  1. I got a question. I own a 2016 KX 85. It ran amazing after it first bought it used. I was riding one day with a bogging issue and about 35 minutes of riding I shut it off to take a break. Came back 20 minutes later and it would not start.I changed the spark plug, cleaned out the carb, checked the reeds, and tried hill starting it but nothing .When ever I try to hill start it I can hear it trying to crank and It starts for like half a second but then dies. There is spark coming from the plug though.I took the cylinder off and the piston and cylinder are &%$#@!ed.The piston rings were stuck in the grooves and I had to use pliers and a screwdriver to get it out. There was a ton of blow-by and the cylinder was scored.I bought a new piston already but how can I fix my cylinder.Im thinking of getting it repaired and replayed by either millennium,PowerSeal USA, or usnicom. This is my first time owning a 2 stroke.Any answers or tips.

  3. Well here’s the story: I was tightening my primary nut on my crank shaft (loctite fix) and as the torque wrench popped to indicate I reached specified torque, I heard a pinging on the ground and saw what looks to be a dowel pin rolling around. I didn’t hit anything on the bike, my hands didn’t slip- this little sucker just fell out. It SEEMS to have fallen off of the left side (riders left) of the bike. I have both crank case covers off as well as the cylinder and cylinder head. The cylinder and crankcase dowels are all accounted for, and this little sucker doesn’t seem to fit in any of the alignment holes. I’m at a loss. I spent hours in the microfiches and my shop manual, but can’t seem to find where this sucker should go. I’ve kept pretty damn organized on my tear down with (what I thought) all loose hardware labeled, separated, and organized. Any ideas? Any responses are greatly appreciated. Photos below.
  4. Hi all, just need some help with an oil leak issue on my 1992 Yamaha XT600ED, ANYONE?
  5. Hi all, I'm new here. I just picked up a 04 CRF 450r a few weeks ago and I have been in love but recently my bike has been giving me problems with going from first to second gear. About half of the time it will just go into neutral, if I pull up extremely hard it will go into second. I can go down from 3rd to 2nd pretty easily. Any idea what this could be? I just changed the transmission oil to eliminate that, not sure if it did anything. All of my other gears work perfect I do notice that there is some resistance when rolling the bike in gear when it is off and the clutch is pulled in, is this normal with 450s? Doesn't seem to have a effect when it is on. Any input is appreciated, thank you.
  6. Hey all, I'm new here but am looking for some knowledge on my 2016 KTM 450 XCF. While riding the motor suddenly cut out (in a sensor fault kind of way), and cranked fine but refused to turn over. I've already verified that I have spark via removing the plug, grounding it, and visually confirming spark, as well as confirmed ~50psi after the fuel pump, and pulled the injector and verified it is in fact spraying. Despite having spark, fuel, and air, the bike still refuses to turn over. This is what has me stumped, as I can't at this point tell what's keeping the bike from running at this point. I'm leaning towards ordering a new injector and seeing if that makes a difference... The only other anomaly I've found is that the cold start (yellow knob) doesn't "reset" to the default position when I manipulate the throttle as it should, it stays in the cold position till I push it back in. Any help anyone here can offer would be greatly appreciated, especially since the soonest I can get a shop to look at it is 2+ weeks and I'm an impatient man...
  7. I have a 2018 honda crf150r expert Big wheel and my engine sized. the bike has literally 6.5 hours on the engine and the whole thing is destroyed. it has been giving me trouble since the day I bought it and whenever I brought it to the dealership they said everything was alright and said to just let it idle for a few minutes. According to my mechanic the piston is stalled and the whole engine has to be replaced so im kinda screwed as of right now. would it be possible for me to get my money back from the dealership since I have brought the bike to them several times to get it checked and each time they dismiss it as if nothing is wrong but as soon as i get home it refuses to start. Does anyone know how much it would cost to get it repaired and or if anyone is in the northern New jersey/nyc area wants to buy it message me. thanks
  8. Hey guys so I have a 97 kx 100 that I bought used and since I’ve had it the most I can ride on it is 5 miles before it runs out of gas. I’ve had several people look at it and have rebuilt the carburetor , put new Jets in it , messed with the sizes and settings as well as followed what’s in the service manual for recommended settings etc and Its still a mystery & at ill runs out of gas quickly. It doesn’t idle AT ALL and the clutch isn’t very responsive other than that it runs GREAT I just really wish I could get to the root of the issue. I’m new to the mechanics of dirtbikjng so if I sound uninformed or some of these things aren’t related that’s why but I’m very eager to learn and understand so anything helps. Thanks in advance
  9. Hey all... Help a girl out. I had a blonde moment and crashed on a forest road in 4th gear. I knocked the daylights out of my bike (and also broke a collarbone.) Summary of damage to bike: - the bike starts in neutral but cuts off immediately if I put it in gear. - electric starter doesn't work (only clicks) - gas throttle sticks open - someone told me my handlebars might be damaged but I don't see any cracks. Maybe it just got misaligned. - clutch lever wonky angle - broke the shit out of the speedometer screen - damage to body - broken headlight, shaved off mirrors Here are my questions: 1. Is the gear problem due to my safety switch? How do I fix it? 2. How do I tell if my handlebars are bent 3. Why is the electric starter clicking (bike sat only 10 days since crash. Battery is new.) 4. How do I fix throttle sticking problem Bike is a 2015 beta alp 200 (basically exactly the same bike as a DR200). 5. How long before I can ride again with this collarbone situation ❤️
  10. so i own a 2008 crf230f it runs fine but i was just riding around the paddock not going fast at all i was maybe riding for 2 mins max then I turned off the bike and there was a little pop not as loud as a backfire and when i tried to start it there was a noise that sounded like it was leaking air and now it wont start it has compression turns over just that hissing noise when you turn it over. any help would be appreciated .

  12. I recently got a 1991 (I think) kdx250 engine from my buddy for $150, in almost running condition, as well as rads, exhaust, and muffler. He said the engine had been sitting in a bucket of water for 5 years and he rebuilt it and said it may need to rings but it ran. (Seems good compression wise, and it bogs when kicking it when throttle fine). However, he said it kept blowing ignition coils for some weird reason so he just got rid of it and converted the bike to electric. I ended up finding a complete 1991 kdx250 for $300 that had a seized engine. So I swapped over the engines, put it new oil, new coolant. But now I have no spark. The frame’s wiring had been butchered. A yellow cable from the engine was never connected, two front wires at the front were torn off, and two at the rear were unconnected plus a brake light switch wire. Any idea why I’m getting no spark? After checking I do have some spare parts, I have like 4 spare ignition coils, not sure if any work, and some other part that was on the air box (small with a red and black/white wires). The one on the bike says 2.8 and the spare I have is 5.4 not sure if this is voltage or anything. I have already tried swapping the plugs, what next?
  13. Hello I just bought a drz400 and I’m wondering what this coolant issue can be. I haven’t had time to go anywhere yet so I have only been able to ride around in my backyard so only 1st and 2nd gear. However I noticed after a quick ride that the coolant overflow get fluid in it and when I shut off the bike their is a slow coolant leak coming from the bottom (still haven’t found where). I have no white smoke from exhaust or coolant in oil (just did oil change) so I am unsure to decide whether it is a head gasket yet. I did notice however when the coolant was going in the overflow it had some bubbles. And when the bike is cold all fluid in overflow goes back inside to radiator. Any guesses on what this could be?
