Okay so I just upgraded my taillight to an Edge 2 with the 120clock labs processor board for signals and I've been rocking an upgraded led hi/low bulb in my stock housing for a couple years now and I'd like to upgrade. I searched on here and found 50 different options all with varying success. I was thinking that we might be able to compile all of the options and accessories needed for install all in to one place. Maybe even if we could link them all from here that would be a start. I'm going to do a few that I found and anyone else that has upgraded and posted about it please post up and let us know the positives and negatives.   2. Looking for info on an H4 LED bulb replacement. I'm not looking to use the 4x6 headlights many have used. I'll be doing the KLX450 headlight/fairing mod. Looks like eBay has a bunch of options, but to use with stock DRZ wiring what wattage/specs am I looking for? Anyone had success/nightmares?   3. Gday all Supermofoolz, I'm a new guy. First post. I'm in New Zealand and I've had my black 2009 DRZ400sm for 4 years now, it's been my daily ride/commuter hack all that time, all seasons. I love it. My mods over the years: 3x3, stage 1 jet kit, FMF Powerbomb full system, braided brake hoses front and back, Michelin Pilot Power tyres 120/17 and 150/17, dropped the forks 12mm, Acerbis Cyclope headlight unit, Acerbis front fender, brush guards and tail unit, Renthal sticky grips, pillion pegs eliminated, underslung convex mirrors, black crash bobbins, tail tidy fender eliminator with LED tail/stop light and now, LED indicators with a TST Industries relay. I went to add the new front LED blinkers to it, and expected to find something (ideally) like a 10mm mounting hole behind the old indicators, only to be faced with a massive rebate through the oe mounting bracket. Image below for those unfamiliar. I believe the DRZ400e has the same oe brackets. So, my shiny new aftermarket LED indicators have a 10mm thread. The rebate in the oe mount is 16mm in diameter. Dammit. Off to the interwebs I went, looking for an adapter, perhaps on FleaBay (nope) or maybe a shiny-shiny go-faster store has something - SRMoto has brackets they'll sell you for USD9.99, but you have to spend 40 minimum and then postage from OH to NZ is twice that so &%$#@! it. Improvise, adapt and overcome! I had an idea about 3D printing adapters, so I drew a sketchy AF sketch and planted the seed... TBC

Hey guys I have a trail tech x2 on my 2009 drz400sm and I love the look ok it but the output at night isn't the best I had a word to trail tech about replacing the bulbs and they said the bottom light is a h3 bulb so that's no worries to change but the problem is the top bulb is a MR16 halogen which was made in house by them just wondering if anyone else has wired up a brighter bulb if so help would be much apreciated I wanted to put the white led bulbs in cheers guys 🖤
  5. I got a 50watt lighting coil for my 2000 Cr250. Can I run an 18w led light bar and integrated led blinkers/taillight/brake light without a battery? I understand I have to convert the AC to DC with a regulator/rectifier but can I do this without a battery? Also what reg/rectifier should I get?
  6. So I have been wanting do to this build for a long time. Now that I have some time on my hands and the resources I need, I am going to give it a go. I am building a frame-mounted mini rally fairing. The components will all be 3D printed for the first iteration and I later plan to laser cut a stronger version and provide flat DXF files for laser cut metal versions. I will attach pictures as I design the mounting and as soon as I finish my prototype, I will release files so anyone else can make one too. I am not sure how I am going to create the fairing itself, I do have some fiberglass experience so I will most likely try that. My prototype will be installed on a 1983 XR350R I am rebuilding and I will also install one on my '85 XR600R and I may possibly make one for my '07 YZ250F as well, so the mounting will be designed to fit multiple makes and models. The fairing will house two LED light pods and have a mount for a standard sized cell phone. I may make other mountings for the fairing like a single light version or secondary mounts for trail computers etc. I plan to design it to be completely modular. The first iterations will all be installed with large zip-ties for easier modification. Later iterations will be either hard mounted (welded tabs) or bolted. Anyone who has attempted this before any advice would be appreciated. First prototype I am printing pictured below:
  7. I just picked up a new 18 Xtrainer and I must say, I'm Xcited for spring. I drove it home through yesterday's east coast snow storm. While waiting on the certificate of origin from the dealer, I'm going to be working on installing turn signals to get it street legal here in VA I have a set of 12v LED strips that I think I want to mount on the hand guards. I originally bought them to use a turn signals, but I think I want to use them as running lights. After looking at the wiring diagram, I think the best option for getting power would be the parking lamp in the headlight. Does anyone have any better suggestions?
  8. First off Just want to say I am new to the forum and this is my first write up, so we will see how this goes. After owning my DRZ for a short while I found that the stock headlight was lacking, and decided to do something about it. There are plenty of companies out there that sell led lights like baja designs, or trail tech, but they are quite expensive. Another alternative was to buy just a hid, or led bulb to replace the stock one, but I wanted to try do something different so I decided to make my own set up. Started out by removing the stock headlight and mounts, then taking piece of 2" schedule 40 pipe cutting it in half and building off of that. Once I had the pieces of pipe secured to the forks with hose clamps, I used 1/2 steel rod and bent it around an old bearing race to create the hoop that would houses the lights. After that used some more 1/2 rod to fix it in relation to the forks. Once I had everything tacked where i wanted it, removed from the bike and fully welded it. After finishing that up, put it back on the bike the next day, to add a spot for the lights to mount, made it out of cardboard first to check the fit then cut the metal out. Then tacked it, removed it, and welded it up. Test fitted the lights and drilled the holes for them. Got the lights off of amazon, the two cube lights are 20 watts each in a spot beam configuration, and the bar on the bottom is a 30 watt flood beam. The cubes were $50 for both and they seem like good quality, and the bar was $30. They will definitely be an improvement the over stock light. Had to make a harness to connect all of them, and I wanted to have it so that when the high beam was turned on the low beam remained on as well. Ended up using a diode to prevent backfeeding of the high beam circuit while the low beam was on. After making sure the lights all worked like I wanted them to, took the mount to work sandblasted it and put some paint and primer on it. And began to work on the front cover. Decided to make it out of fiberglass, then cut out holes for the lights. Cut out a piece of cardboard first to see what id need before I cut out the fiberglass. After cutting out the circular part, mounted it up with the lights in and traced them to get an outline of where I would need to cut (I forgot to get pictures of this but feel its pretty straight through). Threw some paint on the fiberglass cover, and mounted it all up on the bike. Been raining like crazy lately and haven't had the chance to get some decent pictures of how bright it is, to go with the before pictures with the stock headlights. Im sure it will have some improvements yet to come like making a cover over the back of the lights but for now pretty satisfied with how bright it is, and how it looks.
  9. I used the tusk brand flasher relay, flush mount rears and the hand guard signals and I'm getting a 4 way flash when I turn my signals on. I removed the indicator bulb and even tried reversing the relay to see if that was the issue. No dice! Any help is much appreciated my buddy just bought his 501 and is itching to get out this weekend. I spliced the OEM plug to the led signal wire to keep things clean. But I don't think that could be the issue.

Hey guys I just installed drc fender eliminator and 601 turn signals and other than the fast flashing everything works right, when I go to do the front ones the lights won't blink if I attach the oem turn signals at the same time as the leds they flash just fine. Came to the conclusion that the leds in the front don't pull enough power to blink on there own. What can I do to fix this I don't mind the fast rate flashing I just need them to come on. Currently all four leds wired in and no flashing.

  12. So I have a 2008 yz450f and I would like to add some LED lights to it to make it street legal. Mainly just a headlight and a tail light and turn signals if I need to (which where I live hand signals work). So where I need help is getting power from the stator to a battery. Wiring from a battery to anything else I got and understand and don't need help with (but recommendations are welcome). So my questions are. What type of power is coming from the stator. AC or DC? Will I need a regulator or rectifier? How do I wire something from the stator to charge a battery? What would that wiring look like? Would this stator http://www.rickystator.com/product/stators/yamaha/yamaha-yz450f-35-watt-lighting-stator-assembly-06-09 work? Anything else I should know? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
  13. So I bought a Baja Designs Squadron Pro and want to install it. It has a 12v Adapter on the end of it(pic 1) and comes in a headlight holder/cowling (pic 2 below), and the lamp itself is installed in the cowling on a screw in plate (pic 3 closeup). The factory DRZ headlamp has a turn signal relay in it and that is attached by a small metal tab in the lamp housing of the factory headlight. I can find no videos or detailed post, or god forbid documentation from Baja Designs on how to do this on a DRZ. The dimmer switch does have decent documentation, Here is what it appears they want you to do? Let me know if you agree: 1) pull the old flasher plug and relay off the old light 2) remove the old light 3) cut off the old cabling (a dark yellow wire, light yellow wire, black/white and a white) 4) wrap the flasher plug and relay in some kind of waterproofing 5) It does come with an adapter that gets you from the adapter shown below to raw wiring. 6) Presumably your supposed to take a multimeter and locate a 12v supply line? Any ideas what would be the best answer for that source? 7) I have the dimmer kit and the kit (from Skene) has good doc. But I want to try it without the dimmer first.
  14. I’m thinking of picking up a curved light bar for my xp 4 1000. I am having a hard time justifying the cost of some of them out there. I have a friend that has had good luck with this one: “$52 Light bar” and being that it is 10-15 times cheaper than a r-industries like this one: “$899 Light bar”. I am leaning more towards the $52 one. Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with the cheaper lights out there? I just don’t want my wife to divorce me over a $900 light... lol Thanks in advance for the feedback.

So here is a interesting question, I have the 2016 YZ250x, I am planning on going up to Goldendale Washington for the 25 hours of Starvation Ridge as I haven't done that race since I was in Middle School and I have been bragging about it to my buddies who also want to do it. Now here's the question, I'm on a budget, aka i'm broke and I'm trying not to spend a ton of coin to get a good ridge. I found a bunch of LED lights and LED bar on Amazon and a buddy of mine runs them on his WR. But since (at least to my knowledge) I don't have a stator on the bike. So does anyone know of a cheap stator, or know of good wiring so I could possible run a external batteries for these lights? Thanks in a advance guys!
  16. Looking for help from anyone whose installed the BD squadron pro. Got my dual sport dimmer in, and after getting that working (non-Baja Designs issue, just my wiring harness being wired wrong). But the issue I’m running into now is that whether in low or high, the high beam indicator stays on on the dash. I’m assuming I need to wire some sort of diode in on the low beam circuit of the dimmer? Figured I’d check here and see what y’all thought, maybe I’m looking at it wrong. The other issue I’m having is that on low beam the light has this whining sound. Is that normal for a dimmed LED? I’ve heard of LEDs buzzing, but not whining.

  18. Hey Guys, New to the forum! I purchased my Yamaha WR250f about 7 years ago. I have always hated the stock halogen light. It doesn't put out any light and is super dangerous to ride at night. I recently decided to design and build a custom LED headlight for my bike. It took me awhile to do research but I finally got everything installed and working. I purchased the LED Aux light from Superbrightleds.com. They have very high quality lights for the cost. I created a youtube video going over the build and performance of the light. I wanted to post this so others could get ideas for a similar build. Let me know if anyone has any questions. I'd be happy to give guidance if someone is wanting to do this on their bike. -Jason
  19. I am new to tt and was doing allot of research to see if anyone has tried to put the dual sport lighting kit tail light on a Drzs or sm. All I could find was people doing it on the e model. Well I had a acerbis fender eliminator on my drz400s that I bought used and the tail lamp only light up half way. I had a old enduro kit sitting in my garage the only thing I had to do was switch the plug on the kit with the one from the harness “fit female to female before” and trim the plastic a little so it would sit flush on the frame. It works great and IMO is way brighter than the one I previously had. Only downside is I live in Texas and you need a white license plate light and it only comes on when I hit my brake but is barley noticeable because the red over powers it anyways. Just wanted to put this up to help others as tt has been my bible in the past. Hope this comes in handy for someone. Kit is super cheap and the light is pretty bright.
  20. Hey All, Let me know what you think... I'm slowly getting this project rolling. I'm in beta stages of the 1st PCB design (already designing rev. 2), but I've been developing it for about 1 year now (on and off), but stuff really picked up in the last month. Right now it's designed for the DRZ400, but I plan on making many color maps for other engine specs as well. I install 3 beta PCB tachs into my buddies' BBK DRZ's this weekend.. so I might have an install video and pics.... plus some hoonage as well... It's designed around the AtTiny85 and WS2811 LED driver (NeoPixels on adafruit.com) Though I'll be building the LED bar myself so I can incorporate a nice large filter cap and data resistor. Features: -"Fancy" power-on animations and knight rider wipe effect (still working on perfecting the animations) -Only 3 wires to install (VCC, GND and spark sensor) (also its a direct sensor, not inductance or capacitance... so, very accurate and easy to install) -Auto brightness (day/night mode) -IdlesSet mode (changes bar mapping to 1K RPM - 2K RPM so you can set idle) -LED Color map based on DRZ400's dyno curves (Green is peak TQ, Yellow is crossover, and Red is peak HP, flashing is 1K RPM shift warning and limiter) -LED anti-aliasing on leading edge of bar (LED's fade in smoothly... purdy) -NO-RPM warning indicator( blinking yellow) Future Features: -3A USB port (for charging phones, etc. But, I'm not sure about the cost effectiveness of this and it increases the complexity of the install since it should be direct-battery and fused) (it's just something I'm designing into the next PCB rev.)   21. so I've been wanting a headlight for my SXF250 for a while and a few months ago I found one made by acerbis that I fell in love with. it's called the acerbis VSL LED headlight. for Christmas I got a 200$ Visa gift card to buy the headlight, but as I was going through the website I noticed it says that it's only for 2017-2020 Husqvarna and KTM models.. my question is do you guys think it would fit anyway? there can't be that much difference in how it fits between 15 & 17.. but even if I have to do slight modifications I'm ok with that I just don't want to spend $200 on a headlight and not be able install or use it at all..
