  1. I got a question. I own a 2016 KX 85. It ran amazing after it first bought it used. I was riding one day with a bogging issue and about 35 minutes of riding I shut it off to take a break. Came back 20 minutes later and it would not start.I changed the spark plug, cleaned out the carb, checked the reeds, and tried hill starting it but nothing .When ever I try to hill start it I can hear it trying to crank and It starts for like half a second but then dies. There is spark coming from the plug though.I took the cylinder off and the piston and cylinder are &%$#@!ed.The piston rings were stuck in the grooves and I had to use pliers and a screwdriver to get it out. There was a ton of blow-by and the cylinder was scored.I bought a new piston already but how can I fix my cylinder.Im thinking of getting it repaired and replayed by either millennium,PowerSeal USA, or usnicom. This is my first time owning a 2 stroke.Any answers or tips.

  3. I have the dirt bike ramp, that you put in the hitch and lock it. Been using it for a little bit, and didn’t realize it but it looks liken someone hit the screw, the piece connected to the screw won’t unscrew as the screw blocks it. Now I can’t take it out. I’ve tried straightening out the screw with the mallet but couldn’t do it. Any advice?
  4. Hey guys. I am totally new to this forum and to the world of motorcycles (well I've ridden them but never worked on them). I have seen a few similar problems in other threads however I am what you could call mechanical un-inclined. So basically I could understand most of the reply's. So if anyone has a ultra baby step solution to this problem I would be greatly appreciative. Okay so here's the deal. I just bought (yesterday) a 1997 Suzuki DR200 that I planned on using as a get around town and exploring bike as a pretty beginner rider. When I bought it it ran great. When I got it home yesterday it ran just fine. When I tried to start it this morning it wouldn't go. It was turning over but not firing. So I pushed it down the street to a friends house who is pretty good with bikes. I live on a hill so on the way down I was able to bump start it and it ran perfect until I got to his driveway and stopped then it stalled. So we took the Carb off and cleaned the jets and put it back on and it started right up. I took if down the road and back and noticed it idled to low so it would stall if you didn't give it throttle. We turned the idle up but then it was so high that it would basically keep going in second gear with no throttle added. So we turned it back down but once again it died. This time it would not start and we killed the battery. We tried several times to bump start it with no positive results. So we pushed it up the hill and on the fourth try it worked and proceeded to bump start every time after than. But the problem still remained. We drove around and got the battery back to where we could start it with the electric start but it still wouldn't idle. And now it seems like it takes forever to come down to idle, like I will release the throttle and it will keep on going. I am at a complete loss as I have no clue how to work on bikes. Heck I don't even know what half the parts are used for or called when I see them in other posts. Basically can someone explain this so an idiot like me can understand? Also I see that there is a place labeled kick starter but no kick starter. That would sure be nice to have. It there any way that one can be added? Really any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton.
  5. Bike's still giving me the middle finger after a top end rebuild and camshaft replacement. I've ruled out the decompression system as the culprit but am now back to square one with one big clue. It's something in the crankcase.... joy. Got a video of it doing it's thing as well. Sounds alright when it's putting around, but when you get on the throttle things start clacking around and the moment you pull in the clutch and allow the motor to spin freely it dies. Engine failure happens at 1:25 in the video and dies again at the end but no clacking that time. If anyone has an idea of where to start, or a specific part to start with please let me know. I'm in way over my head here.
  6. So I was changing my oil in my 2019 crf450l yesterday to put it away for the winter and I noticed some metal flake in the oil. After I let all the oil drain I inspected the oil and sifted through it and to my horror found lots of fine golden particles and a chunk of aluminum in the oil, I also noted that the oil was exremely black, like night sky black, and it usually comes out almost as clean as it goes in. The filter suprisingly looked great other then some particles on the filter magnet. This bike literally turned one year old yeterday, I rode the bike off the showroom floor with 0 miles and it now has a little over 3000. Ive done my maintence too a T on this bike. The oil and filter have been changed either at or before 600 miles with honda full synthetic and a HI-FLO filter, and the valves have been adjusted every 1800, and the bike has never had a single mechanical issue even up to today it runs and rides probably better then the day i brought it home. My first thought was that possibly something in the clutch had went out because the engine and clutch share the same oil, and the color and particles could be consistent with a failing clutch. Today I pulled the clutch and nothing seemed wrong with it, the only thing I noticed was that the clutch basket seemed loose but after inspecting ebrything I couldnt find a reason for that so im assuming its normal. I did however notice a bunch of deep gouges and grooves as well as a few aluminum flakes in the bottom of the clutch side of the engine, right by the slot that goes into the crankcase. So clearly something has broken off and is making its way through the engine. Anyone ever had or heard of similar issues ? This is super concerning because this bike is basically new. Attached I have some pictures of all of the things I was describing.
  7. Have a 1983 Honda xr 200 that has a shifting issue I can shift up through all the gears but I cannot shift down through some gears while driving, if I come to a stop I can get it to shift down, need help figuring this out thanks
  8. Sorry if this is not the right forum to post this, but I've recently started taking apart the top end on my 2008 ktm exc-r 450. I was able to loosen 3 out of the 4 bolts that hold the cylinder head on and when I got to the last one (front right shown in the picture) the inside rounded out. As you can see from the picture its pretty close to the side of the engine so nothing can fit around the outside of it. I tried using a star-head to get a little more grab on the inside of the bolt head but no luck. I'm trying to figure out what my options are before I make anything worse. I've been told I could cut the bolt head off, but if I do wont the threads inside still be holding the cylinder head down?? Maybe a stupid question, since from looking on the oem parts finder it looks like the threads dont start until their into that bottom part of the engine. I've also head of tack welding a bolt on top to remove it, but not sure how hard thatd be to do with such little space. Are there any other tools or tricks to getting this thing out before resorting to those last ditch efforts?
  9. Let a friend ride my 07 kx250 2 stroke, he pinned the throttle wide open on the road for long periods of time probably without pulling the clutch in as the bike was slowing down, I chewed his ass because now it runs like crap, sputtering grabby and jerky acceleration low to mid throttle even in neutral as well, worse as it gets into gear through 1st and 2nd, seems like it's firing really bad choppy instead of smooth increase in rpms. Pulled carb and checked my carbon reeds, they look like new no warpage or cracks then I Pulled the head off and measured the cylinder and it's all within spec without any signs of wear so that made me feel good.. threw it back together torquing to spec and ran compression test.. 90-115 psi so it's definitely low... now I'm trying to figure out what to do next.. piston and rings are 20 hrs old.
  10. A year ago I bought a YZ450FX 2017 and have had no issues. I have ridden it 4 times this year, and had no issues. The last time I road it, the electric start went out, and would only work sometimes. Mainly if I put the bike in gear and rock it then go to the electric start. The bike also sounds like it is running awful. I changed all the fluids and all was good, but it sounds like it is just coughing, backfiring, and puking. Which is weird for a fuel injected bike. Everything I have seen so far says it is the crank shaft censor. I honestly have no clue, so what do you guys think?
  11. I’m having an issue of my cam chain jumping time everytime I go to turn the engine over 2 times as stated in the manual. I’ve counted 14 pins between my marks and the cams start out in the correct position. It seems as if around 1 to 1 and a half turns it just slips and then my timing is all out of wack. I install My chain tensioner and reset it everytime I’ve tried. Getting aggravated maybe iM missing something. Any help would be appreciated. Bike is 2008 rmz450 , oh and pros and cons of manual cam chain tensioner? I was thinking that may be the problem here? Idk. Help!

  13. I just bought a 2002 Honda XR200 that was hardly ridden at all and has lived most of its life in a storage locker. I already cleaned the carburetor and replaced some of the jets. I also replaced the air filter. I have checked to make sure the pep cock is clean, and even replaced the gasket that goes between the exhaust pipe and the engine. It starts up on the first kick, but when I turn the throttle more than 1/4 the way, it dies. Any ideas that you have would be appreciated. Thank you.
  14. I was adjusting my valve Clarences and forgot to take the washer out at the bottom of the bike that sets It in tdc. So I’m looking to set the timing back correctly, I know I can move the cams to the right spot but how do I make sure the piston is at top dead center?
