  1. Hi guys, I’ve got a 2005 kxf250 here and Im concerned about how oil is fed from the bottom end to the top end ... anyway I bought it blown up... I’ve had to buy new bottom end casings, new cylinder head new valves all that lot.. but once it was put back together and oil was put in, I went to re time the bike and noticed there was no oil by the magneto hole, I took the side cover off to inspect whether oil was actually in this side casing where the conrod and big end bearings sit and there’s nothing? But normally oil is fed through the timing chain to the top end isn’t it? you can clearly see by the sight glass there is the right amount of oil inside there (not to mention I measured the amount of oil I put in anyway) I’m just wondering if there’s another oil top up point I’m struggling to find or is this just how the bike is? Because there is two oil drain hole plugs so it’s just a thought, any advice will be appreciated!!
  2. I start my motocross challenge with 2011 YZ450F . although i had many years experience with heavy cubic MC , from the first start i underestand it have so much power . and the first try MX track was scary and i decide to sell it . but as i am a stubborn person , i keep pushing and learning whit this bike . + mapping it as soft as possible and now i am getting better . last weekend i tried a rmz250 and was amazed how well i can drive it, but i didnt like it there was no power in it . now i need help : my friend suggest me to change to a 250 2 stroke : so how dose it feel to change from 450 4t to 250 2 stroke !? it is getting even harder !? or should i just not give up and keep pushing and learning with a 450 !? or maybe i just go to 20 4 stroke !?
  3. Hi I've got myself a KXF250 2017 that I'm looking to change the gearing on, currently running 13/50 and the bikes got a huge hit of power off the bottom end and I'm looking to smooth out the power so I don't get that big hit all at once. I've been doing a bit of research and I'm thinking of dropping to a 48 rear, with only going down 2 teeth will this really make that much of a difference? I've also been toying with 14/48 to really try and smooth it out, what's people take on this? Long winded one but all advice is appreciated just can't seem to find answers to these questions anywhere Thanks
  4. Crank case coming out of Crank case breather of my kx250f...normal or not...after 4 rides top up half court
  5. Hi guys 👋🏻 I’m looking for some help! I’m rebuilding my 2008 KXF 250 and I’m struggling to find a complete new head for it. I have done everything else. Do the heads on any other years or models fit into mine? Any help is appreciated 🙂
  6. I’ve recently rebuilt a 2008 kxf250 it’s be a bit of an after work project that become a can of worms! After a long time coming it’s rideable but have now found my valve shims are wrong so back to the shed it goes. I need someone who knows there stuff “I’m a builder no mechanic” but I get there slowly keeps me busy. I’ve found my exhaust clearances to be .20 and .15 to my understanding they are meant to be .17 to .22 and my intake valves are .10 and they other one cannot fit a feeler gauge under they are meant to be between .10 and .15 can someone please explain to me how I go about sorting these little buggers out ! Also it may be possible the buckets got mixed up is it likely the buckets are different sizes i understand the shims are “would explain why it’s a bugger to get started” happy riding
  7. 2004 kxf250 was riding back to the car on popped back tier as soon as i got to the car the bike stalled, would not start afterwards. tried to kick it over and it backfires, so i checked the timing an that was out so i fixed that an put a set of new rings in and also cleaned the carby, now the bike fires and will not keep running just dies straight away, what could the problem be?

  9. I have a 05 kxf 250 with a full engine rebuild and about 6 hours ride time on it and the past month I haven’t been out on it but every weekend I start it up and it seems to leak oil everywhere and I’m not sure why? It is a dirt bike and has no side stand. Any tips or help? Also the oil smells like it has some petrol in it
  10. Hey everyone so I’ll keep it short and sweet. just need to know if I can put a rear caliper assembly from a 2004 kxf on my ‘03 kx. I feel like it should fit but better safe than sorry. thanks!!
  11. Hi all, I recently brought a project bike it’s a 2008 kxf250 that had blown after stripping it down I found it had put the con road through the internet housing so no there is a hole between the transmission and crank shaft compartment! How ever is it possible to still use with oil being able to get between compartment stop the bike from working
  12. Hey fellow dirtbike heads, Im a beginner rider who quite recently bought a KX 250F 2009 in what appears to be great condition. The bikes got 2 previous owners which atleast the one I bought from seemed to keep the bike very well maintained with proper services in correct intervals and kept documentation. The bikes gone about 150hours with a hour meter. At 100hours the last owner repaired and or replaced the following - crankset, top end, valves, piston, front suspension, carburetor, swingarm bearings, linkage bearings, timing chain and ofcourse some other general wear maintenence. (I expect the pistons been changed before during its lifetime, not 100% sure though.) Oil, oil filter and airfilters are ofcourse changed as they should be. (Clean airfilter every ride, oil 5hrs oil filter 10hrs) with common sense included, sometimes more often.) So my question - how many hours can one except out of a dirtbike like this? And ofcourse I know this varies hugely depending on whos been riding the bike, how well maintained etc. But in general, a well taken care of bike, driven by amateurs/beginners on MX track. Never been properly raced. Are we talking 250hours, 300, 350, 400... Yeah you get it. I know your answers could never be accurate but I just wanna get a slight understanding of the general lifespawn of these motors if maintenced properly. Also, if you can think of anything else I as a beginner should think of maintence wise with a bike of this age and hour lifespawn, please feel free to give me some tips. Im not a pro either on track or in the garage, but I got a passion and I want to learn. I'll post some eye candy pictures of the bike for ya'll aswell. Thanks in advance, kind regards from sweden.
  13. So i'm new to the dirt bike scene i used to ride quad but wanted a change so i bought a broken kx250f with low compression and it would only bump start. i re shimmed the valves a while ago and just lapped the valves now i'm putting it back together and i notice my cam chain guild is hitting my exhaust cam is this a problem or is it normal below are two pictures of it the first i'm pushing on the cam so it sits in place the second i'm not.

  15. Hi guys, I’ve recently bought a kxf 250 05 model which needs a new cylinder head, I’m wondering if anyone knows what year head will fit from either rmz or kxf themselves, is it just 04-05 models that work or are they interchangeable? Thanks
  16. Hi, First of all iam from Germany so be aware of grammar mistakes ^^ sadly no one in a german forum could solve my problem. i bought a 2006 kx250f and rebuilt it but because it wasnt running. i put in a new piston and cylinder, put in new shims and changed the camchain. i also tested the valves and they seal quiet well so compression is in spec. carburetor was completely rebuilt (jetted as it says in service manual) accelerator pump is adjusted. also the bike had no cdi box so i bought one of a 2005 kxf250 now my problem: the bike dies when i rev it. it revs to about 1/4 throttle i tried almost everything, new stator, wiring harness, sparkplug, ignition coil, crankshaft position sensor even the cdi box all ohm readings are in spec, i tested them with a multimeter here is the thing: i thougt it was the cdi box because it is from an older model but with a newer one from 2006 and one off a 2008 model it wont even start(no spark) i hope someone has suggestions on what is wrong with my bike thanks in advance philipp 🙂
  17. Hi I’ve got a kxf250 2005 and I’ve been having trouble with it recently , first when I bought it a month or so ago it was fine for 1 hour or 2 and then it felt like it’s lost a lot of power but recently had piston kit , then It gave up the ghost and now you can’t start it by kicking it , you have to bump start it otherwise it won’t go and it takes 3-4 times to start , when you get it to run it will only run just below full throttle and it splutters and jolts and any less more throttle it will just bog down and die, I’ve checked the timing and it seems all good , rebuilt the carb with all new jets and o rings etc can anyone suggest anything and has anyone had this problems , if you could help me out it would be much appreciated thanks
  18. I am in the middle of a fork swap, the bike is an 04 kdx 200 and new forks are off a 2006 kxf 250. To maintain the geometry i am lowering the kx forks 1"by installing spacers and will also add new spring perch grooves offset 1" from existing to prevent increasing pre-load. I am also replacing the existing .46 springs with new .42 springs.(single track, 39 year old, B/C rider). I have pulled apart the forks and this is the existing Compression(base) valve shim stack: 30x.10(12) 22x.15 30x.10 29x.10 28x.10 27x.10 26x.10 25x.10 24x.10 23x.10 22x.10 21x.10 21x.10 20x.10 19x.30 19x.30 19x.30 19x.30 22x.30 My plan is to remove 6 of the 30x.10 Lo-Speed shims from the Compression(base) valve shim stack. I will leave the rebound stack alone. But I defiantly open to suggestions or opinions. I am doing this to improve the handling of the bike but also as a chance to learn about suspension so feel free to lecture/rant/ridicule at will.
  19. I recently rebuilt a 2008 kxf250 over a long period, the bike ran fine was a bit hard to start and couldn’t work out the problem, after cleaning the carb spotless and putting it back together was a little better but wouldn’t run for long. Then it slipped it’s time chain and died after examining the bike again I found the rings spacing weren’t properly split around the piston. Thinking it may have hydrauliced? I took the head off, honed it new rings on, put it back together, the timing is perfect the shims are bang on but I still can not get it to start. It will kick over fine and back fire or run for a second then die! It’s driving me crazy, does the engine need to come back out? Or is it as easy as a new spark plug ? The plug seems fine and still has spark !!! Someone please help!!!!
