250f out there. Ive almost entirely ruled out a Yamaha because i went to a dealer to look at them and they feel and look so much bigger than all the other 250s. Kawasaki seems like its a smaller slimmer skinnier bike but the Suzuki doesn't look bad either. Ktms seem huge to me and really haven't looked at hondas yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    2007 KXF250 Won't Start After Shimming

Hi There! If you're viewing this then you're either stuck in the same position as me, or you're handing down your well appreciated knowledge! First of all, I'm new to ThumperTalk, what a cool forum this is! But let's get to it; Kawasaki KXF250 2007... History: I bought this bike in January, it was a bit tatty, but I saw it as a brilliant bike to finally get into Motocross full time, rather than just messing around on friends bikes. So my Suzuki Intruder was sold & I went off to purchase it. Whilst out of action with a dislocating shoulder operation, I decided to pull the bike to bits and fix all the issues it's had. Now I'm a Maintenance Engineer, so as you can guess lack of maintenance can really bug me. So the whole bike has had a full strip down. I came to check the valve clearances & they were all out of tolerance, which explained why you'd struggle to start it & it wouldn't idle brilliantly. So the engine came out, I adjusted the valves via shims, which brought them all back into tolerance; along with an oil leak I cured. I was feeling pretty stoked by this point! So the engine went back in, the carb had a full strip down & clean, which was filthy, but now it looks like the inside of a watch. Diaphragm checked for any rips & tears, or pin pricks. All got loaded back into the bike for the first start. I turned the engine over by hand first to make sure I wasn't about to smash the valves into the piston. All good. Primed with fresh fuel, I tried to kick it over. Nothing. Second kick it backfired. From that point onwards it's not tried to even start. Ive checked all the usual suspects, good spark no leakage, it has fuel, carb seems all okay & doing its job. Timing is dead on, confirmed TDC by sticking screwdriver down cylinder & rocking the crank. All earths are spot on too. Now im seriously puzzled, it has everything it needs to fire, but it's not even trying. Any advice, help & ideas would be brilliant so don't hesitate to fire anything across! Cheers guys, Nick.

    Kx250f vs yz250f?!

I was wondering which bike is better. I have heard many things about both bikes, good and bad. I will be using it for track and trails.

    06-08 kx450f

Is there much difference with the 06 kx450f and the 08 kx450f? Also will a 06 cylinder head bolt on to a 08 bottom end and run?

    Fork break in?

Just replaced my entire suspension and the forks are very stiff even when loosened all the way. I was wondering if the forks just needed to be ridden on to break them in.

    I need advice and help

My dad grew up riding three wheelers and quads but no bikes, he fixes and rides quads and Atcs daily and my mom rode a moped but that’s all of their experience. My parents act like even the smallest trail bike is a death machine. I have ridden a atc350x (dads) and a kxf250 (friends) as the most “dangerous” machines I have ever ridden. I don’t understand and I talk to them about it to death. I even see an xr100r for $350 that was $600 on Craigslist right now that I can afford. I ride a 300ex daily and have ridden all my life. I just want a dirt bike for a chance and I can’t even get my parents to budge on a ttr125 or crf150. I’m 15 and I think it’s time I’m alowed but they don’t. I know I can ride good because I have ridden many bikes and have had my fair share of crashes.
