  1. We have a 2016 CRF450R with about 11 hours out. never ridden hard always check the oil and change when needed along with the air filter. Took care of the recall that was required as well. Well when riding the bike was stalled out. Went to try and kick start the bike again. the kick start lever just back up jamming my knee into the handle bars and some how ended up cracking the case right by where the kick start goes through the case. Has any one had this happen or heard of this happening? What is the cause?
  2. 2011 yz450f just bought it from a one owner, took it to the track and rode fine, killed it to take a break went back and kicked it several times and it locked up, I couldn’t kick it, so I put new piston/rings new timing chain, when to start it and same thing.. I didn’t split the case, because the crank seemed fine and would turn over with out the top end on.. what could it be? The guy helping me was a dirt bike/sidebyside/atv mechanic for years and it stumped him. Thoughts??
  3. Hello there, I have an issue with a new to me 2001 Honda Cr250r. I got the bike a few weeks ago all torn apart. I put the whole bottom end and top end together, referred to every engine schematic and followed my Clymer manual. And so my first issue is when I kick the bike over it seems like once nearing the footpeg the engine or something feels like it maybe getting stuck, and after that hard spot it extends fully down. However when I push the Kickstarter down with my hand it seems totally normal. Now I have two guesses on this. Either the bike has a lot of compression, and once the kicker is in that hard spot, that's basically when the bike has full compression. Or my other guess is that something is binding. I took the right crank cover off three times and looked at the Kickstarter. Yes the kicker is assembled correctly, the two dots on the spline and gear line up, the spring is oriented correctly and in the hole. Now my other issue is that when I lean the bike over on its right side slightly, the whole engine locks up and I can't spin the flywheel or Kickstart the bike. Only way to get the motor free again is to tip it to the left. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know as I have no idea what's the problem. Thanks. *engine locking up when tipped over happened even before I put the top end back together. So I doubt it's anything with the top end.
  4. Hey y'all, I have a 2007 CRF250r that locked up on me. 3 weeks ago I flew off of her and broke my leg (the bike just has it out for me doesn't it?). My friend rode the bike twice and it ran fine. I put a new plug in it and turned it over/kicked it with my hand and it cycled fine (it had been hard to start and the old plug was incredibly fouled and one year old). I had my friend try and kick it and after two slow compression kicks, the kicker locked up. Also the bike locked up at tdc. The bike ran fine the last time it was out as well. The bike won't roll forward, even in 4th was the highest we tried. The kicker is of course locked up but the bike will roll backwards in gear. I took off the valve cover and I could "wiggle" the cam, on the unicam crfs you can kinda turn the cam back and forth a little before the chain stops it. My oil filter had no brass/copper shavings in it; maybe one extremely tiny one. Oil looked amazing when drained and no shavings in the oil itself. I pulled the right crank cover and I can't find any broken gearteeth; still waiting on a clutch hub holder tool to see behind the basket though. I'm lost at what's causing this? I don't believe I toasted the bottom end and I always kept up on oil changes and keeping oil in there? However the first time it was rode after the crash I didn't know, by a friend who doesn't like to check oil. I'm sure oil was in there I'm just not sure if there was enough, but this is the only reason I am worried it could be a toasted bottom end, but there are no copper shavings in filter, even after being rode twice. Has anyone ever had any lockups happen because of anything on the right side of the engine? Maybe the kicker and the idle gear and the clutch basket gear and how they al mesh? It also clicks through the gears fine (won't roll, will click though). Thanks

Ok so my brother got this bike a few days ago from a buddy not to many hours he wrecked it the first 30 mins (nothing was broken on the bike and it started up and ran fine) so I ride it today with a buddy and we cruised around for about 2 hours we switched bikes on the way home and stopped to talk to each other and when he went to go fire the bike back up it kicked one fired up I thought it sounded weird then died or something and when he went to kick it again it was locked up I've pulled the valve cover and the clutch case cover and nothing it hung up on anything so I'm just confused Also there it no metal in the oil or oil filter I'm just so confused
