  1. Does anyone know how to remove the rear brake “piston/plunger” that drives the movement of fluid in the master cylinder? Trying to replace mine as the seals are bad but for the life of me I cannot get it out. It is not threaded, there is no c-clip, it won’t fall out the bottom no matter how much I tap the sides, and I’ve even tried blowing compressed air down into the small hole at the bottom of the cylinder to see if it would blow out and it still wouldn’t budge. It will slide up just like it’s supposed to but will not come out the bottom for removal. Anyone have any tips on how I can remove this? Bike is a 2014 KTM 350 XC-F Thanks in advance!!! Hello from Washington! i've been trying like crazy to get my '96 xr400 ride worthy again and the last thing i gotta fix is the front brakes. i got a master cylinder rebuild kit and got it installed and even got some fluid coming from the caliper bleeder but it seems kinda slow? brakes still don't work. i'm wondering how much fluid should i expect to come from the bleeder when i grab the brake lever? it took about 5 minutes for anything to come out, is that normal? or should it be shooting out with some force? i'm trying to figure out if my MC is toast or it i should start tearing into the caliper. also, before it gets said i do have a clymer manual.
  3. Any one know of a uk supplier for a seal kit for the front brake master cylinder of a 1988 B4 klr 600? They changed the design/supplier after 1991 from Tokico to someone else. All I can find is the seal kit for the later version, even though suppliers are saying it is for the B4 it is not the same. The earlier one has a smaller piston and seals and is held in with a plastic clip instead of a circlip. I attach a photo of my piston and seals and what is was supplied as a B4 kit that doesn’t fit and a photo from the Kawasaki web page for the B4 brake. thanks Rob
  4. Hello. I searched and searched for info on what this could possibly be however I could not seem to find anything. I recently rebuild both my master cylinder and break caliper on my 2005 crf250r due to the breaks being very spongy and not grabbing. I bled the breaks properly multiple times both reverse bleeding and actual bleeding the “normal” way until enough pressure was built up which didn’t take to long. The issue I’m having is when I slowly push my break lever in it seems as if all the pressure goes away especially if I feather it without fully releasing the break out. It will rebuild pressure after a good flick or two. Any ideas of what it could be? I’m at a loss for words.

I recently somehow broke the master cylinder to one of my 110 cc pit bikes, and because I don’t ride the other I thought that I would be able to just unscrew the hose from the cylinders on each bike and swap them. However, after I fastened the working cylinder to the bike I wanted, it wouldn’t work(it felt like there was just no resistance on the pedal except for the spring). So I looked through the brake fluid window to find it was practically all grey. My synopsis is that the fluid needs to be replaced, but even when I tried that( **It is very likely I didn’t bleed it correctly because very little fluid came out**), it still would not work. Could it just be the fluid needs replacing properly and that I didn’t do it correctly or what. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

  7. Just picked up a XR650R -04 and it has a brake lever from different model. Anyone who are able to identify it? I need to order a new lever to replace the broken one but I'm unsure what to order. It looks like Honda OEM but its different from the master cylinder for XR650R. This one has a slot for a mirror. Apologies for the poor quality of the photos.

  9. Rebuilding my master cylinder on my 2017 FC250 due to leaking fluid out the piston and I can’t seem to locate the circlip end to remove the piston. please reply if you have any suggestions.
  10. The front brake action on my Cr250 is undesirable. Not sure how to describe it but when I pull the lever in hard there are several points of resistance or sticky feeling. The brakes work good as I have rebuild the caliper and changed out the fluid. I would assume the piston needs replaced. Any thoughts? Anybody upgrade with a newer master cylinder? Looks like 2021 crf450 uses same master cylinder as a 2009. Thoughts
