  4. Hey, I'm kinda new to the dirtbike thing and was looking for people to ride with. I'm from southeast, MO and typically ride at St.Joes state park.
  5. Hey everyone, been riding street bikes for 10 years now and my wife and I just got our first dirt bike (98 CR250r). I would be comfortable just loading it up and heading to Perry Lake, or Deep water or Finger lakes to get some experience on the trails, but she is really nervous and wants an open area nearby so she can practice for a while before heading to some trails. So I guess what I'm asking is, are there any areas that are legal (or at least where we won't get in trouble) that I could bring the bike to in the Kansas City area so she can ride around for a bit and get the hang of the bike before we start actually trail riding? It can be as simple as an open field. Thanks for any input.
  6. Spring is coming to the Chadwick area. I haven't rode the YZ in well over a year now, but the urge is returning a bit. Do any of you still ride the 'Wick, or interested in weather/trail condition reports from there? It's been a looong hard last couple years for me. Between the broken leg and general life (work) problems, the struggle has been real. But, the YZ has a new top end, a 270mm front rotor, and a Scotts steering damper, all of which needs to be tried out. If you all are interested, I'll clip the GoPro on and post some videos in the next few weeks. If not. Meh, I'll just leave the GoPro home and ride without you all..
  7. Happy New Year. Missouri will have a mid 50's and sunny day. Hope you can get out and ride.
  8. Most of my videos are on my Honda, but I made this one on the DRZ. A pleasant rural ride in southwest Missouri. I also have a video on my mods and on some off road roading. My youtube channel name is Oklahoma Hank.
  9. Might as well be anyway, been a little over a year now since I've ridden a dirt bike. 16 years in the woods, struggled last year (broke my leg in '16, hard time starting my bike still in '17), and this year, the interest just tanked. Paid $100 for a key to HHR, never went. New top end in the YZ, Scott's steering damper, 270mm front rotor, started it and ran it around the yard once. Need to force myself to go and see if it's still there. All good, yeah. Otherwise, there's going to be a very tight, well tuned, woods converted (or whatever level you want) YZ250 for sale in the spring.. ?
  10. Was curious as to if anyone has any detailed trail maps that depict the easiest ( For the training wheels just coming off) to the extreme diamond trails (for veteran riders who have rode all their life)? Thanks in advanced!

  13. I have recently moved from California to St Louis area of Missouri and am looking for people to ride with. My background; Getting back into riding after a layoff of a few years. I cut my teeth in the 80's on the single track in Foresthills Ca and have ridden most of the OHV areas from Central Ca. North. I have raced MX, enduros, and arena cross, plus road racing 250 production class but still had my day job. What I am looking for is people to ride trails with and the occasional MX days. I live near ROMPmx so I have been riding there mostly and have been to St. Joe a few times. I am semi retired and work from home so my schedule is flexible and weekday rides are always good. Like I said I am getting back into riding shape so I will be a bit slow but not beginner slow. I jump the doubles at romp but not the tables may be too old for those nowadays. My wife rides also but is beginner pace so family rides are welcome too. What do you say? Robert
  14. Hey everyone, I am looking to make some new contacts in the DS community in the SWMO and NW Ark regions. I live in Ozark Mo, and i would like to get a to know some riders in my area. I am looking to get some small rides together, share some routes, and just find some people who like to ride. Feel free to PM me or post in this thread if you are here in the area and have any suggestions for groups, rides, routes, etc... I know there are a lot of us around here, just trying to get with some new riding buddies.
  15. I've been on a 2 year hiatus, doing other things. Will be dusting off the YZ and heading back into the woods this spring though, doesn't look/sound like much has changed at the (Chadwick) use area. Few new faces/names here, quite a few old friends still around. Need to get the bike inside and do a bit of cleaning and tidying up on it. Put a new top end in it, rebuilt the the forks, new Scotts damper, oversize front rotor, winter of '18.. Then have never rode it. But, the burnout is fading and interest has returned.. Looking forward to the smell of pre-mix in the morning..
  16. The MTRA is hosting the event at their VTRA property. Hopefully we'll get some decent weather. The nearby town of Viburnum is having their Old Miners Days celebration that same weekend. https://www.oldminersdays.com/
  17. Can I get a yz250 street legal on Missouri?
  18. Hello! I'm new to the forum and although I've had street bikes and dirt bikes in the past I consider myself a newbie. I'm 44 years old and wondering if anyone knows of a place to ride around Springfield and even better, around Bolivar? I know there are several nice trails within an hour of me but I'd also like to find a convenient place locally just to practice riding skills as I get a little time in an even or weekend without having to dedicate an hour drive each way. Thank you.
  19. Bryan sent me this. There's a bug in our Clubs Feature that we're about to fix. But, it's not retro. Long story short, when riders joined your club, they were not automatically subscribed to be notified of new discussion topics, events added to the calendar, or photos posted to the club galleries. So, what's the fix? Tap the "Follow" button. All the best, Bryan Bosch ThumperTalk Caretaker
  20. I'm traveling thru and will be available 5/14 thru 5/18. I'm good for any 1 of those days. I'd like to find some great single track. I'm thinking about making Base camp in Branson and I'm willing to drive my pickup and bike, an hour or so for the good stuff. Looking to score a non death defy ride. I'm retired but not old, can hold my own in most cases, but I'm the only driver of the motorhome and IF i go down, we are staying in town until I heal. Don't need that. I'm not interested in holding anyone back, I just love to ride. My bike is dual sported, but I'm not looking for pavement or 2 track unless its hooking up some other cool stuff. I've been using TT as I travel across the US. It's been very interesting to ride all different kinds of terrain. I've met some pretty cool riders. I have ridden alone 2 times and had the hare on the back of my neck up the whole time. Not interested in doing that anymore. Lets Ride !

    missouri Ozark 100

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. If you're looking for something to do this weekend, the Ozark 100 race is on this Saturday in Mansfield, MO. This is a pretty special event that draws in national level pros every year. It's a little different format than your typical race. Race 1 is at 9:30 am with two 25 mile laps. The first lap is typical Ozark hare scramble terrain. The second lap the women and youth are done and they throw in some more moderately difficult elements. All C riders are finished at the end of the first 2 lap morning race ( most C riders will take 3 1/2 to 4 hours to finish 2 laps). Race 2 is at 2ish and consists of one 25 mile lap for B riders and above ( most B riders will take 1 1/2 to 2 hours to finish this lap). This afternoon race consists of more difficult elements that test the riders skill & stamina even more. The 3rd and final race is for the top 25 overall and starts at dark-thirty. It is 3 laps, after dark, making up 25 miles of the most extreme elements offered in the race. A couple of the "special elements" are lit up for spectator viewing. It doesn't matter if you are a racer or a spectator this is a fun event to attend. It usually draws a pretty good crowd. Last year I did the C45+ class in the morning and spent the rest of the day hiking around to the different "special elements" to spectate and cheer on friends. It was a great way to spend the weekend. Here is a little video of Jordan Ashburn and Nick Fahringer coming through one of the night tests called "Something Special". http://www.theozark100miler.com/2017-race-info.html
